With the MLS transfer window set to close on Friday, 22-year-old playmaking midfielder Freddy Adu
is set to join the Union, according to multiple sources.
The team will make the official announcement Friday at noon at PPL Park.
"The important thing is that we try shuffle the front line a little bit," said coach Peter Nowak on
Thursday, when asked about any incoming personnel.
Former American soccer prodigy Freddy Adu is signing with the Philadelphia Union, according to
Soccer by Ives.
Adu hasn't been in MLS since leaving Real Salt Lake in 2007 for Portuguese giants Benfica. The
22-year-old's soccer career has been stalled because of indifference from Benfica and a failure to
impress while on loan with Monaco, Belenenses and Aris.

Freddy Adu, surging against Mexico...
The juxtaposition could not be more stark....
Freddy Adu returning to MLS.
Had I told you that statement would make our publication say two, three years ago you would
swear the publish date was 2020 and Adu's resume would include at least one European trophy in
hand.

The newest member of the Philadelphia Union is our guest on the latest KYW Philly Soccer Show
podcast as Freddy Adu joins KYW's Greg Orlandini and PSP's Eli Pearlman-Storch. Adu joined MLS as a
14-year-old in 2004, winning a MLS Cup with Union Coach Peter Nowak when both were at DC
