Former Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow says that the club was one day away from administration before being sold to current owners Fenway Sports Group.

Purslow said on Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek programme:

"People have short memories, it's only 15-16 months ago we were a day away from being in administration.

Chelsea have confirmed via their official website that they have submitted a bid to acquire the Battersea Power Station site in order to build a new 60,000-seater stadium on said land.

The club have announced they along with their 'property development partners' Almacantar are hoping to acquire the 39 acres of land, which they plan to redevelop if, as and when they should decide to up-sticks and leave Stamford Bridge.
