6 months ago: CARSON, CA - JUNE 5: Goalkeeper Pat Onstad #18 of the Houston
Dynamo reaacts after giving up the fourth goal of the game against the Los Angeles Galaxy on June
5, 2010 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
It would be unfair to hold Ben Olsen to the standard that Gary Smith set, taking two years and ten
days to bring Colorado its first title. Or even to Jason Kreis, who took two years, six months and
fifteen days to bring Salt Lake its first championship.
After all, Peter Nowak took one season to bring MLS Cup back to DC.
With a few days perspective, Christopher Riordan and myself are set to give our thoughts on the
decision to award Qatar the 2022 World Cup. On this edition of the Major League Soccer Talk
podcast, we talk about the decision, FIFA corruption, American entitlement and exceptionalism,
press failings, and how to move forward.
Steven Goff of the Washington Post reports that goalkeeper Pat Onstad is
unlikely to return to the Houston Dynamo and has been approached by D.C. United about joining its
coaching staff to oversee the keeper corps. Tim Mulqueen, the goalkeeper coach for

Ridge Mahoney of Soccer America looks at the start of Pat Onstad's career as an assistant coach for
D.C. United.
In addition to reviving the fortunes of D.C. United, a four-time MLS champion who posted the
league's worst record last year, ex-Dynamo keeper Pat Onstad is looking forward to other aspects of
his new role as assistant coach.

It has been an extremely busy offseason so far for the 4-time MLS Cup champions. They have resigned
amazing rookie sensation and 2010 MLS ROY, Andy Najar and named Ben Olsen as the full time head
coach heading into 2011.
Here is a quick look at the players that are IN/OUT so far:

The first stage of the inaugural re-entry draft passed with little bang.
The draft ended in less than five minutes and only two players were selected as most teams
decided to bypass the option to select one of the many players available. D.C.
Incomplete of course, but a few things we still need to check off...:
For you Sunil....
For Sunil Gulati:
The Sepp Blatter Punching Bag....For someone who couldn't punch the United States ticket to
hosting the World Cup 2022. We also get Gulati one of those disappearing ink pens for when he has
to resign Bob Bradley in the Winter of 2014 because Jurgen Klinsmann takes the Chivas coaching gig
but then subsequently gets fired and becomes available.

A smart, smart move was made by D.C. United this morning.
Maryland defender Ethan White was a product of the D.C. United academy and could be signed by
the club or head into the MLS SuperDraft next month.
PORTLAND, Ore. The Portland Timbers have signed English defender Kerrea Gilbert from the English
club Arsenal. The Timbers, who join Major League Soccer as an expansion team next season, also
acquired a fourth-round pick from the Houston Dynamo in the 2014 SuperDraft in exchange for
defender Jordan Graye.

Much like last week's stage one, if you blinked you missed something. Stage 2 of the MLS
Re-Entry Draft went by in a flurry over Twitter earlier today. With every club and nearly every
other fan following along to the draft the tweets made it nearly impossible to keep up.
