KANSAS CITY Northern Kentucky junior forward Steven Beattie has been named to the Daktronics, Inc.
Men's Soccer All-America First Team as announced by the organization on Wednesday. Beattie is one
of eight GLVC men's soccer student-athletes to earn All-America recognition by Daktronics, Inc.
The Springfield Demize finished their final road trip of the season on Saturday
evening in Des Moines where they fell 4-0 to the hosts. With the win the Des Moines Menace has
secured a spot in the playoffs and a share of the division championship. With two games remaining,
one point is all that is necessary to ensure home-field advantage along with the Heartland Division
title.
Fresh off a 4-2 victory at Truman State to open the season on Friday, the Drury men's soccer
Panthers will play their home opener when Newman visits Harrison Stadium for a 7 p.m. match
Sunday.
Newman, which will be opening its season Sunday against the Panthers, defeated Drury 3-2 in
Wichita, Kan.
Thunder lose first match to Des Moines Menace 2-1
The Rochester Thunder played the first match of their Inaugural Season at Valley Stadium on
Saturday evening in front of a crowd of 3,444 who attended the Menace season opener. An outstanding
attendance for a PDL game!
With a 3-2 win at Kansas City last night, the Des Moines Menace claimed 1st place for themselves
in the Heartland Conference. The game-winner was scored by Ben Taylor (Drury) on
an assist from Garrett Webb. Taylor is now the leading the scorer for the Menace with 13
points.
The win ensured that the Menace would take sole possession of first regardless of the result
here in Springfield, where the Demize were hosting the Colorado Real Foxes, the other potential
contender.

The best regular season in school history culminated in a big reward for Drury men's soccer on
Thursday, as 10 Panthers earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference recognition as the league
announced its award-winners.
Drury placed six men's soccer players on the Daktronics All-Midwest Region first team announced
on Tuesday.
Members of the Panthers who were honored, after helping Drury to a 21-2-0 record and their first
Great Lakes Valley Conference championship and NCAA-II Tournament berth, were keeper Stephen
Conner, forwards Micah Whorton and Steve Wilczewski, midfielder Andrew Bordelon and defenders Ben
Taylor and Peter Higgins.
The Drury Panthers men's and women's teams are each hosting a pair of teams today at Harrison
Stadium, offering three games each today. All of the games are at Harrison Stadium on Central
Avenue.

opportunities that were denied by the wind, Spring touch still developing or solid defense.

the Springfield Demize host Des Moines Menace. The game this evening will be played at 5:30 pm, a
special concession to the owners of the Menace which is the Kum and Go gas/food chain. The local
management and staff will be enjoying the game, it will be interesting to see how many of them
cheer for the Menace or the Demize.
