North America's premier footie beef finally comes to The Big Apple and getting in will be harder
than getting a table for four at Babbo on a Saturday. Tomorrow's final at The Meadowlands is
officially sold out. If you don't have tickets by now you better know somebody...and maybe even
biblically.
Now that The Rumpus in Columbus™ is but a week away, expect the hype to start arriving at
NME-pace. Frank "The Tank" Dell'Apa over at ESPN Soccernet gets us started with a great
piece on the origins of the U.S.-Mexico rivalry in which Alexi Lalas makes liars out of Bora
Milutinovic and Sunil Gulati; His Ginger Majesty™ is the only one of the three prepared to
acknowledge the full range of passion involved in this rivalry while the latter claim their is
"no hate" between the two sides.

You may have recently read that Bruce Arena received the award for Coach of the Year for rescuing
the LA Galaxy from the depths of the last few seasons all the way to the Western Conference final.
The most high-profile part of his salvage job was the healing of the San Andreas Fault-sized rift
between Lando & Becks.
Beef never dies, it just goes on hiatus. Don't believe me? Double click the pic.
If you have a minute head to SI.com and check out their photo essay on the Top 10 U.S.-Mexico match
ups. I disagreed with the greatness of a few of their selections, but that's most likely because I
fail to see anything great in the U.S. getting clocked 4-0 by anyone, let alone Mexico. Good thing
I'm not a journalist otherwise I would have to feign impartiality about all this.
Damn, if ever there was a reason to broadcast a Lamar Hunt US Open Cup match that is not the final
this is it. Portland won their second round match last night vs. some PDL side or other and will
now host sworn enemy Seattle Sounders at PGE Park on July 1st. We thought the Rose City-Jet City
rivalry was on ice on until 2011 but I guess beef waits for no one, least of all the guy making
schedules for the USOC.
