Carling Cup hero Craig Bellamy is a big fan of veteran Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, and he's
thankful to be playing alongside him during his second spell at Anfield.
Bellamy is never short of an opinion or two, both on and off the field, and he appreciates Carra's
honest, no-nonsense approach to life at Anfield:
"Carra's been there for a lot of years and he's big figure at the club.
Squad sheets: Aston Villa v Liverpool
Stewart Downing, who scored the only goal of the game in the corresponding fixture at the end of
last season, can expect a hostile reception from Aston Villa supporters on his return to his former
club. The England winger has still to score for a Liverpool side that have lost only once in their
last 10 league matches.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet Dempsey and Bellamy aren't talking about where they get
their tattoos done.
Reina, Johnson, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Adam, Henderson, Downing, Maxi, Kuyt, Suarez.
Subs: Doni, Kelly, Carragher, Shelvey, Bellamy, Coates, Carroll.

Newcastle Manager Alan Pardew has heaped praise on Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy ahead of his
side's clash with Liverpool on Friday evening. With 3 goals and 4 assists so far this season,
Bellamy has been something of a revelation for Liverpool, and Pardew believes he's up there with
the very best.

Other than against Bolton, Liverpool played their best football of the season against an
out-of-sorts Manchester City last weekend. Due to their physical exertions in the Champions League,
the Citizens looked short of match fitness and were sluggish against the mighty Reds. But that does
not take away a great performance by Liverpool at Anfield.

They're all uneducated guesses until we see what Dalglish has in mind, but regardless of Lucas'
undeniable importance, I don't expect Liverpool to change tack that much with the Brazilian out for
the season.
Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy has (so far) been a massive success during his second spell at
Anfield, and after playing alongside his new team-mates for a while, who would Bellers choose for
his Liverpool 5-a-side team? One thing's for sure, there's one player who definitely would not make
it.

Despite scoring against Chelsea in his last game, Maxi Rodrigues has been dropped by Kenny Dalglish
for the Fulham game, which marks the third time this season the Argentinean has been dumped on the
bench after scoring.

Familiar storyline: Liverpool fail to convert chances when dominant, leading to more points dropped
in a game Liverpool bossed. New plot twist: Refereeing decisions punish Liverpool even more than
usual, culminating in an egregious red on Spearing that gave Fulham the advantage needed to take
all three points.
Craig Bellamy made his debut for the Wales national team at the tender age of 18, which means he
got to train alongside Liverpool goalscoring legend Ian Rush, surely a dream come true for any
young player making taking their first steps in the game? However, in typically honest fashion,
Bellers has revealed that he wasn't impressed with Rushie's performance in training.
Despite his short stature, Bellamy won't back down from anyone and will get in your face if you do
something he doesn't like.
Lucas' absence and Liverpool's subsequent change in formation altered the position of two of
Liverpool's key players against Fulham: whoever the holding midfielder is and Luis Suarez.
Jay Spearing often played further up the pitch than Lucas usually defends, while far more static in
general.
Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy has revealed that he plans to move into football
coaching/management once his playing career is over.
Given his forthright, opinionated nature, Bellamy is an ideal candidate for management, and he has
some very specific ideas about how he wants to do things:
"I have a philosophy on football about how it should be played but I'd like to start off at a young
age and find my feet, and work my way up through the ranks and learn that way.

Squad sheets: Wigan Athletic v Liverpool
Wigan have fared surprisingly well in recent meetings here, taking a win and two draws from the
last three, and have lost one in five against Liverpool overall, but Roberto Martínez feels that
at present Kenny Dalglish's side offers a particularly stern test.
This preview was written yesterday, before the Suarez verdict. I thought about rewriting it. I
still don't know what to say. Everyone's fumbling in the dark with just the FA's paltry statement
to grasp onto, basing every opinion (and they are opinions) on their own biases (myself included).
Until the FA releases its corresponding evidence, this ordeal seems more Franz Kafka's The
Trial than "standard" football discipline.
Wigan v Liverpool: Solidarity on show as Suarez starts.
The Liverpool team for tonight's visit to the DW Stadium includes Luis Suarez and is solidly
behind Luis Suarez. Maxi and Kuyt for Bellamy and Shelvey are the only changes. This is the
statement the squad released collectively this evening: Luis Suarez is our teammate and our friend
and as a group of players we are shocked and angered that he has been found guilty by the FA.

Liverpool v Blackburn – Stevie on the bench
Boxing day sees Blackburn visit Anfield and Reds captain Steven Gerrard is fit enough for a
place on the bench after his injury lay-off. Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll both start for the hosts,
Kuyt and Bellamy joining the captain on the bench alongside vice-captain Jamie Carragher.

With all the furore over Luis Suarez getting another ban, Liverpool getting a £20,000 fine over
Jay Spearing getting sent off and all the dismal draws instead of wins as we slide down the table,
it is the same old story with Liverpool FC, failure to beat lower league opposition, failure to
stay in touch with the Manchester teams and now Tottenham Hotspur.
Andy, what do you think of Kuyt's new jeans? "Eh, they're alright i
spose."...Newcastle make the trip to Anfield on Friday bringing with them Demba Ba, the man who
has stepped up to fill the massive boots left by Andy Carroll. Unfortunately for Liverpool it's
Demba Ba who can boast the greater goal tally but with Luis Suarez serving a ban for this match
will Andy Carroll take his chance to put a sock in the critics mouths?
