With a race row brewing in France we thought we would look back at a podcast from October 2008 when we featured a campaign by the organisation Kick It Out which set up an anti-racism campaign in England. The New England Revolution and the Chicago Fire met at Gillette Stadium tonight in a battle of struggling MLS teams.

The Fire had been a bogey team for New England as they had failed to beat Chicago in the previous 8 matches.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Rajko Lekic scored the second goal of his Revolution career canceling out a first half Chicago Fire lead, but the home side failed to convert another of their numerous chances and was forced to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Rajko Lekic was relieved to finally score his second goal of the season on Saturday.

There's usually two schools of thought after particularly awful matches things could be so bad that some swear off the football for awhile, the things they've seen never to unseen. The Revolution used its second overall pick to select former University of Rhode Island midfielder Danleigh Borman from Toronto during Stage 1 of today's Re-entry Draft. Since Borman is out of contract, the league will extend a Bona Fide offer to him to play for the Revolution.

Borman played in 21 games for the Reds and recorded three assists in 2011.

The New England Revolution waived defender Emmanuel Osei today.

Osei, known for his erratic play, was let go after two seasons with the team. The Accra, Ghana, native, who took up an international roster spot, made 44 appearances for New England, including 41 starts.

Osei, at times, proved a solid partner in the center of the defense for Darrius Barnes.

Here at CCN we haven't got too involved with the whole transfer window nonsense. Perhaps the recent good performances have dulled our hunger; perhaps the return of various players just make things look a bit better.

Before the window we'd have identified the following needs:

a defender of some sort.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. It's fair to say that the 2010 MLS season could not end soon enough for Darrius Barnes.

For the third-year center back, who enjoyed a solid rookie season in 2009, any hopes he harbored of avoiding a sophomore jinx were quickly dashed after last season became a high-speed train wreck of team struggles and injury issues.

According to a report from the Boston Globe, the Revolution have reached a loan agreement with Chacarita Juniors (Argentina) to sign defender Franco Coria to New England's roster. Terms of the loan have not been confirmed, although it is believed that it may include language that will allow the Revolution to purchase Coria's contract.

Kentucky is the fourth and final team to qualify for the Final Four. Although the underdog against North Carolina, freshman Brandon Knight led Kentucky with 22 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. With big shots late, Kentucky won by a final score of 76-69. Kentucky will play UConn for the right for a spot in the national championship game.

Didier Domi Released, Somewhere Seth Sinovic Is Laughing

The Revs announced the other day that they've parted ways with Didier Domi. This leads me to believe they'll either be bringing in a left-back, or a left winger and moving Tierney to left-back, or they really think that Darrius Barnes is a good long term solution at fullback.

Well, I'm glad I tempered my expectations for this one. I went into this one pretty sure we wouldn't be walking away with 3 points. So, I can't say I was terribly disappointed with the result, since I was ready for it. I was, however, pretty disappointed with the way we played. Just when you think that maybe we've learned, we go and commit the same old stupid mistakes that we've been committing all season.

Kenny Dalglish has spoken of his delight at seeing Steven Gerrard return to competitive action following six months out after requiring surgery on a troublesome groin injury.

The Liverpool captain played 16 minutes of the Carling Cup win at Brighton last night and Dalglish believes having Gerrard back in the fold could be huge for the team.

Darrius Barnes has had an impressive three years in Major League Soccer. He entered the league in the 2009 SuperDraft. He was drafted by the New England Revolution and has remained a stalwart defender from day one. In his first season, he played every minute. That's no small feat for any player, let alone a rookie.

Saturday night in Foxboro the Revolution once again squandered an early lead and succumbed to defeat to Seattle 2-1. Sadly, it's a script all too familiar to the members of the 2011 squad, and it certainly sticks out as the team's biggest shortcoming. After surrendering two more goals on Saturday, the "goals against" tally for New England eclipsed the 50 goal milestone, as the Revs have now conceded 51 times this season, putting them behind only Toronto FC for worst in the league.
