Champions League is a post from Soccer Blogger.
I know that the majority of our problems are defensive ones, and we actually looked OK going
forward yesterday, but I have to ask where is Chu Young Park? He was on the bench for the games
against Swansea City and Borussia Dortmund, but he did not get on as Marouane Chamakh came on as

Fernando Torres has undoubtedly hit the nadir of his career. This week, he was dropped all together
from Spain's 18-man squad and was subsequently demoted to the bench for Chelsea's Premier League
match against Sunderland. He also appeared to lose...

Strong start. Eased off. Conceded a sloppy goal and some chances. Regrouped. Equalized. Pushed
on and closed the game out by adding a couple more. Entertaining. Encouraging. Much needed.
It was a youthful line-up and an even younger bench. Le Boss also started with a fluid 4-4-2
giving Park and Chamakh having a great deal of freedom to move.

Is it a football boot? Is it a football boot with a brain? Or is it just adidas finally putting
a microchip in their adiZero F50s?
Yes, no and of course. The new adidas adiZero F50 miCoach (165g, retails price starts at £200,
out in November), thanks to a built-in microchip and tracking software available for your
smartphone as well as an online portal, promises to enable both professional and amateur

Arsenal's defence at full stretch
Three points in the bag. Move up to 11th in the league (still early days to consider any
significance of the table). No injuries suffered during the game. No red card accrued during the 90
minutes. Andrey Arshavin opened his accounts for the season and another clean sheet kept by
Wojciech Szczesny (not that it was his effort alone, those in front of him helped of course).
Is It Time To Bench Jamie Carragher? - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Carragher without a doubt has been one of the most reliable and consistent players for Liverpool
over the past decade. The veteran defender even now is brilliant with his abilities, however the
major concern is that with his age the errors are increasing as well.

Arsenal travel to Borussia Dortmund to kick off the Champions League group stage tonight. Facing
the German champions after a challenging start to the season and a crucial if somewhat
underwhelming 1-0 win at the Emirates against Swansea City on Saturday is a tough task, but that's
the scenario. No use wishing what might have been.
Premier League team news - ESPN Soccernet: Here is the important news from behind the link along
with the fantasy implications that the news implies: Arsenal Song and Gervinho are back from
suspension which means a few things: 1) Frimpong and Arshavin will almost definitely head to the
bench; 2) The defense will be better with Song in front of Mertesacker and Koscielny (and Rovers

Poor start, poor ref, four nil – a day to forget for Liverpool
Liverpool lost 4-0 away to Spurs, the White Hart Lane curse continuing as the Anfield side ended
the game with nine men. At least now we know why Steve Clark refuses to give Kenny a game in
training when numbers aren't even; he's preparing them for days like this – and still has
preparation to do.
Roma goalie Stekelenburg
Well, quite a weekend. Too weird for words.
Kenny leaving Kuyt off. Rooney doing a Beckham penalty. Torres missing one complete sitter,
missing another relatively easy chance and scoring a beauty. Van der Vaart coming off the bench.
Drenthe coming off. Heitinga staying on.
While Del Piero tries to stare you down for giving him evils about being on the
Juventus bench, let us take you through some Serie A highlights from the
weekend!
- AS Roma defeated Parma 1-0 with the sole goal coming from Osvaldo.
Lot of talk in the press over the last two days about Frank Lampard reportedly walking away from
the bench when being an unused substitute in Saturday's 4-1 win over Swansea City.
Lampard has failed to make Andre Villas-Boas' starting line-up for three of the last four
matches. But the game against Swansea was the first time he has not come off the bench.
'The bench was nearer to my kids': Carlos Tevez's top 10 excuses
So Carlos Tevez now says it was all a misunderstanding and he did not refuse to play at Bayern
last night. No word yet on how the misunderstanding occurred... but here are our Twitter Army's
suggestions at some excuses he might come up with.
Carlos Tevez created quite the sideshow during Manchester City's UEFA Champions League loss to
Bayern Munich on Tuesday after refusing to enter the match as a substitute.
After acknowledging that he wouldn't go into the match, the Argentine striker is now
backtracking a bit with his latest public comments.

Jordan Henderson scored an excellent goal while captaining England U21s to a 6-0 Euro qualification
victory over Azerbaijan on Thursday night.
The 21-year-old bent a right-foot shot beyond the goalkeeper to cap a mature display in the centre
of the park.
Jon Flanagan also impressed on his U21 debut, playing 90 minutes and looking every inch a Premier
League player.
At the end of last season it seemed that Niko Kranjcar's time at Spurs was at an end. After
winning goals against Bolton and Sunderland he was consigned, in the main, to the subs' bench and
after highlighting his lack of first team action, it seemed almost certain that he would be moving
on.
Everyone knows that it's impossible to keep everyone happy. No one would argue with this. Life
teaches us this at every turn. But someone who has far more varied choices with far more reaching
consequences may beg to differ. A feisty Scotsman better known as Fergie should be completely
oblivious to this.

Oliver Holt's big match verdict: Lamps is going out but England's future looks
bright
Frank Lampard has been a fine player for England, a stalwart of the midfield for more than a
decade who has won 86 caps. He deserves better than for his omission from the side to be hailed as
a barometer of change but that was his fate here in Sofia.
2014 Word Cup qualifying started off well for Tinidad and Tobago, with a 1-0 win over Bermuda
beginning the process.
Philadelphia Union midfielder Keon Daniel started Trinidad's victory off on the bench, but was
substituted into the game in the 36th minute of the game. Daniel replaced Khaleem Hyland well
before the start of half time for reasons beyond a tactical change.
In January 2001, Gerrard Houllier signed one of Europe's most renowned and exciting creative
players. Liverpool fans everywhere rejoiced at the prospect of having such a rare talent in the
team, the ideal player to complement Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler. Joy quickly turned to
frustration though as Houllier criminally underused the player and inexplicably wasted his
considerable talent.
Of late, it seems that Chelsea fans are beginning to question the role Frank Lampard has in the
side at the moment as being honest we haven't seen Frank at anywhere near his best so far this
season.
As you can imagine with news that Frank Lampard was on the bench for England's 3-0 win over
Bulgaria last night, the knives have come out for him regarding his England career.
Spain producing a stirring comeback to overturn a two goal deficit as they beat Chile 3-2 in St

I think most people agree that as long as referees are humans not super robots, and as long as FIFA
insists to keep football almost the only sport without technology assistance for referees, we will
keep debating if the ball crossed the line or not, was it an offside or not, penalty or not, scored
by hand or head .
Tomorrow is Labor Day here in the United States. So naturally, I've been thinking about how we
measure work performance in football. It's also a long weekend, with most people off from work for
three days. If they spending it catching up on the Premier League season so far, they could be
forgiven for scratching their heads upon finding out that last year's top scorers in the Premier
League Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez have yet to start a singe match this season.
Fabio Capello has confirmed that he will not include Andy Carroll in his starting XI in his current
shape.
Carroll was named in the England squad for the games against Bulgaria and Wales.
But the Liverpool striker was not deemed fit enough to feature in Sofia and was not even on the
bench for the 3-0 win.
West Brom's top scorer from last season Peter Odemwingie has suffered a setback in his bid to
return from a niggling ankle injury, with Roy Hodgson confirming the striker's return date is yet
unknown. The Nigerian first sustained the injury during West Brom's pre-season, although the
striker did come off the bench for 15 minutes against Chelsea.
Frank Lampard not finished, warns John Terry

Arsene Wenger's appeal against a two-match suspension has been rejected by Uefa and he will now
be banned from the dugout for the start of Arsenal's Champions League group stage campaign.
Wenger was originally given a one-game ban for the first leg of the Gunners' play-off round tie
against Udinese, following criticism of Swiss referee Massimo Busacca in the defeat to
Barcelona last season.
Total joke this is. The UEFA Appeals Body has rejected the appeal lodged by Arsenal and Arsène
Wenger against the two-match suspension handed to the manager after the play-off first leg against
Udinese.
Wenger will now be suspended for Arsenal's next two Champions League matches, against Borussia
Dortmund and Olympiacos FC on 13 and 28 September.

With Luis Suarez, Stewart Downing and Co. setting Anfield alight, Liverpool's £35million man
Andy Carroll has found himself somewhat out of favour with King Kenny Dalglish, while for
England's recent game in Bulgaria, he wasn't even named on the bench.
Kelmend Isaj (Monroe) started his college soccer career in the best way
possible.
The forward came off the bench for the Edgewood College men's team in Friday night's season
opener and scored on a 20-yard shot with his first touch. Isaj added another goal just before
halftime and senior goalkeeper Kyle Koenig (Sheboygan South) made two saves as the
Eagles blanked Lawrence 3-0 at Breese Stevens Field.
