Alejandro Bedoya tweeted the above image today when he came across a story on the Son of Ben in the
UK edition of GQ.
I have no idea what prompted a British mag to feature an American supporters group, but its clear
that the SoB legend has broken free of US shores. Headed into their second season, the group has
become a model for soccer fans in other cities desperate to bring MLS to their hometowns through
expansion.
The first U.S. national team match of the year won't feature many familiar faces. In fact, there
are no players who could be considered first-choice national team options. No, Saturday's friendly
against Chile is instead about new faces and Bob Bradley's chance to see how a new crop of MLS
players can measure up in what will be a first or second appearance for many of them.

Bunbury....bang!
The kids were allowed to stay up late on Saturday night.
U.S. Soccer announced today there is no English-language TV coverage of the U.S.-Chile game
scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 22 at Home Depot Center in Carson, although you'll notice the time change
apparently made at the behest of Telemundo and ESPN3.com.
About 8,000 tickets have now been sold for the game.
The MLS Supplemental Draft doesn't have the hype or get the attention of the MLS "Super" Draft
but there were still good values to be had during Tuesday's draft.
The Vancouver Whitecaps began proceedings by taking UCSB centerback Michael Boxall with the
first pick to get the draft going.
United States Men's National Team: Sean Johnson will not be starting
Per U.S. Soccer's Twitter page, Sean Johnson will not be starting in goal tonight. Bob Bradley,
I am disappoint.
Starting lineup #USMNTvCHI 4-2-3-1: Rimando; Franklin, Ream, Gonzalez, Loyd; Larentowicz,
McCarty (C); Bedoya, Diskerud, Shea; Wondolowski
1. The January Camp friendlies rarely provide the most exciting matches normally our MLS-ers
against a decent country's domestic-leaguers but they do provide a glimpse at our youth (most
players on our roster are under 25). For a lucky few, it can even propel them into the first-team
conversation.
Players and coaches have been arriving all day as the 2011 edition of the annual January camp is
set to begin in earnest tomorrow. By night's end, 22 of the 24 players on the roster will have
unpacked their bags here in Los Angeles. The final two are Alejandro Bedoya, who will remain in
pre-season training with Orebro until his report date of Jan.
Seems like a lot of news for a new year, no?
Lilly ran away from defenders and everyone in the stats department...
• Bigger than MJ....seriously
Kristine Lilly has just announced her retirement from the US Women's National Team this morning
after 6,435,943 caps.

STORY OF THE DAYSimon Evans of Reuters talks to the USA FIFA representative Chuck Blazer about the 2022 World Cup

This young U.S. team took a break from the daily exercises against each other in January Camp to
get a look at a different opponent, playing a closed door scrimmage against the Canada U-23
National Team. Two goals on either side of halftime capped off a solid effort from players getting
in their first 11 v.
We've got US camp stuff, as usual, but also quite a bit more. Tomorrow night, you can look for my
U.S. Player Ratings after the Chile friendly, which I will be watching at the local 4 a.m. start
time with Greg Lalas, in town for the Amsterdam Kicking & Screening Film Festival. And Sunday, I'll
have another sitcom video Top 5'er.
The U.S. men's national team plays its first match of 2011 Saturday night against Chile at the
Home Depot Center. There is no national TV coverage of the game.
Because tomorrow is not a FIFA sanctioned date, none of the U.S.'s European players like Tim
Howard or Clint Dempsey will be playing.

The U.S. men's national team will open a new year and new four-year World Cup cycle tonight when
the Americans take on Chile at Home Depot Center (10pm, Telefutura/ESPN3.com).
Bob Bradley will be fielding a young squad against a Chile side made up of domestic league
players.
A very young and inexperienced U.S. side showed a lot of heart in coming back to draw 1-1 with
Chile. Esteban Paredes scored the opening goal of the match for Chile early in the second half
while Teal Bunbury equalized from the spot late in the match.
As expected Bob Bradley continued to look for new faces for the national team as seven MLS-based
Americans; Eric Alexander, Sean Franklin, Jeff Larentowicz, Zach Loyd, Sean Johnson, Chris
Wondolowski and Anthony Wallace, all earned their first senior-team caps.
Last night saw a very young USMNT roster leaving even some diehards saying "The Who?". In fact,
23 year-old Alejandro Bedoya was the player with the most caps for the US with a total of 6 and 23
year-old Dax McCarty wore the captain's arm band. Many other players earned their 1st or 2nd cap by
playing including the Chicago Fire's own Sean Johnson.
Here's a look back at the USA's 1-1 draw against Chile that drew 18,580 fans, the most ever for an
MNT friendly at The Home Depot Center.
