Mitchell scores fifth treble of season, 26th goal of year

Kayla Mitchell scored four goals, including her conference-leading 26th of the season, as the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team posted its 12th shutout, a 4-0 victory against CSU-Pueblo on Friday in Golden.

The Orediggers have shut out seven of their past eight opponents.

Mitchell gave Mines a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, when Liz Oba chipped a ball over the CSU-Pueblo defense.

James Copeland scored as the Regis University men's soccer team tied the 15th-ranked Colorado School of Mines on Friday in Denver.

Regis remained unbeaten in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The Rangers' record is 4-2-3 overall, 2-0-3 in conference.

"Whenever you play Mines, it is going to be a tough match, especially when they are ranked in the Top 15," Regis coach Tony McCall said.

DENVER — Senior Becca Mays scored three goals and freshman Annie Austin added two as the Metropolitan State College women's soccer team handed the Colorado School of Mines its first loss, a 6-1 thumping Saturday at the Auraria Fields in Denver. Mines entered the game with 4-0 record and was ranked 20th by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The Real Colorado Cougars won two games during a three-game swing in Southern California, beating Ventura County and Los Angeles and falling to W-League powerhouse Pali Blues.

Beth West, Becca Mays and Brittney McDonald scored for the Cougars in a 3-1 victory over Ventura County, and Kellyn Farrell, a right midfielder who is a recent graduate of South Dakota State, assisted on all three goals.
