The Stones...still gettin' it done after all these years. Fred and Barney. Good times. That's
the National Anthem singer before tonight's USSF D2 game between the Carolina Railhawks and FC
Tampa Bay Rowdies. I'm trying to watch the video feed here, but the goddamn constant buffering is
making it really hard.
The trailer for the upcoming relaunch of Special 1 TV, this time on BBC 3, has been launched
(see above video).
While I'm excited about the show coming back on the airwaves, I must say that I am very
underwhelmed by the trailer. They could have put some effort into it rather than this weak
attempt.
EPL Talk's Laurence McKenna had an opportunity recently to sit down with Henry Winter, one of
the most accomplished English football authors and writers in the United Kingdom.
Just minutes before the England versus Mexico friendly at Wembley, McKenna had a chat with Henry
Winter, outside the hallowed Wembley Stadium, about several fascinating topics revolving around the
World Cup, England national team and the Premier League including:
- Which world famous manager has a weakness for custard cream biscuits,
- His impressions of the 2009-2010 Premier League season,
- His favorite memories of previous World Cup tournaments,
- What makes the World Cup so different,
- What he would have given Fabio Capello to bring with him to the World Cup,
- What is his approach to writing,
- And much more.
I recently had the chance to watch Pelada, a remarkable soccer documentary that follows two
Americans on a journey around the world in pursuit of pick-up games. It's a simple premise, but the
experiences and people they encounter around the globe are wonderful to watch. If you consider
yourself a soccer fan, this is one documentary that you must seek out.
Barney Ronay is a senior sports writer for the Guardian and a regular
contributor to When Saturday Comes. In this edition of the EPL Talk podcast, I pick up when we left
off the last time Barney was on the program, talking about the state of the manager in the English
game.
The Manager by Barney RonayBarney Ronay is a difficult one to pin down. A senior sports writer for the Guardian, he is often
the one to pick up ackward stories - a recent piece went by the title 'Should Sepp Blatter Lock
Himself in a Cupboard - and in all fairness he rarely writes anything that isn't interesting.
If you want to get Barney Ronay's thoughts on today's Champions League Final between Inter Milan
and Bayern Munich, watch this short trailer which was created and produced by the video design team
of Laurence McKenna and Max Bell.
The entire interview with Barney Ronay, which was filmed inside The Guardian's offices, will be
released soon.

We're all about keeping things light today, dear readers, as motivation ain't running too
high.
Because our inner fantasies can barely contain themselves, we're playing The Kickette Word
Association Game. The rules are this: we'll give a word and/or phrase and you must disclose the
first thought/person that comes to mind.

After Barney Ronay's thoughtful piece on David Beckham's inability to exit stage left, comes the
horrific prospect that Beckham will NEVER go away, EVER.
Hollywood midget Tom Cruise, he of the stacked heels, claims he's urged his good pal Becks to
take up acting.
First things first, no one was injured yesterday. There are still a few days left in this
International break so let's keep our fingers crossed. As for yesterday's matches, here's a quick
round up:
Don Vito Mannone was in goal for the Italy U21s against Belarus U21s. He did a solid job from
what I saw and I hope he gets some playing time soon so he can continue his progress.
The High Court has ruled in favour of Royal Bank of Scotland and against Liverpool co-owners Tom
Hicks and George Gillett, meaning the takeover agreed by the board with New England Sports Ventures
(NESV) can go through as planned.

Alex Song and Benoit Assou-Ekotto sat down recently for an interview to discuss the North London
derby and to answer some questions about who will win between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Plus the two players had a chance to play FIFA 11 featuring Spurs against Arsenal, and you'll
have to watch the above video to see which team/player won.
