As you are probably already aware, the weather took an axe to this weekend's non-league fixture
list and only a handful of matches took place anywhere. The FA Trophy Third Round matches were
completely called off and will be played at a later date, so the draw for the quarter-finals, which
is to be made tomorrow, will have a somewhat odd look about it.
There may only be a couple of days left to go. Darlington FC continue to stare into the abyss
and the comments of the club's joint administrator, Harvey Madden, in an interview with BBC Radio
Tees this evening will have offered no comfort to those of the opinion that it is now only a matter
of time before this football club folds after one hundred and twenty-nine years.
There has been, as has seemed perpetual over the last few months or so, a lot of bad news about
recently. Whether we are driving to distraction over racism, looking at football clubs that are
staring into the financial abyss or lamenting the death of anything approaching civility within our
national game, putting our heads above the parapets of modern football for longer than a fraction
of a second can be a thoroughly dispiriting experience, and it can become a thorough bind to even
seek to engage with the wider world of football at times.
Sorry.
Those are the toilets area in which one is supposed to dispose of bodily waste of Ebbsfleet
United, the club which became famous as part of that fan-ownership experiment some years back,
leading to the theory that the common man doesn't care much about the loo. They're taking part in
and currently leading a competition to find the worst restrooms in English football, the "winner"
of which will get £100k in order to spruce up the facilities with a nice TOTO setup, one would
imagine.
We have two sets of non-league videos of the week lined up for you this week. Earlier this
evening, we had a quick round-up of matches from the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Now, to
follow that up, we have a quick round-up of two matches from the Blue Square Premier, followed by
one match from the Blue Square South.

Again yours truly is down at Oadby for the second consecutive Saturday for this top of the table
clash against the free scoring league leaders from Derbyshire.
OADBY TOWN 5-0 GRAHAM STREET PRIMSSaturday 8th October 2011
East Midlands Counties League
Greene King Park
Following on from a disappointing 1-1 draw last Saturday against Ibstock United, Oadby are at home

as well in a rearranged game against high flying Heanor Town.
BARROW TOWN 1-2 (aet) OADBY TOWN Tuesday 27th September 2011 Leicestershire Senior Cup 1st
Round Riverside Park, Barrow-upon-Soar
A week off from work fortunately coincided with a midweek fixture for Oadby Town and pitted
probably the two best teams in the competition against each other in a 1st round tie.
David Bridges has returned to Kettering Town, 3 years after he made the move in the opposite
direction to sign for Graham Westley's revolution. A lot has changed in those 3 years. Boro have
gone from annual underachievers in the Conference to punching above their weight in League 1. That
is ultimately the reason why Bridges' time at Broadhall Way has been cut short.

It's starting to become known as The Vaughan Effect, and it's a very modern phenomenon. Whenever
any mention is made of the slightest possibility the involvement of either of the Stephen Vaughans
getting involved in a football club, there is a reflex reaction from the supporters of the club
concerned and from various social media outlets, and this time the club with which this most dread
of names has been associated with is Stockport County.
That it wasn't a great surprise doesn't mean that it wasn't a disappointment. Geoff Moss, the
owner of Wrexham FC, had the chance to do the right thing just the once before handing over
ownership of the club to someone else, and he couldn't even manage to do that in the form of
handing ownership of the club to the Wrexham Supporters Trust, preferring instead to hand it over
to a group of individuals with no prior interest in Wrexham FC, one of whom is also banned from
acting as a company director until 2018 and was as recently as the end of last year was struck off
the Solicitors Roll as well.
