Head Coach Curt Onalfo and assistant coaches Mark Simpson, Ben Olsen and Kris Kelderman share a
drink at last night's 'Meet the Coach' event at BlackFinn.

Curt Onalfo was introduced to the DC fans in a press conference Tuesday morning. He is the 6th head
coach at DC United and is replacing the "not returning" Tom Soehn. Onalfo announced his staff
Tuesday as well. He is reuniting with Kris Kelderman, his top assistant in Kansas City and he is
retaining goalkeepers coach Mark Simpson.
Kris Kelderman, Mark Simpson, and Benny Olsen will be the assistant coaches for Curt Onalfo.
Kelderman was Onalfo's right hand man in Kansas City and also has experience as a player for DC
United and coach of the U-17 team for the club. He was also previously an assistant at George Mason
University.
* DC United formally unveiled their second-choice for head coach at a press conference Tuesday
morning as Curt Onalfo officially took the reins of the club. Kris Kelderman, Mark Simpson and Ben
Olsen will make up the assistant coaching contingent as the club tries to right itself after
missing the playoffs for a second-consecutive season in '09.
I crammed myself into a downtown bar last night to attend DC United's meet the coach night which
featured man-of-the-hour Curt Onalfo. Easily over 100 fans packed an undersized bar to get a mere
glimpse, beer or handshake with Onalfo, owner Will Chang, GM Kevin Payne, new assistant coach Ben
Olsen and forward Jaime Moreno.
Former US National Team player and DC United midfielder Ben Olsen didn't stay out of the game for
long. After announcing his retirement at the end of the season, Olsen now has his first assistant
coaching job. It's no surprise that it's with his old club, DC United. New DC head coach Curt
Onalfo announced the move alone with the hiring of the rest of his staff, Kris Kelderman and Mark
Simpson.

What happens when soccer players get baseball gloves? They get really excited of course! Which
is what happened when these baseball gloves somehow made their way to United's meet and greet
Tuesday night with new coach Curt Onalfo. Check out Jaime Moreno's excited face and Ben Olsen's
surprised oh-no-I-have-to-catch-the-ball-with-my-hands look.
As SeƱor Goff recently reported, Luciano Emilio has indeed moved on. The forward has
signed with Rio Branco de Americana in Brazil's second division.
"We would like to thank Luciano for being a part of D.C. United and we wish he and his family
the best of luck always," said United General Manager Dave Kasper of the Brazilian's
departure.
So my well laid plans failed to conceive the desired results. Instead of rattling off a
detailed, team-by-team post, I'll merge the final needs into one list.
Without further adieu, time to jump in.

A new coach in town makes the Goats a bit harder to read. Do they look to bolster the defense or
give the midfield a boost?

We have a new goalkeeper! I am excited about Perkins coming back, but also sort of bummed we lost
our first round draft pick. I believe that both teams got pieces that they needed in order to get
better. My dissapointment comes from my increased interest in the draft due to the increased media
attention.
At least, it was live.. you know, earlier today... when we were in Philly. Now, it's archived
footage, but because we had a few technical difficulties with the interwebs while at the Convention
Center, we wanted to get you all the interviews Tony Limarzi conducted. Check out what GM Dave
Kasper, Head Coach Curt Onalfo, Assistant Coach Mark Simpson and Assistant Coach Ben Olsen had to
say about the return of Troy Perkins and the SuperDraft (among other things).
