Fulham v Bookmakers, 2009/10

Craven Cottage Newsround 27 October @ 03:04 PM EST

A few numbers to have a peer at.

First thing that jumps out: when the bookies have not got our games quite right (4/9), all four results have been in our favour.

That's interesting isn't it? I appreciate that bookmakers' odds are not the be all and end all, but they are a good neutral barometer of what we might generally expect to happen in a game.

FIFA v UEFA: The Rankings Of Doom Are Doomed.

WorldCupBlog 19 October @ 02:30 PM EST

While everyone was busy anxiously awaiting FIFA's latest release and the seeding for the playoff spots, UEFA was busy concocting a ranking of their own and releasing it under unsuspecting eyes. At this point it means little and will only serve to put Euro 2012 qualifying seeding into perspective, still some way off yet, but it's always interesting to see how others differ from the entirely rubbish FIFA ranking system.

Video Response: Was it worth a Red?

Euro 2008 on World Cup Blog 08 September @ 09:41 PM EST

I am deeply saddened to return to the Greece Blog on the heels of a bitter (to say the least) 2-0 loss to Switzerland on Saturday night in Basel. My big return was supposed to be capped with a huge celebration of a big win in Basel, but somebody (I'll deal with him in a sec) really ruined...everything (this is not a conspiracy theory, or me saying England is going to win the World Cup again, ever).

Europe’s top national teams set for final showdown

Soccer Pie 27 August @ 07:33 AM EST

World Cup in South Africa is less than a year away and decisive qualifying battles are in front of us. As usually, the European qualifying zone is probably the most interesting one, partly as the teams fight for no less than 13 places at the big tournament. Netherlands is the first national team from Europe to have booked their ticket to South Africa, while England and Spain are likely to do the same, but there are still 10 places up for grabs.

Dortmund Considers Liverpool's Voronin To Replace Frei

Anfield Talk 18 July @ 02:04 PM EST
Following the departure of Alexander Frei to Basel, Dortmund are preparing to swoop for his replacement.
Names on the list include Nantes' Ivan Klasnic, Robert Lewandoski of Lech Poznan, and interestingly Andriy Voronin of Liverpool.
While Klasnic is reported by Bild to be their number one target, the Croatian only moved to France last season, signing a four-year deal, thus that idea could prove to be too expensive for Dortmund to implement. Click to continue reading...

In quiet and tranquil Switzerland, where everyone gets along and there is never any trouble, the fans are misbehaving, which is something you don't hear often and they definately won't stand for at the Swiss Football Federation.

5 Things We Learned From Matchday 5: Wednesday Edition.

The Offside 27 November @ 09:30 AM EST
The Cinderellas are in group B, not A. Cluj was the underdog-come-good story to start out the campaign, and deservedly so. They beat Roma - though who didn't earlier in the season - and nil-niled (yes, that's a verb) with a then high-flying Chelsea team. Now, however, they've come back down to earth, and will be [. Can Liverpool Turn Luck Into Fortune?

Anfield Talk 28 August @ 03:12 AM EST
In one sense, Liverpool have had a perfect start to their season. Six points from two Premier League games and successful passage into the next stage of the Champions League is the best they could have accomplished to date. They've been almost-perfect at the back, conceding just one goal in 390 minutes of football. Click to continue reading...
