International fixtures are the lifeline for the 22-year-old's professional career no matter what
his club form is like at the time.
Around every two years, it seems, Freddy Adu reappears in the consciousness of American soccer
fans - and sometimes sports fans in general - putting on the United States Men's National Team's
(USMNT) jersey and running out onto the pitch to compete.

The juxtaposition could not be more stark....
Freddy Adu returning to MLS.
Had I told you that statement would make our publication say two, three years ago you would

hand.
With the MLS transfer window set to close on Friday, 22-year-old playmaking midfielder Freddy Adu
is set to join the Union, according to multiple sources.
The team will make the official announcement Friday at noon at PPL Park.
"The important thing is that we try shuffle the front line a little bit," said coach Peter Nowak on
Thursday, when asked about any incoming personnel.
Former American soccer prodigy Freddy Adu is signing with the Philadelphia Union, according to
Soccer by Ives.
Adu hasn't been in MLS since leaving Real Salt Lake in 2007 for Portuguese giants Benfica. The
22-year-old's soccer career has been stalled because of indifference from Benfica and a failure to
impress while on loan with Monaco, Belenenses and Aris.
Philadelphia Union head coach Piotr Nowak and assistant coach John Hackworth head a team of
front office staff members that looks to defeat a Sons of Ben team for charity.
The Union released the bigger names on their River Cup team, with Nowak and Hackworth the most
notable names on the list.
