Football and schadenfreude are frequent bedfellows. The ability to derive pleasure from the
misery of others is a genuine component of supporting a football club. You get a kick seeing your
rivals doing poorly and when a player you find particularly distasteful encounters misfortune you
take pleasure from it.
Ahead of his move to Turkey, Bebe has spoken of his regret at failing to make an impact during
his début season at United after signing for £7m last summer.
"I was happy to come to the best team in Turkey," said Bebe. "I want to prove that
Ferguson was not wrong by hiring me.

Manchester United and Liverpool have both be criticised for over paying for players,
however, what about those clubs that got it totally wrong? Here are 11 of the worst signings from
recent Premier League history.

As most of you have probably heard by now, the Phil Jones debacle has finally drawn to a close.
There appears to be conflicting reports on the final agreed upon fee that we paid to Blackburn.
Some are saying that we compromised and arrived at a figure close to 20m so as not to draw this out
longer than necessary.

It's not set in stone quite yet, but the Press Association are reporting this afternoon that
Villa star Ashley Young or, more accurately, his agents have held initial talks with Manchester
United over a £16 million (what is it with that particular price tag at the moment?
It was great to see Becks, Butt and Phil putting on that jersey again. It felt like they never
left.
Becks looked like he's still got it. His delivery was exceptional all night long and his hustle
for the 90 minutes reminded everyone why we loved him and how like Giggsy, he's expanded his game
to extend his playing career.
Bebe, who joined Manchester United in the summer for £7m, was comically described as looking
like a competition winner during training sessions.
The 20-year old hasn't featured for the first team since our FA Cup game against Crawley. He has
made 7 appearances in all competitions, 2 of those in the league as subs.
Last night, both Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill confirmed that we will be busy in the transfer
market this summer.
Does that mean busy like Obertan and Bebe? Or busy like Modric or Sneijder?
"It probably will be slightly busier than normal," Gill said. "Gary has retired
already.
The word coming out of OT is that our Ginger Price remains reluctant to sign the extension being
offered to him. It appears that for Scholesy, it's all or nothing. As per SAF, if Scholes can't
contribute at a high level (play most of the games), then he won't be coming back and this would be
his farewell season.
After CR7 left Manchester United for Real Madrid two years ago, United brought in a promising
french winger named Gabriel Obertan to help fill that void. After a year and a half, I'm really
starting to question if Obertan is going to make the grade.
During the season Obertan has had his detractors for his performances, I was not one of them.
The squad that flew out to face Marseille has been revealed. Have you seen it? The French
champions must be licking their chops...
Squad:Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Lindegaard; Vidic, O'Shea, Brown, Rafael, Fabio, Evra,
Smalling; Scholes, Gibson, Nani, Carrick, Fletcher, Bebe, Obertan, Tunnicliffe; Rooney, Berbatov,
Hernandez, King.
If history is a reliable guide to the mindset of Sir Alex Ferguson, do not be surprised if the
abject performances of Manchester United's fringe players against non-league Crawley Town leads to
a swift and ruthless purge at Old Trafford.
The likes of Gabriel Obertan, Bebe and Darron Gibson probably woke this morning with the
temptation to pull themselves back under the duvet in a desperate attempt to banish the memory of
Saturday's embarrassingly narrow 1-0 FA Cup fifth round victory against the Sussex minnows.
When United are your local team, whilst you're obviously always aware of the size of it
globally, it takes weekends like this to remind you of just how massive this club is.
Watching the reaction of the Crawley fans seeing their team get drawn against United was great
viewing. It makes you realise that as a United fan, there are certain things you'll never get to
experience.
The journalists have been waiting for this. "The Big One," I hear one say gleefully. "Red Devils
v Red Devils!" exclaims another. But the truth is, they're most likely to be disappointed. A
giant-killing is improbable at Old Trafford, unless of course, you mean that literally and United
thump in goals from all corners.
Manchester United's Brazilian midfielder Anderson has revealed that for the past few months he's
been functioning as the club's babysitter for new signing Bébé. Bébé joined the club from
Portuguese football's lower divisions, and to help ease his transition to England he's been staying
with Anderson.
