He's baaack!
I like to think my post yesterday made the difference. That it was the final piece that brought
Buddle back. Okay, maybe not. But I can still think that.
I was excited when Buddle first joined the Galaxy. He was not so highly rated, but I had seen
him play and thought he had a lot of potential.
The past few days have altered the landscape of MLS, the Western Conference and, specifically,
Cascadia. While many of us have always believed that the West was much stronger than the East, the
amount of talent that has flooded in during the past week alone has only strengthened that
belief.
Let's review: The Portland Timbers have added Kris Boyd, the leading scorer in Scottish Premier
League history; the Vancouver Whitecaps traded for Sebastien Le Toux, who's contributed to 45 goals
over the past two seasons; and the LA Galaxy brought back Edson Buddle, who scored 19 goals during
the 2010 season.

Currently considering trading TFC Academy for magic beansFor a brief period a little
over a year ago, Earl Cochrane was in charge of Toronto FC lock, stock and Barrett. While Jurgen
Klinsmann was busy searching the planet for the management team that would eventually be headed by
Aron Winter, Cochrane had the keys to the player cabinet and even seemed to be in the running to
grab the permanent GM job.
Ok, I am in a strange place mentally today.
Imagine that Toronto FC had instantly become the Barcelona of MLS and everything they had ever done
had turned into football gold. Expansion draft day arrives for Montreal and their leadership says
we must pick up all the ex-TFC players that we can, since their castoffs might still have some of
the Toronto magic to them.
MLS Cup dream shattered: Chad Barrett will miss MLS Cup through injury (Getty

It's a sickening blow for the Galaxy and UCLA product Chad Barrett, the Galaxy's second leading
goalscorer.

CARSON, Calif. – A little more than a week until MLS Cup, the Los Angeles Galaxy's hopes of an
MLS Cup took a devastating blow.
Forward Chad Barrett will miss the MLS Cup Final after suffering a dislocated right ankle during
the club's training session on Thursday.
Qualification for the knock-out phases of the NextGen series will have to wait after Villa's
U19s failed to get a result in Norway, losing 3-2 to Rosenborg.
Derrick Williams cancelled out Ole Kristian Selnæs' 29th minute opener from a Samir Carruthers
corner in the 39th minute. Daniel Johnson sent the visitors into the break 2-1 ahead just minutes
later with a wicked shot from a tight angle.
I can't be the only one who still finds himself humming "This is LA...." every few minutes.
Sunday night was the most thrilling night I have ever spent at the HDC. I don't think I have
ever heard the crowd louder. My favorite fans, pictured above, cheered their brains out, as it
seems did 20,000 other fans.
At first if you don't succeed, try, and try again.
Los Angeles Galaxy forward Chad Barrett must have been uttering those words at halftime of LA's
Superclasico matchup against Chivas USA. The Galaxy forward had numerous chances in the first half,
but it wasn't until the 53rd minute when Barrett finally broke through, as his header off an Adam
Cristman cross finally found the back of the net, and that strike was all Los Angeles needed to
hold off Chivas USA on Sunday evening at the Home Depot Center.

CARSON, Calif. – After four long and often frustrating years, David Beckham has learned to bend
it once again. That famous right foot, so effective and prolific that it spawned the title of a
movie, has been quiet for much of his Los Angeles Galaxy career, but its effectiveness has returned
with a vengeance this [.

Landon Donovan sat out the Los Angeles Galaxy past few matches nursing a sore knee, but he
showed no signs of the knee being a problem last week, scoring two goals and adding an assist in
the Galaxy''s 3-0 win against the Portland Timbers. His performance was good enough to earn him
SBI's MLS Player of the Week honors.
Chad Barrett has always been an enigma. He has all the tools to be a productive forward, gets
himself in good spots during games but has been plagued with poor marksmanship.
He was able to set that aside for one match at least, as he scored his first LA Galaxy goal in
Sunday's 2-1 win over Chicago.

The story you are about to read is not one out of a story book; it was not plucked from a comic
or magazine nor is it a case of a wild imagination.
I know this was an away game, but I still feel like Galaxy fans should get a refund. I managed
to pull the game up on my iPad and watch it live. If you are waiting for the 10:30 tape delay,
don't bother.
By the time the game actually loaded on my iPad LA was down 1-0. Within a few minutes Saunders
had a clear foul in the box for a PK that made it 2.
Lord, what's a cubit? I ask because about half way through last night's game I was sure we were
going to need to build an ark right there in the middle of HDC. My hat goes off to those brave
souls who ventured into the elements for their free poncho. Discretion being the better part of
valor, I opted for Chinese delivered to my door and Galavision.
Like Angel, Gonzalez, and Ricketts, Nathan is suffering through an injury today, so post game
duties fall to me.
Somewhere in a penthouse in Vegas there is a guy snorting lines and rolling in hookers because
he put $100 down on Mike Magee starting for the Galaxy in their opening match. Don't know how far
down your probability depth chart that was, but I'm still diving to find it on mine.
A game, an actual game featuring Aston Villa! Okay, it's the reserves, but Bannan, Delfouneso,

In his second contribution to the two unfortunates in as many weeks, Ben Barrett profiles Stephen
Henderson, scourge of many a League One striker. The role of second choice goalkeeper must be one
of the most frustrating jobs in football, yet being a back-up and then seeing your club sign an
England stopper must make your heart sick.
