The huge gulf in class between the two teams was eventually exposed as Arsenal won the game
convincingly, albeit with a few hiccups along the way. For a while it looked much closer than it
should have been, mainly due to the endeavour of the hosts, good goalkeeping, and profligacy of the
Arsenal attackers.
"When I was a teenager I had sworn off any belief I had in the existence of God," explained Glen
Harzewski, founder and president of the Chicago Fire Atheists Supporters Club, "but when I heard
the rumor that the president of the El Salvador FA was hoping to lure the Fire's head coach coach,
Carlos de los Cobos, back to his old job it was as if the heavens had opened up and God himself
reached out to me and said, 'I am here.
A moment's lack of concentration after ninety four minutes and forty seconds in a game that was
supposed to last ninety four minutes cost us two precious points.
Perhaps it is more accurate to say that not only was it the poor time keeping by referee Phil
Dowd but also the stupidity of Alex Song and an atrocious penalty miss by Tomas Rosicky that
combined to deny us two points that could end up making the difference between winning the league
and coming second.

Let me set the scene. Newcastle United had been having their best season in decades. But after
blowing a huge lead at the top of the Premiership, they know they that must bring back three points
from Merseyside to stay in compeition with Alex Ferguson's (Not a sir back then) Manchester
United.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski following his side's
Champions League victory. The Pole had another chance to shine as he stood in for the injured
Manuel Almunia against Partizan Belgrade, and he put in an impeccable performance as the Gunners
ran out 3-1 winners.
Jay Spearing has spoken of his determination to impress Roy Hodgson after being named in
Liverpool's 21-man squad for the Barclays Premier League.
For the 2010-11 season, top-flight clubs must register a squad of up to 25 players for league
games, which must include at least eight 'home grown' players and no more than 17 'non home grown'
players.
One major challenge facing Roy Hodgson this season is improving Liverpool's shocking away form.
We were so poor on our travels last season that at times it left me lost for words. There was a
serious lack of belief and desire when we played away and when things went against us heads went
down.
The fact that we only won five and only scored 18 goals in 19 away games speaks volumes.
FC Barcelona starts their Champiosn Leagu campaign at the Nou Camp against Greek Champions
Panathinaikos tomorrow. After the 2-0 defeat against hercules, it could be thebest thing the
players can ask for. A match this quickly means Barca has the perfect platform to bounce back and
turn the topic away from that defeat.

First there is 'plain lucky', then there is 'jammy beyond all reasonable belief' and then comes
this heroically nonchalant save from Bayern Munich's veteran stopper Hans-Jorg
Butt...

Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole believes Reds captain Steven Gerrard deserves to add 'Premier League
champion' to his list of achievements at Anfield.
The former Chelsea player joined the Reds this summer on a free transfer after constant speculation
linking him with moves to Arsenal and Tottenham.
BELIEF renewed at Tottenham as they came from behind to see off a vibrant Wolves. Steven
Fletcher's opener for Wolves never looked to be enough as Spurs created chances. But it was only
a penalty that saw the scores level, as Van der Vaart, on as a replacement for Lennon, scored the
spot kick.
From the KC Wizards website KC's Vermes: We just went for it on the 4-3 win over Houston, coming
back from 1-3 down.
Manager Peter Vermes' team still has a long way to go to accomplish either one of those things,
but Kansas City are 6-1-3 in their last 10 league games and full of belief after suffering through
a difficult first half of the season.
Manchester City's victory over Chelsea today could just be the turning point in their season. After
a start which saw the Eastlands club drop vital points away at Sunderland and at home to Blackburn
Rovers, the victory today could go a long way in to inspiring belief amongst the blue half of
Manchester.
When a Kieran Gibbs foul gave Partizan Belgrade their second penalty of the night I have to
admit I was worried. I know there was only a few minutes to go and they were down to ten men but I
have the utmost confidence in this team's ability to completely implode at any moment.
Cleo, a very manly looking Brazilian woman, had scored his first penalty of the night in the
first half but this time Lukasz Fabianski had the measure of him, dived to his right and made an
excellent save.
Arsenal's win over Partizan Belgrade last night tells lots of interesting stuff from two penalty
misses and also the hailing of Lukas Fabianski in the Gunner's goal.
The young keeper, who was given a chance by Arsene Wenger this midweek to replace the injured
Manuel Almunia looks to gain the manager confidence to keep him in starting line up.
