Fans of BATE Borisov are celebrating the club's seventh championship title
While many of Europe's top leagues are in the middle of an arduous campaign there are some
championships that have just been decided for the 2010 season. These summer leagues are highlighted
here in Stoppage Time International Football Blog's review of the season:
ARMENIA: Pyunik Yerevan finally secured their tenth successive championship on
the final day of the season as they were taken all the way by local rivals Banants with the
champions coming out on top by a single point.
For once, a post of pure, shameless comic relief.
I've always been a fan of the double-entendre headline, ever since reading Fritz Spiegl's hilarious
collection of misprints and unintentional gaffes from English papers, which included a report of an
Everton player being taken off the field with a pulled musicle.
Shane Duffy, the talented teenage Everton centre-half, has decided that his international
future lies with Giovanni Trapattoni's Ireland rather than the North.
The Derry born defender rose to prominence with the 'Toffees' this season when making two
appearances for Everton in the Europa League against BATE Borisov and AEK Athens.
Aleksejs Višņakovs was on the scoresheet for FK Ventspils in their 2-1 win at home to Skonto
Riga
Although the focus for the next four weeks will heavily be centred upon South Africa and the
FIFA World Cup, Stoppage Time International Football Blog will continue providing the
latest news in some of the European leagues which take place throughout the summer months.

Para quem esperava uma melhoria do lugar de Portugal no ranking da UEFA, partindo do princípio de
bons resultados dos nossos clubes nesta jornada europeia, deve ter ficado desiludido com os
resultados francamente negativos do Sporting e do Marítimo.

So the little brother of the Champions League announced its draw today. While you can see the
quality throughout the group drop off a little, there are still some fantastic teams. The group of
death is definitely Group J, we expect the latter rounds to be really competitive.
Group A Juventus, Manchester City, Red Bull Salzburg and Lech Posnan.
The UEFA Europa League group stage kicks off Thursday afternoon with all 48 teams across 12 groups
getting their campaigns underway, and a few Americans have a stake in the day's action.
Sacha Kljestan has reportedly been nursing an ankle knock, and it's unclear whether he'll be
included in the squad for RSC Anderlecht's Group G opener with Zenit St.

Many of the day's matches are already in the books, but plenty UEFA Europa League action still
remains to be played as the group stage continues in the European competition.
Jozy Altidore is once again getting the start for Villarreal in its home match against Club
Brugge. The late matches of the day, though, are likely the Manchester City-Juventus and Atletico
Madrid-Bayer Leverkusen clashes.
BORISOV, Belarus FC Dynamo Kiev confirmed their place in the UEFA Europa League knockout stage with
an impressive display against FC BATE Borisov which enabled them to leapfrog their opponents at the
top of Group E. Previously unbeaten in the section, already-qualified BATE had no answer to a
Dynamo team who looked like scoring [.

The good news for Liverpool's Europa League campaign is that the club is undefeated in group
play and has qualified for the knockout stage. The bad news for the Reds is that they've managed
only two wins to go with three draws against less-than-stellar competition in Group K.
Jozy Altidore and Villarreal will face Napoli while Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht will take on Ajax
in Europa League Round of 32 action.
The Round of 32 draw took place on Friday and American players drew some tough opponents.
Midfielder Maurice Edu and Rangers will meet Portuguese power Sporting FC.
