As Florentino Perez continues to degrade an already absurd transfer market into new realms of
travesty, changes of a more sensible nature are afoot in Catalunya. The air is still calm outside
the Nou Camp as the stardust still settles after the gloss that was last season. Yet across town in
Cornella de Llobregat, the air couldn't be more supercharged with the flutter of parakeet wings as
a fresh optimism seems to have sunk into the finishing touches of wet paint adorning the brand new
Estadi RCDE.
Last week I had a FREE JMS "Believe in it" bracelets giveaway for soccer people of all ages who
sent in pictures of themselves wearing their favorite jerseys. The giveaway was a great success
and people sent in pictures from all over the world! As you will see there were a lot so it took
me a while to sort through them all.
Tuttosport of Italy has been publishing a list of U-21 players for its Golden Boy Awards since

Cesc Fabregas in 2006, Sergio Aguero in 2007 and to Anderson last year. 2008 witnessed the tightest
competition as Manchester United's Anderson just got three more votes compared to Arsenal's Theo
Walcott.
With De Graafschap 2-0 down to PSV, Ben Sahar (on loan from Chelsea) headed home a goal that might
have made things more interesting. Unfortunately Sahar was flagged for offside, and the goal was
disallowed. Tight call, and could have gone either way, no? Not according to one rather large De
Graafschap fan, who was [.
Steven Gerrard hit the woodwork twice so it's not like Rafa's men were outclassed but their
defence did seem flat footed throughout and former Chelsea man Ben Sahar scored two tap ins after
poor defending and Luis Garcia scored the other (not the former Liverpool one).

"Ben Sahar (10/08/1989 Jolón, Israel) has become a new Espanyol player for the next four
seasons, after the an agreement between Chelsea and RCD Espanyol. Although (there was an) offer
from Ajax, the youngster has shown strong will to land in the Spanish La Liga instead of
returning to the Dutch Championship, where he has played for the last months for De Graafschap.

izquierda, ¡arrrrr!
Real Madrid target Xabi Alonso made a brief appearance as a strong Liverpool team suffered a heavy
defeat in Spain.
Midfielder Alonso came off the bench with six minutes remaining as Espanyol officially opened their
new stadium, and reports in Spain indicate it may be his final appearance for Liverpool.
Liverpool lost 3-0 to Espanyol tonight, as the La Liga outfit celebrated their first game in the
new Estadi Cornella-El Prat in style, with goals from Luis Garcia and a brace from Ben Sahar
sealing an impressive victory for the hosts.
Reds manager Rafa Benitez acknowledged that his side were very much second-best, with the Spaniard
admitting the home side thoroughly deserved their win.
- Young guns at Chelsea on the move. First, Ben Sahar leaves the club for Espanyol (and scores 2
against Liverpool in a friendly this week). Then, Franco di Santo goes on loan to Blackburn. And
now, Scott Sinclair is headed for Wigan on loan. Will these U-21 prospects finally shine with
regular first team football?

Por Johan Einstein (Desde Jerusalén) El nuevo fichaje del espanyol, Ben
Sahar está inmerso en el momento más importante del año. Comenzó ayer domingo al anochecer. No
me refiero a su partido contra el Xerez, sino al inicio del Día del Perdón (Yom Kipur), la
jornada más sagrada para el judaísmo.
