Is it just me or has The Score become the biggest instigator in Canada since Ty Domy? Hot on the
heels of their 17 minutes in Ali Gerba-heaven video they've got a half-hour of former Toronto coach
Chris Cummins just going off on the phone on MoJo and TFC. If you don't have a spare 30 minutes to
watch the whole shebangabang, here's the highlights.
The U.S. Open Cup just got interesting y'all. One of my all-time favorite rivalries, the
Portland-Seattle beef, is getting trotted out one last time before the Timbers join the Sounders in
MLS next season; somewhere in downtown Portland, a Timbers ticket sales rep is dreaming of the fat
commission check this game is sure to bring him.
What's with all the unusual (and unnecessary) violence in soccer lately? The other day a player
tried to choke out a ref. Today a team and it's coach try to put the smack down on the media. What
happened to the good old days when players only tried to maim each other?
I recently said that I've been trying not to write anything that I wouldn't say to someone's face
and here's a great example of why that's a good move. You never know when your snide remark will be
seen/heard by it's subject and when it is you better have the stones to back up it. Otherwise you
come off all chickensh*t like this dude.
RBNY coach Hans Backe wondered where the 5,000 Union supporters he heard about were last Saturday
because they weren't at Red Bull Arena. Union President Tom Veit wonders where Backe gets his
figures. I'm wondering if the I-95 beef heating up for real or if this is just hot-breathed talk
for the sake of a story ahead of tonight's rematch.
Y'all ready for the American soccer equivalent of Miley Cyrus vs. Demi Lovato? Good because
Portland & Seattle are going to go at it tonight at PGE Park and there is a good chance that it
ain't gonna be pretty.
If you can't make it to the match due to lack of funds, you can watch it at PortlandTimbers.
Dang y'all. Ljungberg bid adieu to Seattle on live TV the other night; it's not totally amazing but
still interesting. He keeps it classy but does make a point to clarify that he wanted to train and
play with the team and wasn't allowed...which is interesting. I'm sure we'll here the "she said"
from Seattle soon enough but until then 1-0 to the Swede.
So last week while I was away there was apparently some sort of kerfuffle involving a co-worker of
mine and some fans of a certain soccer team from the Buckeye State. Needless to say I couldn't just
stand on the sidelines while said co-worker took heat...so I decided to bring the heat to him as
well.
