The German captaincy saga, threatening to derail a nation if simply through the wrath of Michael
Ballack, will not be allowed its due end, though Jogi may be trying.
Jogi has declared that Michael Ballack is very much Germany's captain, which would normally put
the kibosh on matters. However, he hasn't been called up and has declared that if he is called up
in the future, his place on the pitch will be occupied by someone else.
Tottenham pulled off arguably the best transfer deadline deal on Tuesday, landing Dutch
midfielder Rafael van der Vaart in a $12 million move from Real Madrid. The club announced the
completion of the move on Wednesday.

Ballack Is Captain Once Again But Must Fight For His Place In The Side.
Joachim Loew announced that veteran midfielder Michael Ballack will remain the captain of the
German national team and has thus ended all debate surrounding the issue. Despite this, Loew has
not chosen Ballack for Germany's two upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Belgium and
Azerbaijan, and has not promised him a place in the squad for Germany's next round of
qualifiers.

Germany coach Joachim Low has given the subtlest of hints that he has no
intention of calling-up Michael Ballack as-and-when the former Mannschaft
captain returns to action following yet another injury setback.
A star-studded squad and young talents that lit up the World Cup, Bayern are still the team to
beat in Germany, and it's unlikely that anyone can stop them.

Die Spieler des FC Bayern München waren schon besser in Form – beispielsweise am Ende der
vergangenen Spielzeit, als man die Deutsche Meisterschaft und den DFB-Pokal gewann und zudem noch
im Finale der Champions League (0:2 gegen Inter Mailand) stand. In die neue Spielzeit sind die
Münchner allerdings etwas verhalten gestartet; und das, obwohl im Wesentlichen – mit Ausnahme
der Rückkehr einiger ausgeliehenen Spieler – der Kader unverändert blieb.
