If you want a sneak peak of things to come in Major League Soccer then look no further to this
weekend's action in the College Cup. Of the four teams left in the field, all include several
MLS-ready players.
There really is no big separation between these four schools. One is unbeaten and the rest are
dominate ACC figures that we're use to seeing make it this far into the tournament.
This is not the sort of morning that I'd relish watching a soccer game ... but two of my
intrepid housemates (applesrisp in hand) will be heading to Lewiston momentarily to watch the
Bobcats tangle with the Panthers. Would be so nice if Bates could defeat Middlebury ... and while
it's probably in the unlikely category, what I love about sports is that "it could happen.
The youngster who has mesmerized the football world this autumn is still playing in the Third
league. Leeds United's midfielder is only 19 years old, but he still possesses such skills, speed
and shooting power that many of the Premier League players can be envious of. His name is Fabian
Delph and the goal this [.
Two teams moving in different directions. Gareth Southgate squeezed Aliadiere, Alves, Tuncay,
King and Downing into his side, but still couldn't find a way through the Fulham defence which, as
is often the way, stood firm and took the pressure and earned another clean sheet. Because of
this Middlesbrough are in deep trouble, and we have another point.
From leedsunited.com:
"We had accepted an offer from Manchester City on Saturday which they had to go back with to the
owner in the Gulf," Bates told Leeds' official website. "Then apparently they needed a week to
think about it which surprised us, considering the size of the deal.
Will Bates has lead Virginia in scoring this year.
Yes today has been a MLS SuperDraft kind of day around with news about the combine and players
potentially signing with the league to enter next month's draft. I figured I would continue the
trend with another look at things with another watch list.
To Anfield, where football was not the most important thing on the agenda for once. Paying
respect to those who sadly lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster, 20 years ago this
Wednesday, was at the forefront of everyone's mind. A minute‘s silence, impeccably observed. What
followed was fitting; a comprehensive feast of flowing football saw Liverpool
sweep Blackburn aside with ease.

All season long, the ACC has been the talk of men's college soccer -- seen by many as the best
conference in the nation. And while the nine schools spent the regular season beating up on each
other, the NCAA Tournament was the chance for the conference to prove how good it really is.

Whether you're a fan of dangerous attacking teams, or simply want to catch a glimpse of some
future MLS standouts, this weekend's NCAA College Cup in Cary, North Carolina has something for
you.
All four teams boast quality rosters so there isn't much talk about underdogs and Cinderella
stories.
No, there were no goals scored in regulation of Sunday's NCAA College Cup Final (won by Virginia
over Akron in penalty kicks), and yes, there were only a combined three goals scored in the three
College Cup games this past weekend, but this weekend's NCAA matches were still a success.
Yesterday I took a look at Liverpool. Now about Manchester City. They have joined Leeds United
and Chelsea in imposing tough restrictions on who can get near the club following the revelations
about how they sacked Mark Hughes. (Leeds ban papers who report on the legal battles of K Bates,
or report on the fact [.
