Random Thoughts on the MLS Cup

Major League Soccer Talk 19 November @ 12:09 PM EST

After that cesspool of a result in Paris on Wednesday, it is nice to turn our attention to a league where the sportsmen are pure, the referees are beyond reproach and the game is always played with a spirit of manly honor – the MLS. Or something like that.

Sunday's game will feature the best team in the west this season against the best team in the west right now.

Guest Blog: AMT's Post About Nothing

DCUMD 17 November @ 06:52 PM EST

First off, thanks to Shatz for asking me to fill in for a minute around these parts, and thanks to Twitter (Follow me @the_amt!) for bringing fans and bloggers together. Cue the cheesy wink.

Since Shatz asked me to guest-blog last week, I've been trying to think of a topic to cover, but most of them just caused me mental and/or emotional pain.

One Game In Two Days; LA vs Houston (and other points to ponder)

The Offside - Houston 16 November @ 01:35 PM EST

Greetings, Dynamo fans. As we are all well aware, our beloved Orange fell short of the 2009 championship. It was a valiant effort against David Beckham and the LA Galaxy. Watching from Houston, the Dynamo played well on Friday night, but early Saturday was a different story.

As midnight passed, LA took advantage of two costly fouls by Ricardo Clark.

David Beckham to get a pair of micro pigs for Christmas

Becks signs AC Milan deal

Soccerblog 02 November @ 10:31 PM EST

With his contribution key to the Galaxy making the playoffs, Beck's Milan departure raises fewer eyebrows. He will play his first Serie game on January 6th and if all goes as planned, he will join the Galaxy after the World Cup.

I am of the camp that the criticism which he received on his return was fully deserved.

Inthestands.co.uk - Football Banter For the Masses - Football Blog 02 November @ 09:00 PM EST

We all know about 34 year old David Beckham, a cracking set piece taker and he has a phenomenal range of passing but he was never the quickest or the most skilful of players. Due to his ability to whip in a dangerous ball from anywhere on the pitch he has never had to change his game, but during the first leg of LA Galaxy's play off against Chivas, Becks showed us a few new tricks.

Beckham “Seals” Milan Deal

You may be wondering why the name at the top is neither Daryl nor Rob. I'll introduce myself, I'm Matilda, I also write for Bolton Offside. Both Rob and Daryl will still be writing here, I'm just a little addendum.

Milan chief executive, Adriano Galliani, has come out with the wonderfully self contradictory statement:

"It's practically certain at 100 per cent, the only thing missing is the signatures, but the agreement is complete.

Becks Involved in Red Card Fracas

Premiership Talk Blog 21 October @ 12:53 AM EST

David Beckham was at the center of controversy once again this past weekend as he was involved in a red card fracas.

As the Los Angeles Galaxy squared up with Western Conference rivals Houston Dynamo, Beckham went in late and hard on Houston player Ricardo Clark. Houston captain Brian Ching was not pleased with Beckham's challenge at all, and the American forward promptly pushed Becks in the face and exchanged some harsh words.

David Beckham Said No to Liverpool

Premiership Talk Blog 19 October @ 11:58 PM EST

In preparation for the 2010 World Cup, David Beckham once again sought out a move to Europe following the close of the Major League Soccer season. His destination of choice was a return to San Siro with AC Milan, but the Rossoneri weren't the only ones making a move for Becks. If Rafa Benitez could have his way, Becks would be preparing for a move to Liverpool.

Becks Needs New Briefs!

I will be the first young lady to say that I "stan" for David Beckham. It was shocking to learn over the weekend that he is in need of new briefs. His contract with Armani as the go to footballer eye candy has been transferred to none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. Although it's a sad ending to a great revenue stream for Becks, I feel like it is a great passing of the torch. Click to continue reading...

Beckham in line for Serie A return

Serie A Talk 06 October @ 05:49 AM EST

Former Real Madrid midfielder and all round football superstar David Beckham is planning a return to Serie A. The 34-year-old enjoyed a productive loan spell with AC Milan during the latter half of last season and Becks claims he is closing in on a move back to the San Siro.

Beckham, one of the Manchester United youth academy's most famous graduates, confirmed he has interest from England but admitted he would feel uncomfortable playing in the Premier League if it wasn't for United.

Chivas USA, from a British Point of View (Guest Blogger Simon)

Chivas USA from the Stands 28 September @ 06:20 PM EST

The Crowd=The Passion

Goats v Bulls ,

My name is Simon a 30 something Brit now living here in sunny California ,

I was born in Swindon England where I lived pretty much all my life ,

My team is my home town club Swindon Town F.C. , an unfashionable

Small team from Wiltshire , for 30 years I followed my Robins from the lows of

The old division 4 to the dizzy high of the premiership only to fall from

Grace to the foot of England's professional leagues ,

On arrival to the states I was keen to check out the local "soccer" for my personal

Views about football and my ultra mentality I could not follow nor shout for galaxy ,

For their golden boy becks and his one time links to Manchester Utd , but for now I shall

Save those views for another time ,

Chivas USA came to my attention and now for the last year the goats have substituted my Robins ,

For my footballing fix.

I’ve got three words: LA Galaxy vs. Toronto FC post-game analysis

The Offside - LA Galaxy 20 September @ 02:13 PM EST

AP Photo

And those words are: Getting it done.

One week after giving up the most goals in team history, the Los Angeles Galaxy put together perhaps their most complete game of the season (though the Fire game at Toyota Park is in the running), shutting out a talented Toronto FC side to become only the fourth team in MLS history to record a shut-out immediately after giving up six goals.

Galaxy 1 Toronto 0

Better from the Galaxy this week (could it get any worse?) helped considerably by a brittle-looking Toronto defense.

The Fake Sigi Schmid Blog 14 September @ 08:21 AM EST
His transformation is complete. From having it out with his own fans, to this (via Bill Archer):
Yeah, he probably won't be back next year. Just a guess.
But to pause for a moment and compare Beckham's villainy to that of Adebayor (both have antagonized fans who supported them and conducted acts of violence on the field toward other players), I think the argument can be made that Becks comes off as less of a monster. Click to continue reading...
