You could be looking at the Annual Congregation of Munich's Santa Clauses,
except this photo would've been only complete if Mario Gomez joined the bench
instead of looking down at them! During Bayern's 1-1 draw against Hamburg over the weekend, there
was a lot of frustration and anger from all corners of the club.
Pep Guardiola took a leaf out of Bastian Schweinsteiger's
Basketball Book over the week and watched a game with his children Marius and Maria (above). Of
course, the only game on his mind tonight is Barcelona's Copa del Rey semi-final against
Valencia when his newly crowned "Laureus World Team of the Year" take
them on in the Nou Camp.
Existing in the shadow of Bayern Munich's much more popular football team, the club's
title-winning basketball team wanted to draw some attention their way at the end of last season.
So, head coach Dirk Bauermann came up with an idea.
From the AFP:
"With five games remaining, we won the championship (in 2011) and Bastian Schweinsteiger could
have actually played for us at the time," Bauermann wrote in his new book, which has been
serialised in German daily Bild.
So we've gathered that Bastian Schweinsteiger's basketball fanaticism has
scaled to extraordinary heights during his injury recuperation time at Bayern Munich. During this
time of sadness (he nearly switched to professional basketball last year!), Bastian discovered that
hoop shooting can be rather therapeutic, especially with Euro being less than four months away.
