Can anyone explain why American sensation Freddy Adu is not getting more playing time with mid
table AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1?
This is one question that bothers and still perplexes this writer. Yes Adu did not dazzle in MLS
when he played for DC United or Real Salt Lake, but amongst young talents in Canada at the FIFA
U-20, especially against Brazil, he dominated that game which paraded Pato and Jo.
The race for the title in Portugal is heating up.
Reyes signed for us during the January transfer window in 2004. The fee was £10.5m fee was
negotiated with top ups, depending on the success of Arsenal, which could have risen to £17m.
Reyes endeared himself to the Arsenal fans when he scored two goals against Chelsea, knocking them
out of the FA Cup.
I apologize in advance, but this is going to be a very, very personal post. It's not news worthy,
relevant to the current soccer world, nor very opinionated. In fact, you may be better off going
back to the TV or the game of solitaire you were busy with before you found this post. Anyway, I
received an especially meaningful item in the mail today.
Benfica defeat Belenenses 1-0 on a goal by Katsouranis to go a perfect 3-0 in Group C action and
claim top spot in the group. FC Porto came into the game needing a victory to advance to the next
round against Academica and pulled it off 1-0 when Nunes scored in his own goal during the matchup.
FC Porto currently sit in top spot in Group A but Nacional can still claim the group with a win
This Fridays action in Portugal's Liga Sagres ended both in scoreless draws as Leixoes and Martimo
tied in Madeira and Benfica where held scoreless in Restelo by Belenenses. The tie was not the
result that Benfica was hoping for as they battle Sporting and FC Porto for the portuguese title
and currently sit one point ahead of Sporting and two points ahead of Porto.
Porto have moved back to the top of the standings in Portugal with a 2-0 victory on the road over
Braga. Lucho and C.Rodriguez scored for the Dragons tonight. Porto's win coupled by ties by Benfica
and Sporting this weekend moves the Dragons clear of both teams by one point.
