Argentine youngster Angel di Maria has quashed speculation linking him with a move to England,
saying that he has never spoken to the English press and has never "dreamed of" a move to English
shores.
The Benfica midfielder was linked with potential moves to some of the Premiership's top clubs

Benfica traveled to the Azores to take on Santa Clara for the Taca de Pauleta at the Estadio Joao
Paulo II in Sao Miguel Island. Benfica with a water downed roster due to International duties for
many players jumped to an early lead when Keirrison scored at the 35th minute mark but Santa Clara
were up to the task and Leandro Tatu scored to bring the game even at the 51st minute mark.

It has been a year filled with unfortunate events so far this football season and I am sad to
report that La Liga has lost another former player. Robert Enke who was currently with German
squad Hannover 96 has died from an apparent suicide. Enke, well known for his role as
Germany's starting keeper as of January 2009, played for two different La Liga squads over the
course of his career and was considered by many football critics one of the most dependable
keepers not only in Germany, but in the entire world.

Benfica's central defender Luisao had an emergency operation on Tuesday in Portugal due to acute
appendicitus. Luisao will remain in hospital until at least the end of the week and will miss the
upcoming international friendlies for Brazil over the next week. Benfica at this time is unsure of
the time line that Luisao will be out of the lineup.

Former Benfica keeper and German Robert Enke has passed away at the tender age of 32. Enke who
played for Benfica from the 1999-2000 season until 2001-02 before being sold to Barcelona was the
current starting keeper for Hannover 96 in the German Bundesliga and is said to have commited
suicide after throwing himself in front of a train in the small town of Neustadt.

Robert Enke (32) the Hannover and Germany goalkeeper who was expected to be part of his
country's 2010 World Cup squad, was killed after being hit by a train close to a level crossing
near his home.
According to the Guardian, Jörg Neblung, a close friend and adviser of Enke, later said that
the 32-year-old goalkeeper had killed himself.

Sad news today. Robert Enke, Hannover and Germany's goalkeeper has been found dead in an
underground train passage in Neustadt am Rübenberge, Germany. According to police, it appears the
32 year-old has committed suicide by train.
Enke hadn't been playing a lot due to a mysterious infection.

international Goalkeeper
Robert Enke. The Hannover 96 goalkeeper took over as Germany's
Number 1 after Jens Lehmann retired last year.
The circumstances surrounding his death are not confirmed at the time of writing but it is quite

Benfica and Nacional were in action today along with Sporting in the Europa League. Benfica scored
two goals in the second half to defeat Everton on the road 2-0 on goals by Javier Saviola and Oscar
Cardozo. Nacional took the lead once again against Athletic Bilbao on a goal by Edgar before
Athletic tied it with eight minutes to draw Nacional 1-1.

Everton were unable to turnaround their 5-0 away loss to Benfica, losing again to the Portuguese
club 2-0 at Goodison Park on Thursday. Javier Saviola scored in the 63rd and Oscar Rene Cardozo
followed in the 76th for the win. Tim Howard made nine saves for Everton, three more than his
opposite number Jacobi Julio Cesar who picked up the shutout.
