Between friendlies and the first few competitive games, we've gotten a vague idea about the kind of team Puel wants to form - tactically organized, defensively solid, players sticking to their roles (as opposed to last season, where players would be out of position all the time).

Defensive calamities for the Crew and a tepid offense combined to allow the Galaxy to take a one goal lead after the first 45 minutes.

A horrendous mistake by Crew goalkeeper Will Hesmer in just the fourth minute gifted the Galaxy their goal, the Columbus net minder failing to hold a David Beckham cross when challenged by Landon Donovan who then turned and fired the ball home.

This week, Lyon travel to Brittany to face FC Lorient at Le Stade Moustoir. Lorient is currently tied for 2nd place with seven other teams in L1, having defeated Le Mans 1-0 in the first week.

Yeah, it's nice to see England eke out a draw even though they didn't deserve it. It was an okay performance in the first half, less so in the second, but more than anything, it was a run-out against decent opposition.

Tonight sees the first dual clash with Czech Republic playing Turkey whilst Switzerland host Portugal. With Portugal through as Group Winners, all eyes will be on Geneva. We could potentially have a first in Group qualification with the fact that should tonight's game end in a draw, we will go straight into a penalty shoot out [.

First to the Euros. I can't stop watching. Who would have thought the Dutch would emerge as the team to beat? Wow! Beating, emphatically, both Italy and France, excellent. Spain also look tough, but I'm not convinced yet as they won big against a pretty weak Russian side. What can I say about Portugal either?
