Manchester United midfielder Anderson has been the centre of attention at the club's Carrington
training ground due to his hair-cut. The Brazilian international was unable to find a braider
during his time in Beijing at the Olympics, thus leaving his hair looking like it is.
His United team-mates have apparently been giving the 20-year old dog's abuse in recent days.
Arsene Wenger admitted following Arsenal's 2-1 win over Barnet that Arsenal are still shopping for
players and that the fans can expect to see some signings this summer. So who should Wenger be in
the market for?
Stevenage Borough last night announced that former Ipswich academy coach Steve Greaves has been
appointed as first team coach under the new managerial set up at Broadhall Way. Greaves spent 14
years as a coach at Portman Road after being forced to quit playing football at the age of just 24
after spells with Fulham, [.
Upsets left right and centre in today's FA Cup action. But what was the biggest shock?Coventry
somehow managed to obliterate Blackburn 4-1, whilst League One Huddersfield beat Birmingham 2-1.
Special mention should also go to Sheffield United who booted out Bolton with a 1-0 win lowly and
injury ravaged Oldham, who beat Everton 1-0 at [.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger spoke after Arsenal's 2-1 pre-season win over Barnet. He answers
questions about the state of the club and if there are any transfers still coming to North London.
Our first preseason friendly is done and dusted, and while it certainly wasn't Arsenal at their
best, we did get the job done eventually. It was great to see so many youngsters along with some of
the veterans, plus our new signings Ramsey and Coquelin on display. Carlos Vela was not included in
the squad, presumably due to some type of injury.
A greatly weakened Arsenal side were victorious over Barnet at Underhill yesterday. The Gunners
celebrated a 2-1 victory thanks to second half goals from Jay Simpson and Nacer Barazite. Gael
Clichy's mate Kenny Gillet scored Barnet's only goal. It was a very relaxed affair, with the tempo
and tackling kept to a minimum.
One player of experience will definitely join Arsenal, according to Arsene Wenger. In an interview
after Saturday's game at Barnet, Wenger was asked about impending signings, his reply was, 'I
cannot give you any names, but we are still thinking of bringing in one player, yes. We've lost
good players, but we have bought two [.
Arsenal sneak friendly win over north London neighbours Nothing much to report from the game, which
was played in an over-friendly spirit - Barnet don't want to do anything to jeopardise this
lucrative fixture, clearly. Aaron Ramsey made his Arsenal...
Morning all. Today is July 21st which means that all the players that played in the Euros,
including Samir Nasri, report for training today. So welcome to Samir, welcome back to van Persie,
and not welcome back to Emmanuel Adebayor.
So we'll start with the boss talking about Theo Walcott.
The traditional pre-season friendly between Arsenal and Barnet continues this year, on Saturday the
two sides will meet at Underhill Stadium and it is expected to be a full house. This friendly is
normally used for a mixture of first team regulars and youthful prospects, some players that
featured in the European Championships will not [.
Arsenal and Mexico forward Carlos Vela is already keen to start for Arsene Wenger's side,
when the Gunners take on League 2 side Barnet tomorrow afternoon at Underhill in the
traditional pre-season opener. Arsenal manager Arséne Wenger has included him in the squad,
which is a mixture of first team and Reserve players.
Arsene Wenger has some big plans for Aaron Ramsey, who is expected to make his Arsenal debut today
against Barnet. The 17-year-old signing from Cardiff City can play a variety of positions but
Wenger thinks the youngster has a future...
It's now 12 minutes from kick off and I have to tell you that I am super excited. It's been far too
long since I've gotten up and thrown on the Arsenal kit to watch a match. I'll have a match report
up right after the match with full reports on young Carlos Vela and Aaron Ramsey. I hope you all
enjoy this as much as I do!
The first pre-season game is in the bag. I caught the 10-minute highlights on Arsenal TV Online;
recommended for all Gooners.
The first goal came form Jay Simpson, with the kind of finish you'd expect from a 20-goal striker.
The Londoner Simpson then had the assist for the second goal to Nacer Barazite, whose finish was
right off the top shelf.
Highlights from both Arsenal and Liverpool's weekend friendlies... Barnet 1-2 Arsenal Meh. Not too
much learned from this....
Morning all. It's hard to write up match previews for these friendlies because there isn't shite
for news before them. You can't find starting lineups, you can't find anything on the other team,
and the manager doesn't speak before them. But we're going to throw one out here anyway because I'm
just that nice.
The non-Premier League side of English football was back with a bang this weekend. Not only was
there Kevin Phillips off the bench ninetysomethingth minute matchwinner for Birmingham in the
Championship, there was this goal in League Two. Barnet's Ashley Carew strikes the free kick from
inside his own half but still beat the Chesterfield keeper [.
Stevenage Borough's Youth team begin their FA Youth Cup campaign tonight when they face
Bishop's Stortford at Broadhall Way. It's the first game in the Youth Cup for the newly
formed youth side since Colin Read took over during the summer. In their last game
Boro were beaten quite comfortably at Broadhall Way by Barnet.
Stevenage Borough have freshened up their squad on the loan deadline day which today finished at
5pm. 3 players have come in, but no one has left the club, that we know of. Joining Boro are centre
half Mark Roberts from Northwich Victoria, Watford youngster Jordan Parkes and ex QPR and Barnet
forward Kieron St [.
As newspapers across the world fill their pages with transfer gossip, football fans are surely
wondering when they can actually see their heroes step onto the pitch again. Surprisingly, most
teams kick off their preseason schedules in about a week. Premiership Talk highlights Premiership
teams' preseason plans:
- Manchester United kickoff their preseason against Aberdeen on July 12th.
Barnet v Arsenal 19 July 2008 - kick-off 3.00pm @ Underhill - Live on Arsenal TV Arsenal's
traditional curtain raiser takes place this week-end at Underhill, where a youthful and non-Euro
2008 Arsenal will take on Barnet. Packed into this little ground in north London, there will 5,500
fans wanting to get their first glimpse [.
A warm July afternoon saw Arsenal kick-off the 2008/09 campaign with a game at Underhill against
League 2 side Barnet. The early exchanges saw Barnet on top with Almunia called upon to make an
early save. Arsenal eventually settled down and started to dominate with early glimpses of Ramsey's
ability on display.
Arsenal's new season started today with a friendly against League 2 side Barnet. Arsenal
played a mixture of youth and first team members in a hard fought victory at Underhill stadium. The
Arsenal line up was: Arsenal:
-1.Almunia - 3. Sagna 5. Nordtviet 6.
So pre-season kicked off with a 2-1 win over Barnet yesterday.
We were losing 1-0 at half-time then changed the entire team around and goals from Jay Simpson
and Nacer Barazite secured the win. There really is nothing much to be read into a friendly at this
stage but one or two of the younger players caught the eye apparently, Jack Wilshere in particular
looking rather good.
No not Junior Lewis, but Stuart Lewis could soon be back at Broadhall
Way in a loan deal. Stevenage are apparently looking into the possibility of bringing him
back in a loan deal. Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has made the former Tottenham and Barnet
midfielder available on loan in order to get more first team football.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that the North London giants are close to signing 15
year-old Gillingham starlet Luke Freeman. The English striker is the youngest player ever to have
featured in the FA Cup after coming on against Barnet in the first round of the competition at the
tender age of 15 years and 233 days.
The transfer merry go round appears to have only just commenced, obviously Samir Nasri has now
signed on the dotted line but I would be very surprised if nothing else happened in the next week
or two. With our first friendly being Barnet on the 19th of July and our first competitive game
being the Champions League qualifier on the 12th August, I'd reckon Arsene would want any signings
to have

Some familiar names, some ones that I've never heard of.
Finally some relief from transfer speculation that had driven me crazy to the extent of checking
each and every website or blog for the slightest hint regarding a possible transfer news. Alas, The
Great One, answered my request and arranged for the first pre-season friendly against Barnet at
Underhill Stadium .

Barnet had led at half time through Kenny Gillet's surprise free kick goal but the Gunners hit
back with goals from Simpson and Barazite.
I sat through the Barnet game on TV on Saturday. It was utterly pointless for the most part, but it
was good to see some footy for a change rather than reading crap in the papers about players. First
impression is the new strip. Its not terrible, but the absence of white on the sleeves is very
noticeable from the back.

Within the last half-hour Southend United have completed the signing of Francis Laurent. The
Frechman moves to Roots Hall on a one-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.
The 22-year-old had a trial with Barnet in the middle of August but they refused the option of
signing him. The striker was part of FC Mainz 05's team last season and played 6
times as a substitute.
