I said Reading was the worst we played under Robins, but it is no longer. This was truly useless.
On Friday I said that nothing less than a win would acceptable, and I stand by that. Perhaps I
didn't even go far enough. As the 4-1 early this season and also Plymouths league record show,
[...]
Before the penalty decision today after 42 minutes of the Newcastle game against Barnsley, not one
of the almost 45,000 Newcastle fans present would have ever thought that Newcastle would hit six
goals before the game was over. Peter Lovenkrands scored two this afternoon Until then the game had
been evenly contested between the teams, but [.
There's been a lot to talk about over the last two weeks, so I haven't had time for a simple video
review of the year. Better late than never though... Following a hugely mixed first few months, the
2008-2009 season was past half way. January saw several players out on loan and a handful in, most

The table currently claims that we have played one game under half of our league fixtures. If the
people at Preston would just man up. we'd have played exactly half; most of the league has. So,
this seems like a good time to ask who has been the top performer for us so far this term. It's

Big Story
Sometimes Wikipedia, despite often lacking the neutral tone of your average encyclopedia, does
describe things best in fact, precisely because of that. Witness the entry on Peter
Ridsdale, former chairman of Leeds United.
Danny Guthrie has set his sights on becoming Newcastle's answer to Steven Gerrard.
The former Reds midfielder hit a double in the Magpies' 6-1 rout of Barnsley at the weekend and
admits he would love to go on and have the same sort of impact as the man he rates as Europe's
finest.
Guthrie said: "I've been at Liverpool with Gerrard, and, for me, he's the best central midfielder
in Europe.
3rd placed Nottingham Forest slipped up again tonight, when they lost 2-1 at Barnsley. But West
Brom had an excellent win at Swansea, winning 2-0, and it's very rarely the Swansea side concedes
two goals. The West Brom goals were scored by the impressive Graham Dorans on 79 minutes from a
penalty, and then after 89 minutes Ishmael [.
"The way they are, tomorrow we will probably read I am to blame for the volcano. Maybe I have a
friend in the volcano and I am responsible for that."
Jose Mourinho erupts after Barcelona express their disappointment at decisions in the first
leg of their Champions League semi-final.
"That is it for the German porn star look, I'm afraid.
Four 6-0 defeats in just 20 Premier League matches! So what's going on? Could there have been such
a yawning gap created between the top and bottom of the league? Manchester United could have
easily...

REPORT ON TWITTER____________________________________________________________________________________
- The reports first appeared over the weekend on the We Are The Rangers Boys Fan Site from several
QPR fans close to QPR FC Chairman Paladini.
We have touched on the subject of the serial football club chairman on this site before, and
there are none quite as prolific as Peter Ridsdale. Like the Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare On
Elm Street film series, every time we think that he has finally been slayed, he rises as if from
the dead, quite possibly bending his hand into a fist shape, and this time it is the supporters of
Plymouth Argyle that need to take note.
LONDON, England — Manchester United's bid to maintain their position on the top of the Premier
League with victory at Blackpool on Saturday has been scuppered by the freezing temperatures in
England. United are two points clear of second placed Chelsea but they may lose first place after
their game was postponed as a result [.
I'm going to assume that you partied like it was 2010 last night, safe in the knowledge that this
means the transfer window is swinging wide open once again. But, who should we be bringing in. The
most important business is already done, with Ryan Shotton and Carl Dickinson safely signing loan
extensions.
Steven Gerrard rescued Liverpool again with an equaliser at the Madejski Stadium to earn an FA Cup
third-round replay against Reading and avoid an embarrassing defeat.
It was hardly the most influential performance from Gerrard but the Liverpool skipper produced a
goal when his side needed it most, as he does so often, meaning the two clubs will meet again at
Anfield.
In a season that has already delivered so many lows, Liverpool contrived to dip even further.
Having made public the importance of the FA Cup given current form, the players put on a pathetic
performance, one for which they should appologise to the fans who made the trip to Reading to watch
them play.
I blame the ground staff; they shouldn't have done such a good job to keep the game on. It really
was that bad. We didn't play so, so poorly, having a lot of possession. The problem came in the
last 30 yards. Scunthorpe did a wonderful job of pressing and marking to keep us holding [...]
Here is an awesome picture of the UK taken from space by those NASA chaps, but its also
the reason why on a Saturday afternoon only two Premier League matches are being played,
Championship matches and just two League One matches, with all others being called
off...
So from the 46 schedules matches we are only treated to these 9 this weekend.
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there was a place called Ricoh. Many people would come
to the Ricoh to freely divulge of its riches with little resistance from the few natives. In the
frozen northward lands there inhabited a man called Robins, and with him an endless hoard. They
conquer [.
The irony of that headline is obvious. Sales reduce prices, and that isn't something I expect much
of this month. But first, some other things; That being Red Tyke's Goal of the Year, I can
announce that after a tightly contested vote here, the result is, The goal of 2009; Jamal
Campell-Ryce against Sheffield Wednesday (1) with 49% [.
Soccerpro.com is a website selling excellent football gear, ranging from cheap to highest quality,
from professional gear to casual wear, from boots to T-Shirts. Whatever you want they've got it,
it's well worth a look here. With the World Cup dominating my life this summer, I'm gunna assume
it's kind of important to you as well.
For obvious reasons, the match of the weekend is probably West Brom's trip to Newcastle, or at
least that's what the media will tell us. Rather than toeing the line, I think I'll leave that to
others and focus instead on a game of true Championship grit which will almost certainly be every
bit as entertaining: Mark Robin's up-and-at-'em Barnsley at home to Sheffield Wednesday, led for
the first
And here we go again. Wednesday with their annual visit to Oakwell, to do battle. The Football
League show will run an extended feature of this game, and other networks are also sending camera
crews. This game is always big, always electric, always sold out. In fairness, this would be huge
even without the local [.
Losing to Wednesday is never nice, but this felt particularly hard. Why is easy to say. We played
so, so very badly. The worst we've played under Robins, probably worse than we played first game of
the season. The midfield went forwards disastrously badly, and the forwards changed our dimensions
of play almost not at [.
Barnsley have a more than decent photographer. The anger over the most prominent of our plethora
of penalty appeals on Saturday is justified; Mark Robins didn't want O'Neil Thompson at the
club. He played twice for us. I remember a good start for him in Robins first game in charge,
before he was inexplicably taken off on 20 minutes.
If you haven't heard about JCR's recent transfer, where have you been? In the words of the
club: Barnsley winger Jamal Cambpell-Ryce is set to complete a a permanent move to Bristol City
after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee And he can go with, I'm sure, the best wishes
of every Barnsley fan around.
Plymouth claim to have had the winter from hell. It seems to have started with the infamous 4-1
draw, and has only got much worse. The reason for the pitch, looking like the one below
post-global warming, is after the image. The heavy rain which called the first game off meant
that for the whole of November they were pulling [.
Yesterday nothing happened, which was news in itself. The game was off, and I mentioned that
no-one was more disappointed than young Reuben Noble-Lazarus. In the past people would actually
talk to each other, but today everyone gets Facebook. It's the easiest way to communicate. By
common law, all 16 year olds must have it, as [.
It was no secret that Stoke would seek to rough up Arsenal when they clashed in the FA Cup fourth
round on Sunday.
So for Arsene Wenger to play the extremely talented, but physically brittle kids against the likes
of Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth, was asking for trouble.
And they got it.
We go into this game having lost the last three. Off form would be one way of putting it. We have
shown in the past that this squad is good enough to beat any team, but we have no consistency. The
defence may be fairly reliable, albeit not perfect, but the same can't be said for the [...]
I believe the phrase is 'just what the doctor ordered'. 3 losses on the bounce had to be broken,
and in this particular case the points are what really matters. Not that we played so, so badly. We
didn't. It wasn't perfect, and there was certainly some players looking a bit slow, some parts of
the [.
Whenever I'm short of time, you get to watch one of Redtyke's excellent videos. This time round
it's the Top 20 Barnsley Goals. You can't deny that these are some amazing strikes, all from the
last 15 years (the 'youtube' generation). I don't really think it's meant to be a definitive list,
especially with the limit [.
Cardiff City are due in court in a couple of weeks fighting off a winding up order, and the
man in charge is a rather familiar one to supporters of Leeds United and Barnsley. Mark Murphy
reports on Peter Ridsdale's repeated misdemenaours and finds a predictable and depressing set of
themes.
Of all of football's recent winding-up petition sagas, Cardiff City's has had the most
soap-operatic plot twists.
And so, we come to the final game of January, the reverse of the fixture which saw Simon Davey
shown the door. Reading have done us one favour already this season (two; the league cup second
round), perhaps they can do us a third. Even better would be if we didn't need it. Leicester was a
[...]
Mark Robins would have more than a case for being the best manager of this Championship season but
his players let him down today. The former C. D. Ourense and Panionios man has been scathing of his
players in his post match comments and little wonder: they didn't muster a shot on goal in the 1-0
reverse at the Madejski Stadium and such meek capitulation to a team occupying the penultimate slot
It's kind of hard to express quite how disappointing this was after the improvements against
Leicester. It was back to how we were against Wednesday, just this time the defence couldn't play
either. We never put two passes together, and we didn't even try many long balls, we just lost it
again and again.
This week from the tipster I'm looking at the weekday fixtures and finding some
value.
Tonight's game, Hull vs Chelsea looks very one-sided.
Chelsea face cash strapped Hull at the KC Stadium. Chelsea are favourites for this game and
justifiably so.
How the hell we can lose 4 out of 5, and then produce the best performance of the season I'll never
know for sure, but hell, do we care? It was electrifying from the Reds last night, and we deserved
every goal we got, and more. Later I will say differently, but the real Man of [...]
It's definitely a welcome distraction, however. Normally we are as active as Dimitar Berbatov,
but not today. Following rumour, report and now confirmation by Burnley, we have signed 20 Year
old Striker Jay Rodriguez on a 1 month loan. He is known as a great prospect, and would be in and
around the first team at Turfmoor, however he [.
So, following on from the performance of the season on Tuesday, we have the hugely important
mission of carrying that forwards and to try and build up some good form. We did so much right
against Preston, the main thing of which was the attack. Robins said "It was not about a
formation. It was all about the [.
We went into this game sporting, predictably, the same set up and personnel who thrashed Preston's
hide. It didn't work out that way again because Watford came to try and end a losing run, and
they closed us down quickly in their half, something Preston didn't do. But, we did all we needed
to do [.
