So the USA have announced their final 23 a couple of days earlier, so we can see the pool of
players that will line up against England in our opening World Cup encounter on 12th June. 17 are
based in Europe, nine in the UK (Not incluiding DaMarcus Beasley, who is unattached but most
recently played for Rangers, or Landon Donovan, who had a brief but successful spell at Everton
earlier in the season).
The KC Star had the story last night, along with the sweet picture that we borrowed above of PV
marking Beasley back when he played for Chicago. Here's our press release on the signing. Beasley
will wear #24 and add depth to our wide midfield. He's a left-sided player and a solid finisher,
who scored the first goal in yesterday's 2-0 win over the Brass in a scrimmage.
The roster was just announced. Here it is plus some immediate reaction to it: Keeper (3): Howard,
Guzan, Hannehemann Defense (7): Onweyu, Spector, Cherundolo, DeMerit, Goodson, Bocanegra, Bornstein
Midfield (9): Donovan, Dempsey, Edu, Clark, Bradley, Beasley, Holden, Torres, Feilhaber Forward
(4): Altidore, Buddle, Gomez, Findley The Good I'll start with the good news about this since the
bad news is going to far outweigh it.
The U.S. team has been having a press conference every day since arrival in South Africa (except
for yesterday which was a day off), but today marked the first round table media session as a dozen
players were available in a sit-down format during the team's hour of availability.

Here is Dave's projected starting lineup:

Some readers have suggested that Bradley might be going with a 4-5-1 with Jozy alone at the
top.

While we all wait for MLS to either reach a labor deal or begin an ugly labor war, it's probably a
good time for our latest installment of Your Questions Answered. There just so happen to be a few
MLS labor-related questions in this first installment of the January Answers.

Welcome to the latest installment of Your Questions Answered. This is the fourth part of our
January set of questions, with topics ranging from the U.S. national team lineups to Major League
Soccer.
Wondering how an MLS All-Star team would do in the EPL?
Fulham ended up losing 3 2, but Clint Dempsey's wonderstrike will still make this a memorable
game for most American soccer fans. I've pondered the idea that this is actually the best goal ever
scored by an American in a top soccer league. Some of you may point to John Harkes' goal against
Derby County, but I'm giving Clint extra points for hitting his shot on the volley.
Tonight's loss should be taken with a grain of salt. I doubt more then two or three of the
players we saw deployed by Bob Bradley tonight will be on the plane to South Africa. That said,
it's a little embarrassing to be trounced by Honduras on your home turf. Hopefully this will be a
wake up call for players like Benny Feilhaber and Jonathan Bornstein.
(I think the wry look on Carlos' face says it all.)
A few weeks ago I wrote a post about the options the USMNT has in central midfield, but now
seems to be a good time to discuss a more troubled position in the team: leftback. During the World
Cup qualifying campaign and Confederations Cup, Bob Bradley made use of four different fullbacks on
the left (Pearce, Beasley, Bornstein, and Bocanegra).
While we wait for the highlight reel, you can enjoy 101 Great Goals' 101 Greatest Goals of
2009/2010 below. As for my USMNT World Cup squad prediction? Howard, Hahnemann, Guzan, Cherundolo,

Newcastle striker Andy Carroll was given a rather unfriendly welcome to his new neighborhood
last evening around 7:00 PM. The EPL forward recently moved in with his side's captain Kevin Nolan
due to being involved in a domestic dispute incident with his live-in girlfriend earlier in the
week.
Almost 11 years ago I went to my last professional indoor soccer game, it was Dino Delevski bobble
head night and the Comets defeated the Milwaukee Wave that night (I don't remember the score, so
please don't ask). Tomorrow I'll be going to another professional indoor game, as the Comets return
and will again take on the Milwaukee Wave.
Here's a recent goal that DeMarcus Beasley scored for Glasgow Rangers in a game against Dundee
United.
Not good. This is the second time that Beasley has had to deal with property being vandalized.
Beasley's team mates Allan McGregor, Kevin Thomson, and Kenny Miller have also had their cars
damaged or defaced.
Property crime is fairly common in Scotland and although there has been a dip, the first in 30
years the rates are still higher than other developed countries.

Clockwork Orange crushed us yesterday. Well, not "crushed" really. They didn't beat us into
submission or subject us to any ultraviolence. They kind of gave us the ol' in out, in out though,
and we played like we had a pain in our gulliver. Viddy well, little brothers though, we will
bounce back.

They were playing the third ranked team in the world. And the final score was 2-1. So all in
all you can't be too critical of the U.S. performance in the friendly against the Dutch earlier in
the week, right?
Well think again.
The U.S. didn't play terrible in the match and in fact as the ninety minutes unfolded the
Americans looked stronger and stronger leading up to the finish.
We rapidly approach the start of the season and many South Florida Soccer fans keep asking me for
information about the team, the players, the stadium, etc.
Well, I decided to put together this list of everything Miami FC related. Links from the actual
news media to blogs to discussion groups.
One of the most interesting developments in US soccer over this World Cup cycle is the migration of
American talent to Europe. The number of yanks abroad has been steadily increasing, as are the
contributions to their teams:
World Cup Squad Breakdowns
MLS YA 1998 16 6 2002 11 12 2006 11 12
Even though the breakdown was the same for 2002 and 2006, it's clear that the amount of YA talent
increased dramatically.
"Rangers haven't spoken to me about coming back so I guess you can put two and two together and
make your own conclusions,'' said Beasley, whose three years in Scottish football have been
blighted by injury. "But never say never. I would consider (a pay cut) so I wouldn't count that
out.
For American fans, DeMarcus Beasley is cut above the rest. He started his career in the MLS with
the Chicago Fire before he moved to PSV Eindhoven. In 2006, he was loaned to Manchester City where
he caught the attention of Glasgow Rangers. In 2007, he was signed by the Rangers with a transfer
fee of £700,000.
Jamar Beasley was in camp and practiced... Mateus Manoel, the new Fitness Coach. He has previously
worked with the Mexican National Team among others. Flying elbow drop? Graham Zusi scored a pair of
beautiful goals.
The latest podcast is now online. Mike and I talk about the World Cup rosters, Wizards players and
the upcoming games with Chicago. Get it from iTunes or from here Just because every post needs a
photo (or 2) Jamar Beasley in the scrimmage with the Brass... Korede Aiyegbusi hustling in the
scrimmage with the Brass.
It has been reported that Jamar Beasley is signing today with the Kansas City Wizards. According to
sources within the team those reports are a little premature. The team and Beasley are talking but
no deal has been finalized at this time. He is still officially trialing with the team. If the
Wizards decide to make Beasley an offer, they will need to find roster room somewhere.
The Wizards are still working to sign forward Jamar Beasley to a contract, and while the deal isn't
done, it's sounding likely it's only a matter of time. With Beasley's signing, that means that the
Wizards will have to create a roster space. It appears that the Wizards have made that move.
According to MLSsoccer.
While it has not been officially announced yet, I have confirmed through multiple sources that Igor
Kostrov has been waived. This is probably to make room for signing Jamar Beasley which has also not
been announced yet. It also frees up a foreign player slot in case the Wizards want to use that for
a DP signing in the summer transfer window.

The U.S. men's national team takes on the Czech Republic tonight (8pm, ESPN2) in their first
of two friendlies before departing to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup.
Tonight will be the last chance for some of the fringe players on the 30-man provisional World
Cup roster to prove themselves and earn a place on the 23-man World Cup roster, which will be
announced on Wednesday.

DaMarcus Beasley's career abroad has seen him play for clubs in the Netherlands, England and
Scotland, and he may soon add Germany to that list.
According to German outlet Bild, Beasley is in talks with Hannover 96 as the club looks for a
replacement for injured winger Carlitos.
Bundesliga outfit, Hannover, is desperate to add attacking midfield options to their ranks after
recently signed Carlitos from FC Basel suffered a cruciate ligament injury to his knee just 30
seconds into his Bundesliga debut on Saturday.
Hannover has a couple of options, but DeMarcus Beasley could be the most favorable catch, as he is
currently a free agent.
U.S. winger DaMarcus Beasley (28) has been snapped up by German Bundesliga side Hannover
96, after being out of contract since his release from Scottish Champions Glasgow Rangers in the
Summer. Hannover have given him a two year-contract as they see the player to be in his prime at
the age of 28.
Thank god Sven Goran Eriksson is still making headlines in England, especially as he is the newly
appointed manager at "And Leicester". Chelsea fan Rob Beasley has interviewed Sven as reported in
todays SUN newspaper and has spoken of the England team and players at the moment.
I won't go into too much detail about everything else covered in that interview but when Sven was
asked,
Should the likes of Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and John Terry retire from
international football now to let other players, younger players, have their chance?
