I got up this morning expecting another tense, dull day to be spattered with the occasional factual
transfer as the transfer window creaked shut getting excited about nothing much in particular. A
day spent scouring the BBC and Sky Sports transfer vidi-printers and tutting at bored 14 year old's
just texting and e-mailing rubbish to [.
Which is the better Premier League highlight show? BBC's Match Of The Day or TWI's Premier League
Review Show? Millions of people around the world watch the highlight packages that feature the best
bits of each Premier League match, so the shows should be quite similar, right? Wrong. Read on to
learn the major differences between the [.
You have to be careful when putting much stock in rumors emanating from the U.K. And even though
this one is coming from the BBC I'm still skeptical since it's listed in the "other
gossip" section, but hey, who knows. It would be a little more believable if they spelled his
name right though.
Last week MLS Rumors broke the story that Major League Soccer had tired off fending off
critics like yours truly and was looking at revamping the entire structure of its season.
Subsequently, The Original Winger and BBC Five Live's Sean Wheelock followed up on this story with
more thoughts. My thinking on this subject is that [.
In one of those "SkySports understands" articles, not to be confused with the similar
"BBC Sport understands" stories, Arsenal have been linked with former Hertha Berlin
midfielder Carlos Luciano da Silva, better known as Mineiro. My research tells me that the
33-year-old Mineiro is definitely a late bloomer in footballing terms.
Something to ponder ahead of the games this weekend.
As first seen here in this posting, MLS insider and commentator Sean Wheelock talked about MLS
examining the Apertura/Clausura type schedule as a solution to several scheduling problems.
Sean Wheelock was a guest on BBC's World Football Phone-In again early this morning UK time.
On last week's Match of the Day, BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson claimed that if tackles like the one
Gael Clichy received at Bolton were banned, the game would be 'for the jessies'. The former
Liverpool defender's words will certainly come back to bite him. First Gael Clichy. Now Man
United's Rodrigo Possebon.
Long-winded people are boring, and writing full sentences is for chumps. So instead you have just
SIX words. Sound easy? Good for you. Manager Kevin Keegan has left Newcastle United after only
eight months in charge, BBC Sport understands. Keegan held talks with the club's board on Tuesday
amid reports he .
"We acknowledge again that the club broke Premier League rules in the original signing of
Carlos Tevez but we were dealt with accordingly by an independent Premier League commission and
accepted the significant punishment handed down at that time.
In light of this and the wider implications of this latest ruling for English football we have
decided to ask that the case be considered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Joe Kinnear has talked to BBB Radio 5Live following his appointment today, and said that Ashley

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher admits Manchester United have been better than the Reds in
recent derbies ahead of their home clash on Saturday.
The Reds have not beaten United in the Premier League since 2004.
Carragher, 30, told BBC Radio Merseyside: "I'm not a great believer in being lucky or unlucky.

As noted earlier, QPR Chairman Flavio Briatore spoke about QPR last night on Radio London.
BBC - Briatore will control QPR funds
Briatore is also the owner of the Renault Formula One team (Getty)
QPR owner Flavio Briatore has told BBC London that he will decide where the club's money is spent.
This piece has been written with due deference to an article in the Guardian Sport Blog this
morning, reappraising the career of the BBC football commentator Barry Davies. I felt that this was
an appropriate time to add my thoughts on a legend of British sports broadcasting. There has long
been a strand of anti-intellectualism [.
Just out some of the stories that the Liverpool defender shares.
First comes dating advice from Sven (I got this off the BBC rumors site, but it's gone now):
"There's no need to have girls in the team hotel. If you see someone you like,
just get her phone number and arrange to go to her house after the game.
Old habits are hard to break. Toronto FC continues to look to Britain's leagues.
This comes to us courtesy of the BBC:
Former Hibernian midfielder Brian Kerr is having signing talks with Major League Soccer outfit
Toronto.
Kerr, capped three times for Scotland, is currently a free agent after his contract with Hibs was
terminated by the Edinburgh club last month.

Newcastle United fans protested during the home game against Hull on Saturday. Some with banners
(see above) others by just flat out not attending. The BBC has some nice video of unhappy Toon Army
fans including one lady who says the new owner has ruined her life. Supporter protests are usually
completely ignored by boards [.

This is a placeholder; for the first time in recent memory, there weren't even any streams, just
radio commentary.
This is from Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse's informatively titled BBC sketch show Harry & Paul.
For my money the above sketch is further evidence that Whitehouse is the real comedy talent in that
pair, while Enfield is just a walking catchphrase generator. But that's a debate for another day.
"Former German international [Franz] Beckenbauer is not a Uefa executive committee member but
is a European Fifa executive member who sits in on the meetings as a non-voting observer."
With these words, BBC Sport said approximately everything there is to say about the UEFA executive
committee's decision, revealed today by football's favorite non-voting former German [.
With the very real danger of adding to the debate, I have to say that I'm sick and tired about
hearing about Rob Styles gifting United a penalty on Saturday against Bolton. Referees' make
mistakes, get over it.
I don't know if it's just me, but the BBC in particular seems to be snided out with ABUs these days
and there's definitely too many Liverpool fans in the Biased Broadcasting Corporation.
Good day folks. Thanks to my current unemployed status, I'll be following the match online (In
Spanish) and bringing a blow by blow account of the action. Not sure how this will go, but feel
free to leave thoughts in the comment section. Back soon with starting lineups.

After previously getting Tim Burgess of The Charlatans to give a few minutes to talk about United,
proper red Terry Christian has spoken to Republik of Mancunia about several United related topics.
Christian, Old Trafford born and bred, got his first gig at local BBC Radio stations, with his
'Barbed Wireless' programme winning Sony Awards in [.
"It's happened quite quickly today."
"We are going to try and bring good players to the club and it is a notice of our intent and
we'll try and get him.
"There is a real buzz and expectation and hopefully this time it won't be a false dawn and we
can establish ourselves as a top six club.
In an amazing chain of events all coming together during the closing hours of the European transfer
window, Real Madrid's Robinho has agreed to be transferred to Manchester City. According to the
folks over at the BBC a deal was struck between the two clubs for an amount over $50 million.
Everything in the last week is almost too much for this City supporter.

Marking one year since the takeover, QPR Chairman Flavio Briatore was the guest
last night on BBC Radio London. It was an interesting interview in which Briatore came across very
"grounded" and that QPR wouldn't be repeating some of the financial mistakes it made in
years past; but certainly not one in which QPR sounded like it was "The Richest Club in the
World" or would be spending big any time soon.
Literally in the last few minutes, the BBC are reporting that Keegan has resigned due to the
football structure of Newcastle United. He feels that his position has been completely undermined
by Dennis Wise and Tony Jiminez. A hastily released statement by Keegan pointedly clarifies that
his position has become untenable due to pressure put on [.

Dave McIntyre/BBC 606 - Humble Cerny out to change minds
Radek Cerny is well aware he isn't popular with a section of QPR supporters.
He couldn't fail to hear Lee Camp's name being chanted just minutes into the Czech keeper's Rangers
debut on the opening day of the season.
Gianfranco Zola has emerged as a hot favourite to become West Ham United's new manager. The former
Italy international forward impressed the Irons' board during an interview following the sudden
resignation of Alan Curbishley on Wednesday. Hammers director Mike Lee told BBC Radio 5Live's
Sportsweek on Sunday morning that Zola had "really shone" during talks with the [.

Dave McIntyre, BBC 606 - Exits likely as Tomassi arrives
It won't come as a surprise to anyone that QPR's signing of Damiano Tommasi – yet another
midfielder – is likely to be followed by an exit from Loftus Road, with Adam
Bolder expected to leave.
As far as I'm aware there aren't that many football podcasts, certainly not a lot of good ones. The
one that comes out of the BBC World Football Phone-In tends to be very good whilst the ones that
are done by the Times and the Guardian have their good moments but far too often try too hard to be
funny.
Moyes agrees £17m Everton deal
"Everton boss David Moyes has agreed a new five-year contract with the Merseyside club worth
over £17m, BBC Sport understands.
The 45-year-old Moyes, who joined Everton as manager in 2002, confirmed in July that he had opened
talks on a new deal with chairman Bill Kenwright"
17m.
Well it would seem that Moyes has not yet signed a new deal which is a bit silly of the BBC to
report that it was a done deal. I know he will sign and I can understand why he hasn't signed yet
but let's just get it done.
Anyway in 4 hours from now golf becomes interesting as The Ryder Cup gets underway!
It seems almost difficult to believe now, but there was a time when, if you saw the football on the
television, that was it. You'd see the goals once, maybe twice, and then they'd disappear into the
vaults of the BBC and ITV, only to resurface once or twice at random intervals on the likes [...]

Yesterday, as announced by Derby County, and reported in the Derby Press...Thus far, still no
official comment or announcement by Queens Park Rangers about the League ruling (and thus far not
even QPR comments in the media). No word yet what it means for QPR fans; and what it means for
future games - and how the club will make up for the possible absence of this additional
revenue.
