Hands up those of you who watch Serie A football and knew about this player? A report carried in
today's Daily Mail suggested that Arsene Wenger is about to bid for Felipe Melo, a wonderfully
gifted Brazilian who plays for Fiorentina. I have to confess that for once I had not even heard his
name mentioned on our site as a possible replacement.
Rarer than that species: a winning English coach, is a sighting of Freddy Adu.
Fear not, Freddy is still in AS Monaco. Alive, just on the bench a lot.
He is most likely return to Benfica because it appears Monaco is not interested in buying him
out. So far he has logged 169 minutes of playing time in 11 appearances.
Olympique Lyonnais have made no qualms about beginning their 'new era'. With Benzema, Juninho
and Keita three big names to leave the club this summer so far, the French side have wasted no time
in splashing out on some big-money transfers and it doesn't look like the deals are done yet!
With Benzema leaving, a huge gap was created in the striking position.
Brazil and England was going to be a reserve festival, as injuries took away many players from
the match. So if in theory this is a match with no favorites, in reality, Brazil got that title as
it had less players in the ER. Brazil had the responsibility to play better and add another match
to the unbeaten streak against England that is 19 years-old.
Yoann Gourcuff, who is on loan at Bordeaux from Milan, has been voted the Player of the
Year in Ligue 1 by his fellow professionals and the outstanding playmaker has expressed
his desire to remain at Bordeaux when his loan deal ends. The young midfielder has
really blossomed under Laurent Blanc after struggling on the fringes at Milan and
he is definitely the player who has to take most of the credit for the club's uptrend in fortunes
this season.
Here is this week's round up of transfer rumors.
- Schalke
Keving Kuranyi is being heavily linked to Blackburn Rovers in England.
- Werder Bremen
Martin Harnik will be available this summer for cheap as he hasn't made the grade for Thomas
Schaaf's side. Arsenal and Tottenham are now casually linked with Diego.

Benfica finished off the 2008-09 season with a victory over Belenenses. Benfica fell behind 1-0
early on a goal by Silas before Cardozo, Felipe Bastos and Mantorras replied to give Benfica a 3-1
victory. Benfica finish the season in third place and miss out on a Champions League spot. Benfica
did win this seasons Carlsberg Cup, their only trophy of the campaign.
Newly-promoted Serie A club Livorno have completed the homecoming addition of former Amaranto
favourite Cristiano Lucarelli from Parma on-loan for the entire season. The 33-year-old veteran
striker returns to the Tuscan vicinity where he netted an impressive 92 goals between 2003 and
2007. Read On -- Lucarelli Leaves Parma To Rejoin Liverno via Goal.
The 4-4-2 Diamond Midfield has started to become more en vogue all over the world, with both
Chelsea and Inter establishing the strengths of this alignment in the early stages of the 2009-10
season.
Jonathan Wilson of the Guardian has an outstanding article where he outlines the strengths and
weaknesses of that alignment.
This is being billed as the fastest goal in history, and it's pretty hard to argue with that even
without the statistics right in front of you. Unless the likes of John Arne Riise or Michel Bastos
have unleashed one directly off the kickoff, chances are this is it. The fastest goal ever, via
Al-Hilal's [.
Many clubs wouldn't mind sitting 5th in the ISL with five games in hand on leaders Persipura. But
Persib aren't like many clubs. They are the Newcastle United of Indonesian football and their fans
see them as gods. They see titles and trophies as their divine right.
But this season has been another poor one.
It was bound to happy eventually. I don't know about you guys, but after the embarrassment of
last season's finish, I was dreading the oncoming ~dramah~, :tearz:, and angsty soap operas from
the players and the staff. I was expecting a meltdown of epic proportions. I thought that the sky
would fall.
Benfica have loaned Brazilian midfielder Felipe Bastos to Belenenses for a season. Bastos became
expandable once Benfica signed Javi Garcia from Real Madrid over the weekend. Benfica are also said
to be in talks for Belenenses' keeper Julio Cesar
With Lyon finally knocked off their lofty perch by Laurent Blanc's fantastically well drilled
Bordeaux side last season, there is a feeling that this season's Ligue Un title race might just be
the most open in years.
With Claude Puel's side looking to regain the crown they had held in a vice-like grip for seven
seasons in a row, Blanc's men will have their work cut out to retain their title, and with
traditional powerhouses Marseille & Paris Saint-Germain looking to continue the excellent progress
made last season under new coaches Didier Deschamps & Antoine Kombouaré respectively, not to
mention the impressive underdogs of Lille & Toulouse lurking, French football has lot going for it
at the moment.

Group E awaits. Not the easiest group (Groups G or H), but it's not Groups A, C, or F either.
Neither Lyon nor Fiorentina will be easy matches, but they'll be interesting pairings against
prestigious teams, while Debrecen's a completely unknown quantity.
Abou Diaby: Serbia attack's most dangerous weapon?
This upcoming weekend will be filled with World Qualifiers up until Tuesday so I will not
comment much on Le Championnat from last weekend that saw a very disappointing 0 – 0 between
Marseille and Bordeaux, a very convincing 3 - 0 win by PSG against Lille, St Etienne's first 3
points versus a sad Grenoble and more Lyon magic thanks to Lisandro Lopez (ARG), Gomis (FRA)
and Bastos (BRA).
ALLEZ LYONNAIS!!! We can do this!

Well, after the short but much needed international break, Lyon head back to office. The break
gave us some much needed time for the laundry list of players out due to injury, to continue their
convalescences.
Reds undone by last gasp equalizer.

Now its not all doom and gloom and many will have you believe that we are sinking further into
the abyss but that would be a harsh assessment of the tough 90 minute assignment that so nearly
bore fruit.
Lyon 5 Marseille 5 at the Stade De Gerland. November 9, 2009. A nail biting epic with end to end
action. This match will be talked about for years to come.
With L'OM cruising 4-2 it appeared as if the match was done but Lisandro Lopez who surely must
be on Maradona's radar for his late goal scoring exploits brought them back on par in the 81st and
84th minute.
Arithmetic took center stage with number "7″ as second place PSG travelled away to ninth
place Lorient this past weekend. Living up to his number jersey number, 32-year-old Ludovic Guily
scored his 7th league goal as he volleyed in Guillaume Hoarau's carefully headed pass. The 1-0
result see PSG close the gap on Lyon as [.

Lisandro Lopez: Lyon finally got their man. JMA's first signing of the summer
cost OL 24 mill plus performance bonuses. Lisandro is supposed to be in Lyon
Friday for his physical.
Lyon fans were disappointed with the departures of team's key players, Juninho
and Benzema after the end of last season but it seems that Jean-Michel Aulas will manage to create
a team capable of challenging for honours. After the capture of Argentinean striker Lisandro Lopez,
Les Gones are set to snatch the hottest prospect in French football, Lille's Michel
Bastos.

Today, OL are in Rhône-Alpes to take on RC Lens. Lens is gearing-up for a return to
first division football after last year's soujourn in L2 purgatory. It will be the first meeting
between the two teams since .
Bordeaux took advantage of Lyon's problems last season and they managed to pip
Marseille to the Ligue 1 title. That was a big success for Les Girondins led by
Laurent Blanc from the bench and Yoann Gourcuff from the pitch. These two were the
reasons behind team's success, although they had big help from Gourcuff's teammates.
Sometimes getting rid of your best player makes you better and other times it does not. But for
Lyon getting rid of striker Karim Benzema might have been the best thing that they could have done.
During the summer the super talented striker traded Lyon for Real Mardrid. The transfer fee was
priced at €35 million with the fee rising to as much as €41 million based on incentives.
France's Ligue 1 is in full effect and its hottest team is Olympique Lyonnais. Brazilian playmaker
Michel Bastos scored the game winner in Lyon's 1-0 home win against Lorient. Claude Puel's team
have won 4 straight matches to move into 2nd place behind Bordeaux on goal differential. Lyon have
been doing it with defense allowing only 1 goal during their winning streak.

Cada clube tem um sÃmbolo pelo qual é conhecido, s vezes é um bicho, s vezes é um dÃstico.
Todos têm um dÃstico, todos têm um sÃmbolo. Há clubes que se destacam tanto pelo sÃmbolo

Brazil coach Dunga has named his squad for the November's friendlies against England and Oman. Of
note is that FC Porto striker Hulk , fellow striker Carlos Eduardo of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and
Michel Bastos of Olympique Lyon are included in the squad and could possibly make their
international debuts.
Dunga announced today the players who will play the last 2 matches of the year (against England
and Oman). And he had a few surprises. Given that he decided not to call players from Brazilian
clubs (and therefore was unable to call Adriano and Diego Tardelli), he called forward Hulk. But he
wasn't the only surprise.
So Dopey officially called up 24 homensfor the
selecao's upcoming friendly matches next month. Ooooh yes, we mean that exciting one
against England in Qatar on the 14th and the other one against
Oman in Muscat.
Kaká battles it out
A second-half goal by Nilmar was the difference in a forgettable match between Brazil and
England in Qatar on Saturday.
The Villarreal man struck in the first minute of the second period after heading in a lovely
floated ball from ex Manchester City player, Elano.

For their final fixture of the year, Brazil take on Oman in Muscat this Tuesday.
Coached by French man Claude Le Roy, Oman are ranked 79th in the world. Brazil are expected to
win comfortably but Dunga added a note of caution: "They're a strong team and have experienced
athletes who play abroad.
It has developed into some kind of a tradition that every year, when the African Cup of Nations
takes place in January, Chelsea come out moaning about the effect it will have on their team with a
number of players leaving their club duty to represent their countries in it's continent's most
important competition.
Lyon's Juninho has been synonymous with powerful shot and his trademark free-kicks, but his
compatriot Michel Bastos is threatening to steal the spotlight from him, at least in France. Bastos
needed some time to make his quality known to broader public but his impressive performances for
Lille this season have attracted a lot of attention [.
It's pissing down in Soreang, the pitch is like a swimming pool. Persib go into this game minus
strikers Cristian Gonzales, Hilton Moreia and Lorenzo Cabanas who probably aren't too disappointed.
Their team mates need golashes, not football boots.
By rights the game shouldn't be going ahead.
