The dust has settled and the equipment has been removed from the Baltimore Convention Center.
The 2011 MLS Draft is in the book and let's turn to the experts to see how the other teams in the
league did. For now we'll focus on the Eastern Conference.
Thomas Floyd of Fanhouse.com had D.C. United and New England Revolution in the 'winners'
column.

Saturday's USMNT draw with Chile served a few purposes. Most of them involved Bob Bradley and his
nonstop need to evaluate, cull, and refine the National Team talent pool, with an eye towards
meaningful competition this year and the 2014 World Cup well down the road. We can only hope that
Bradley and his staff gained useful insight with what happened at the Home Depot Center; at the
very least several players stood out, causing every armchair analyst from here to Anchorage to draw
conclusions as to who should remain in the picture and whose name should be marked out with
permanent ink.

Oh, looky! Aitor Ocio and his stellar abs (and bad denim) are featured in a new Glamour ES
interview. What do you need to know? Aitor is a self-confessed flirt. That's the basic gist. He
also talks about his ex, Lara Sanchez and their daughter. If you don't live near an
internationally-stocked newsagent, we suggest you book a flight abroad and pick up a copy.
King Kenny: new manager, same woeful results
They say it's never too late to hash out your New Year's resolutions, but let's face it, I'm two
weeks late on this one. That said, I can't help but feeling a sense of familiarity surrounding the
early days of 2011. We kicked things off with another stunning FA Cup third round Leeds United
result (this time at Arsenal), much in the same manner as 2010.
Last night at Morton Fine Art in Adams Morgan, Ben Olsen unveiled his second annual Night of Art
and Fashion to benefit Bread for the City. The turnout was strong, and several members of the
Black-and-Red came to show their support, including Bryan Namoff and Clyde Simms. Staff and players
mingled with art patrons, fans, and Bread for the City representatives in an effort to raise funds
for a noble cause.

DC United got its man. In a turn of unexpected events, Perry Kitchen fell to United with the
third overall pick. United followed up its selection of the current US U-20 captain with another
Akron player, fullback Chris Korb. DC finished off its draft by trading into the third round to
select goalkeeper Joe Willis of Denver.
On Tuesday, January 18, the Black-and-Red community accepted another proud member into its
ranks, as United Head Coach Ben Olsen and his wife Megan welcomed Oscar Benjamin Olsen into the
world. At 10:09 a.m., Megan gave birth to the healthy baby boy, weighing in at 8 pounds and 7
ounces. Though we don't have any pictures of Oscar just yet, Coach Olsen informs us that everyone
is healthy and doing well.

After putting last season's historically bad campaign in the rear-view mirror, D.C. United is
aiming for a fresh start with Ben Olsen at the helm of a team on a mission.
With a bevy of new faces in camp and a fresh attitude to boot, expectations of a vast
improvement are abound in the nation's capital.
My first encounter with DC United came in 2004. The arrival of Freddy Adu onto the world stage
gained his club extra publicity. A year later Ryan Nelsen joined Blackburn Rovers from the
Washington club, and at the time I questioned if someone from MLS could cut in England especially
as he joined Rovers as a 28 year old.
