Arsène Wenger knows the title bid of his Arsenal side was lucky to survive November. But, having
done so, they are now in prime position to steal a march on their rivals during December.
The Frenchman took his team into eight games last month.
When I was growing up we used to joke that the Indian Cricket team always provided the audience
with value for money in terms of thrills and chills. In those days the Indian cricketers had the
ability to turn the easiest of wins into nail-biting encounters. Seems to me, Wenger has been
inspired by that lot.
First-half Player of the Season:
1. Samir Nasri (Average Rating: 7.24, Man of the Match 5 times):
You could tell in preseason that Nasri was rested, motivated from his World Cup snub, and
generally ready to kick some ass this season.

Na Na Na Na Samir!
The day started with Arsenal placed at the 3rd position, desperately hoping to move up the table.
It was facing a Fulham team which hadn't won a single game away from home this season. When the day
ended, Arsenal had won the game 2-1 and finished on top of the table! Read on to find out how.
With Man United coming up next weekend, it is guaranteed that Wenger will be making a lot of
changes for Tuesdays game against Partizan Belgrade. There is a lot of bull talked about the
possibility that Arsenal could get knocked out, but the fact is that the chances are so slim its
not even worth [..
This is a big week for the red side of North London. Sitting on top of the league and finally
winning games is all well and good, but Arsenal are far from a side convincing to watch.
The Emirates, which by the way was louder than usual, was full of seemingly stunned fans after
the Fulham game.
The FIFA Club World Cup starts with the Al Wadha - Hekari play-in game on Fox Soccer Channel at

Tomorrow night we draw the curtain on what has been a Champions League group stage of two
halves. The first we were breaking records and annihilating teams and the second, so far, we have
been dreadful.
Forgive me for feeling negative about this Champions League campaign but can we really get to
the semi's, or the final, and win, with the amount of goals we are conceding?
Arsenal won their first three Champions League Group games this season, and looked like they were
going to comfortably top the group, but successive defeats to both Shakhtar Donetsk and Braga have
left the needing a win against Partizan Belgrade to ensure they qualify in second place. Arsene
Wenger has admitted that he decided to risk [.
Partizan Belgrade may not have won a point in the first five games of the Champions League Group
stages, but they are determined to put that right at the Emirates this evening as Arsenal are under
great pressure to get the win to make sure of qualification to the knockout stages. Partizan's star
winger Ivica Iliev [.
Arsenal / Partizan By Phil Gregory Following on from Smair Nasri versus Fulham, Partizan come to
the Emirates. After a tight game in Belgrade , which arguably marked the turning point in
Fabianski's Arsenal career, the final match of the group stage offers us an outside chance of first
place in the group.

Here's an idea. Lets not bother with the Champions League, and concentrate on the League and
other domestic trophies. One problem. That idea was not mine. Another problem is that I want the
Champions League more than anything. I am getting older and I am a chronic hypochondriac.
With every passing moment, the focus keeps increasing exponentially on Arsenal's massive Premier
League visit to Manchester United this coming Monday. The stakes couldn't be higher for the Gunners
as they'll be playing their bitter rivals at Old Trafford in a match that could determine the
legitimacy of their title credentials.
Arsenal will be hoping that they can secure a safe passage into the knockout stages, with the
Gunners having made hard work of Group H. Arsene Wenger would have hoped to have had a top-two
finish sewn up by now, but the Frenchman knows his side must take three points from a home date
with Partizan Belgrade to guarantee scraping through and avoid becoming the most notable scalp of
this season's competition.
There's really only one game that matters today: the Arsenal v Partizan matchup. We've been
focusing a lot on the Gunners this week (apologies to Spurs fans) though can you blame us? What
with the classy showing from the overbite last weekend, and now with the top team in England (game
in hand, of course) on the verge of disqualification, we simply can't help ourselves.
Arsenal scored two late goals to edge past Serbian side Partizan Belgrade to book their place in
the knock out stages of the Champions League.
Robin van Persie scored the opener from the penalty spot after he was taken down by Marko
Jovanovic, before highly-rated striker Cleo netted the equaliser early on in the second half to
silence the home crowd.
All four English clubs reached the knockout stage of the Champions League: although Chelsea were
beaten in France and it took Arsenal longer than it should have done to put their game against
Partizan Belgrade to bed, they join Manchester United and Spurs in the draw for the 'round of
sixteen' (the eighth finals in old money) which takes place on Friday 17th at 11:00am GMT.
Having battled their way past Partizan Belgrade at the Emirates, Arsenal are in the knockout stage
of the Champions League with manager Arsene Wenger having no preferred option for the next round.

Arsenal limped into the Champions League knockout stages last night with an uninspiring 3-1 win
over Partizan Belgrade at the Emirates, but had to make do with second place after Shakhtar beat
Braga 2-0 to top the group with 15 points. Wenger may now regret playing a weakened team against
Shakhtar in the Ukraine as this [.
Arsenal survived a nervous night at Emirates Stadium to defeat Partizan Belgrade and book a place
in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, but already-qualified Chelsea suffered their first
defeat of the campaign at Marseille. Elsewhere, Roma reached the knockout stages after a draw with
CFR Cluj, while Bayern Munich made light work of Basel, and Spartak Moscow came from behind to
defeat MSK Zilina in a match affected by crowd trouble.

The Arsenal winger Theo Walcott is becoming known as a full-time impact sub, and he did it again in
midweek when he was brought on against Partizan Belgrade and managed to regain the lead for the
Gunners. But with Mondays game against Man Utd coming up, Walcott is seriously hoping that Arsene
Wenger finally decides to [.
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has said that current Gunner Andrei Arshavin was
"disappointing" for Arsene Wenger's side in their last Champions League fixture. The North London
outfit needed a win against Partizan Belgrade earlier this week, and while they were delighted to
get the win, their Russian star left more to be desired.
Theo Walcott believes Arsenal can bring an end to Manchester United's unbeaten start to the season,
and is hopeful of playing a key role at Old Trafford on Monday.
United are the only team not to have lost a game in the Premier League, but with the Gunners
heading to Manchester as the league leaders, Walcott believes they must approach the fixture with
"no fear" if they are to maintain their position at the top of the table.
Liverpool are rumoured to be readying a January bid for Partizan Belgrade striker Cleo. Anfield
boss Roy Hodgson has been monitoring the progress of the Brazilian and believes the powerfully
built 25 year old could act as a good foil for Fernando Torres and would add more variety to an
attack that has lacked a spark this season.
