Can you make any sense of what's going on here? Beatles/Yellow Submarine? A princess? Pesi?!
My eyes are bleeding and I think I've forgotten how to tie my shoes.

Whaddya mean I look like a Newcastle supporter?
Ah, Friday. A day for cutting out early to spend extra time with your true loves. By which I
mean alcohol and Dapper Dan. Your liver might complain, but the ladies won't, and that pesky organ
will just have to learn to keep its place. Until then, try to look busy while you catch up with the
various Liverpool goings on and sip discreetly from the flask in your desk.
This week's Shit Shot Mungo sees Mungo McCrackas resolutely fail to change the course of history
when, having slipped through a portal in time and space, he ends up playing in the 1967 England vs
Scotland home international match. He then goes on to reacquaint himself with Celebrity Ghost Agent
Eric Hall and also gets to meet The Beatles, before finally getting back to twenty-first century
Clackmannanshire.
Presenting to you Greaseaño in all his Waxiness! Si,
it sounds absurd, but this is a brilliant shot of his hair doing what it does best at most matches
: literally standing by him. Now THIS is dedication...Ricky Martin would be proud! Anyway,
CR's Cabelo had nothing to do with his penalty for Los Blancos in their
2-0 win over Racing last night.
elementos...
My favorite episodes of NPR's All Songs Considered are when Bob Boilen, Steven Thompson, Robin
Hilton and Carrie Brownstein get together. Like the Popdose Podcast and my favorite WFW episodes,
it's friends sharing their love of music and gently poking fun at each other's eccentric tastes and
guilty pleasures.

Mascherano: I'm very proud
"My team is Mascherano and ten others."
Those words, uttered by Diego Maradona in his first press conference as Argentina coach,
highlighted the importance of Javier Mascherano to his country.
The 26-year-old has been wearing the Albiceleste jersey for seven years now, and has become such
an important cog in the midfield that he now sports the captain's armband.

The launch will be supported by an advertising campaign 'Made from 100% Chelsea' developed by
pop artist and Chelsea fan Sir Peter Blake.
Blake, who most famously designed the artwork for the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts
Club Band and Oasis' greatest hits album Stop the Clocks, has created a variety of montages
depicting Chelsea's history and heritage.

Can I make a recommendation? Yes? Good. You should buy an AC St. Louis pint glass today and I'll
give you four reasons why.
- It's Friday. And Friday night is alright for pints.
- At $25 a pop it's such a big F-U to sensible shopping during a recession that you kind of have
to buy it or the economic terrorists have won.
With the World Cup only 8 days away, it only seemed fitting that our guest (via phone) this week
was 1/2 of the father-son duo behind the recent book "World Cup 2010: The Indispensable Guide to
Soccer and Geopolitics": Mr. Harrision Stark.
Stark, a rising senior at Brown University, got on the line to discuss the book with Taylor.
The last few weeks have been all about World Cup previews. Many many World Cup previews and team
profiles and predictions. I'm not complaining. It's part of the fun. But with so many preview,
profiles and predictions it can all get a bit samey, and so originality becomes a thing to be
cherished.
We tried to make our own World Cup team profiles a little interesting by including categories
like "Best Youtube Video" and "Best Player Nickname".

Every music nut goes through a Beach Boys and/or Beatles phase. Speaking as a former record store
geek, it is widely accepted that at some point all record store geeks experience a time in their
life when they feel that Pet Sounds and Revolver are the greatest thing to happen to human ears
since multiple piercings and have to either A) tell you this with an annoying regularity or B)
start a band to try to emulate Pet Sounds and Revolver to no avail.

There are a couple of reasons why international kits tend to look a lot better than club
kits:
1. The lack of a sponsor's logo
2. The designs don't change much, so they have more time to develop classic status.
Argentina's home shirt, with its pale blue-and-white horizontal stripes, is as iconic to me as
the ubiquitous yellow of Brazil; and if Brazil are the Beatles, then Argentina are the Stones:
edgier, dirtier, meaner, more dangerous.
En Retrofootball seguimos analizando los grandes equipos que han hecho historia en la Copa de

Maybe you have heard of the conspiracy theory that Paul McCartney died in 1966 and was secretly
replaced by a look-alike.In September 1969, American college students published articles claiming
that clues to McCartney's death could be found among the lyrics and artwork of The Beatles'
recordings.
A suscpiciously similar conspiracy theory about Paul the Octopus is now going to be made into a
movie.
Every so often, on my perambulations around the footballing part of the internet, I come across
a discussion of the Beatles and football: they were Scousers, in their sly way, after all. Were
they Liverpool fans? Old Evertonians? Was the Walrus really Dave Hickson? Etc.
The story that usually emerges is that none of the Beatles (George Best included) was
particularly devoted to football.
As these articles are required to begin: "It was thirty years ago today..."
Thirty years since John Lennon was killed in New York.
Football and Music has more on the relationship between The Beatles and football - turns out they
weren't all that bothered. Although there is also a suggestion that Brian Epstein told them not to
make their allegiances clear to avoid upsetting the red or blue sides of Liverpool.
