The Union reserve team opened up their season yesterday morning against the New England Revolution's reserve squad with a 4-2 victory. With the sun beating down on the Chester Field pitch and the wind gusting, the Union reserves played a strong 90 minutes. Due to the Union's bye week, some players who may not have normally played with the reserve team, like Josue Martinez and Roger Torres, got a chance to get some good minutes in during the match.

The Revolution used its second overall pick to select former University of Rhode Island midfielder Danleigh Borman from Toronto during Stage 1 of today's Re-entry Draft. Since Borman is out of contract, the league will extend a Bona Fide offer to him to play for the Revolution.

Borman played in 21 games for the Reds and recorded three assists in 2011.

Saturday night in Foxboro the Revolution once again squandered an early lead and succumbed to defeat to Seattle 2-1. Darrius Barnes has had an impressive three years in Major League Soccer. He entered the league in the 2009 SuperDraft. He was drafted by the New England Revolution and has remained a stalwart defender from day one. In his first season, he played every minute. That's no small feat for any player, let alone a rookie.

There's usually two schools of thought after particularly awful matches things could be so bad that some swear off the football for awhile, the things they've seen never to unseen. Or there's the view that another match can't come quickly enough, regardless of whether or not it promises something better.

Well, I'm glad I tempered my expectations for this one. I went into this one pretty sure we wouldn't be walking away with 3 points. So, I can't say I was terribly disappointed with the result, since I was ready for it. I was, however, pretty disappointed with the way we played. Just when you think that maybe we've learned, we go and commit the same old stupid mistakes that we've been committing all season.
