So, here we are with my next instalment of Newcastle United away fan's guides. This features our
game at Oakwell, Barnsley on Saturday 12th December and is scheduled for a 3pm kick off, which has
been unusual for us away from home! At around 115 miles from Newcastle, Barnsley is not a bad jolly
away for [.
Err...'The Oscar for Football' If they gave out Oscars or Nobles for football management, Mark
Robins would be staring an academy award down the throat. Although Holloway's offensive 4-3-3 wiped
out our standard 4-4-2 from the start, Robin's thought about it, and made a series of tactical
changes to which the Blackpool manager had no answers.
This week from the tipster I'm looking at
the weekends fixtures and finding some value.
This weeks accumulator is:...
Man City to beat Sunderland
Notts Forest to beat Preston
Plymouth to beat Coventry
Charlton to beat Millwall
Rochdale to beat Shrewsbury
Available at 20/1
As our bonus this week.
Liverpool have joined the race for Crystal Palace ace Victor Moses.
The 19-year-old midfielder is in blistering form and scored against Barnsley on Saturday with a
wonderful overhead kick.
Spurs, Hoffenheim and Barcelona are keen on Moses but the Reds reckon they can land him for
£5million.
Having not been in attendance myself, I've waited until now to let the dust settle and to attempt
to unshackle myself from the blind partiality that saw me almost keel over with joy after hearing
that Plymouth had been granted a reprieve from a definite home thrashing on Saturday afternoon.Yet,
as hard as I try to see it from both sides, I cannot help but think that the referee was correct to
At time of writing, we stand an untrue fifteenth in the table. You know, I know, the BBC's Steve
Claridge knows, and most of the world knows, that we're a lot better than that. Top of the away
form table, eighth in the overall, add in Plymouth, we'd be much higher. Yet, we're a
disappointing 11th in the [.
How can any game with two goals be that boring? I mean really? How many clear chances were there?
Two, in my memory, they both went in. The reason for this awful spectacle is simple, we played
badly. An off-game. It happens. It doesn't mean that we're any worse suddenly, it doesn't mean

Due to the unerring tides of time, I have to write this on Thursday night; just after a match
report. It seems strange to me too. But, this is a game worth writing about. It's not all that big
to us. It's big in the sense of big team coming to Oakwell; the biggest game of [...]
5pm tomorrow could see Newcastle United 10 points clear at the top of the championship if they
manage a win against an in form Barnsley at Oakwell. The Newcastle players will be looking to give
boss Chris Hughton an extra special birthday present if they can notch up an eighth straight win to
boot. However [.
Following on from the Coventry game thread, I thought it would be a good idea to put up another
article for the Barnsley game, that you can just use for the match banter. This time yours truly
will be in attendance but not all Toon fans are lucky enough to be there, even if there [...]

How very dare they! With their short arms and deep pockets, those tight Yorkshire gets refused to
give us three points and Barnsley 2 Newcastle United 2, was probably as fair a result as we
deserved in the end. Backed by a minibus short of 7,000 fans, it was set up for and Newcastle were
[...]
Wednesday looks even worse after this pulsating clash between two teams rippling in ability and
passion, the atmosphere matched the quality of the game and of the football, and ultimately we
easily deserved the point against the best side in the Championship. The start may have been Black
and White, but the end was Red [.
In contrast to recent speculation that he might be shipped out in January, Chris Hughton expects
Andy Carroll to play a big part in Newcastle's drive for promotion. This comes after a bustling
performance on Saturday against Barnsley, which saw him have a hand in both our goals. However, he
also inadvertently had a hand in [.
I feel strangely depressed about all games at Selhurst Park. It just feels hopeless. Why? Well,
we've lost all of the last five games there. That makes me feel bad. But, is it a real problem. In
fact, out of every ground in the division, out best record is at Palace (1.38 ppg). So,
historically, [...
Yeah, so it's three draws in a row. So what? We can all be happy with this point. We showed a lot
of promise in the first half, but needed to score at least 2. Warnock strangled the life out of the
second half, making for 45 minutes with one of the chief entertainments being [...]
According to Sky Sports News, Barnsley boss Mark Robins
admitted that he is unsure whether the club will be able to sign Hull City
midfielder Nathan Doyle permanently. Doyle returned to Hull City last week after
his loan at the club ended.
Hell yes. Hell yes. Mark Robins, you've delivered us not one, not two, but three early gifts,
and, wow, are they good. Ryan Shotton and Carl Dickinson return on loan until the end of the
season. That, right there, is our season getting a rocket up the ass, anything could take off now.
Just goes to [.
(1) Preston North End is a badly run club with good ground staff. The Groundstaff did a fine job
of clearing the pitch of snow, which had been the early concern. Referee Nigel Miller does an 11:00
pitch inspection and passes it clear to play. PNE release a statement saying the game is
definitely on.
2009 is nearly done, so we're looking back over our shoulders to bid the year a fond farewell
before we say hallo to 2010. Recently I asked the many and talented bloggers of The Offside and
World Cup Blog to share their favourite footballing moment from the last twelve months, and we're
sharing those memories [.
It's always interesting to see how we can now fare against the best teams. Borough have just come
down from the Premiership, and the echoes of the top league squad are still strong. That showed for
the first half, but we did just as well. Sure, we were the worst team, and struggled to attack,
[...]
