The Football League season's eight-day head start on the Premier League provides a rare chance
for clubs in the second tier and below to bask in the limelight.

winning tonight. The three points sees Chelsea move into second in the Premier League on goal
difference from Arsenal, both of us six points behind the leaders. I called for a good performance
and to make the game in hand count and Chelsea did exactly that.
Birmingham City are heading to their first Wembley Final for 55 years after beating West Ham 4-3
on aggregate in their Carling Cup semi-final. Birmingham will play Arsenal in the final on the 27

Leading 2-1 from the first leg, West Ham seemed to have a place at Wembley all locked up when
