It's do-or-die for Chelsea and manager Andres Villas-Boas, as the Premier League giants need to
secure a result against Valencia in order to avoid an embarrassing early exit from the UEFA
Champions League.
Even with that, Frank Lampard and Fernando Torres are starting the game on the bench, and Juan
Mata gets the start against his former club, which played Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in their previous
meeting.

UEFA Champions League Recap: BATE Borisov 1-1 AC Milan On Tuesday night Milan secured qualification
to the next phase of the Champions League after their 1-1 away draw against BATE Borisov. Despite
seeing his team qualify with two games remaining, Max Allegri was clearly not content with how
things unfolded in Minsk.
(Summary is not available.)
The Rossoneri were held tonight against BATE Borisov away from home in Minsk but despite the
disappointment still managed to secure qualification to the next phase. During the first half
which the Italians dominated Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened the scoring with a nicely taken goal for the
red and blacks in the 22nd minute.
Belarussian minnows BATE Borisov grabbed their second Champions League point with a deserved 1-1
draw with Italian giants AC Milan with both keepers at their best, BATE keeper Alyaksandr Gutor was
the hero in the first half, while his opposite number in the Milan goal Christian Abbiati was
equally heroic in the second period in this highly entertaining Champions League tie.
Saturday's win over Roma on the weekend made it five wins from five in all competitions. On Tuesday
night Milan travel to Minsk for the return tie with BATE Borisov and I fully expect the team to
make it six from six. The Belarussian side may have just claimed another domestic title built on a

A memorable round for the Italian clubs who took seven points from a possible nine to place
themselves in good positions for progression into the knock-out stages. Inter Milan have had a
torrid start to their domestic season. Following a shock loss to Turkish minnows Trabzonspor in
Champions League and the dismissal of Provincial manager Gian Piero Gasperini, the European
Champions of 2010 earned.

AC Milan 2-0 BATE Borisov
For best results when using this product, we recommend avoiding anything north of the forehead.

You may be unsurprised to find out that at the moment that Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng
did this against BATE Borisov last night...
...Tiziano Crudeli immediately exploded into a fully-fledged delirious sobbing/yelling fit, did
a little wee on his chair and then almost burst into fleshy tatters at the beauty of it all.

Arsene Wenger knows Olympique Marseille quite well from his years in French soccer, and the
Arsenal manager will hope to turn that knowledge into points for his side when it faces Marseille
in a key UEFA Champions League battle.
Marseille and Arsenal are in the top two positions, respectively, in Group F, and their meeting
is one of the more intriguing matchups on Wednesday's slate.
Champions League football resumes this week as Milan entertain Belarussian side BATE Borisov at the

predictable side we had seen in the [.

Juan Mata has made a nice impression since joining Chelsea this past summer, but if he is to
influence the Blues' next match, he'll do so at the expense of his former employer.
Mata and Chelsea take on his former club, Valencia, at Estadio Mestalla in one of Wednesday's
high-profile UEFA Champions League group matches.
Ah, would you just look at THAT! If it isn't Chelsea's resident Spaniards in
Valencia wearing Los Che's traditional colours,
Orange! You can't get any cheesier than that in a strangely endearing way, of
course. Anyway, Juan Mata is all set to face his former side tonight when Valencia
host Chelsea at the Mestalla.

Fox Soccer Plus has Arsenal - Olympiacos at 2:30pm. CONCACAF Champions League on Fox Soccer: Tauro

Chelsea followed up on Frank Lampard's urgency for Champions League glory by opening their
campaign with an impressive 2-0 win at home to Bayer Leverkusen.
Second half goals from David Luiz and summer signing Juan Manuel Mata sealed all three points
for Andre Villas-Boas' men at Stamford Bridge at the expense of their German visitors.
The UEFA Champions League group stage kicks off on Tuesday with a trio of high-profile matches,
and some favorites to get out of the group stage could find themselves in an early hole as a
result.
Barcelona-AC Milan headlines the day's schedule, as Lionel Messi & Co. take on the defending
Italian champions in a match that will not feature a link between the two clubs, as former
Barcelona and current Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out injured.

The Champions League this year has a very different feel to it. We have the omnipresent Barcelona
who look ready to conquer the trophy yet again, now faced with AC Milan in their group of the
Champions League group stages. While the past few seasons haven't been the best for AC Milan, the
rossoneri have strengthened and seem prepared to make a strong run in Europe this upcoming season.

The group stage draw for the 2011/12 edition of the UEFA Champions League took place in Monaco,
France on Thursday evening. The draw sees defending champions FC Barcelona being drawn against
seven time European champion AC Milan and Eastern European opponents FC BATE Borisov and FC
Viktoria Plzeň in Group H.
The UEFA Champions League Group Stage draw took place on Thursday and while we didn't quite get
the ultimate Group of Death, we did see some juicy match-ups and one VERY tough group.
Manchester City's first foray into the Champions League will see the boys in Blue compete in the
clear choice for Group of Death as City takes on Bayern Munich, Villarreal and Napoli in Group
A.
FC Barcelona has been drawn into Group H of 2011-12 UEFA Champions League Goup stage. AC Milan
from Italy, Bate Borisov from Belarus and FC Viktoria Plzeň from Czech republic joined Barca in
Group H to make for an interesting group. AC Milan is seven times Champions whereas Borisov is
playing in Champions League for the second time and FC Viktoria Plzeň will make their Champions
League debut this season.
