Funny Feeling Friday: Gareth Bale

Never Captain Nicky Butt 12 March @ 01:41 PM EDT
He doesn't have ears, but he has some wicked pace
David Bentley and Aaron Lennon are out injured. Tottenham are fighting for 4th position. They have some superb central playmakers (Modric, Kranjcar, Palacios) and finishers up front (Crouch, Defoe, Pavlyuchenko) but who will provide the service from the flanks? Click to continue reading...

Cesc or Wayne - Who will you captain?
Another strange week that sees a few top teams missing fixtures in the Premier League schedule, so let's navigate the fixture list minefield and quickly preview the weekend from a fantasy footie perspective:
I & II: Burnley @ Arsenal: With Chelsea idle, Arsenal have a chance to take over first place in the table this weekend if they are able to thrash the league's worst road team, Burnley, at home. Click to continue reading...

Bobby Zamora for England?

Never Captain Nicky Butt 21 February @ 07:38 PM EDT
He's British. He's quick. He's strong. And he's in the form of his career. Nope, I'm not talking about Wayne Rooney.
I'm talking Bobby Zamora. Yes, Zamora, of all strikers. Our former Funny Feeling Friday has never really had the best Premier League goalscoring record (though he did score an amazing 83 times in 136 appearances for Brighton and Hove Albion in the lower leagues), and he's never had an England National Team call up, but perhaps he deserves one. Premier League Gameweek 27 Fantasy Preview

You don't look cool, Wayne, but you are a hell of a footballer
After a great mid-week of Champions League action, we are back to our bread and butter this weekend - the Premier League. Hope you guys took our advice last week and captained N'Zogbia and to those of you who were brave enough (or crazy enough) to include Landon Donovan in your teams despite his tough match against Chelsea as we did - congrats on the assist and Donovan's 2 bonus points. Charles 'don't call me Insomnia' N'Zogbia for Captain?
A very very hectic few weeks here at work and so I won't be able to go into the depth I'd like to with this midweek Fantasy Premier League preview, but I'll give you a taste of my thinking and hope it goes a long way to inspire some decision making on your part. Click to continue reading...

Nani is hitting top form
Let's preview the Premier League from a fantasy perspective...
I. Arsenal @ Chelsea: We predicted a Big-4 away win last weekend, taking United over Arsenal - and Wayne Rooney and company delivered. Can Cesc Fabregas and Arsenal pull together an away win shocker at Stamford Bridge this weekend? Click to continue reading...

Premier League Gameweek 21 Fantasy Preview

Tevez is a stud, not a dud
That break seemed like it lasted forever. Boxing Day fixtures, the New Year, then a bit of FA Cup action, some snow mixed in between, and now we're back to the Premier League this weekend...
I. Tottenham @ Liverpool: One of these two teams most certainly will not make the Top 4. Click to continue reading...

Premier League Gameweek 20 Fantasy Preview

The Fantasy Stuff Legends Are Made Of
For brevity's sake, I'm going to skip the game previews and discuss Studs and Duds as well as a predicted Gameweek 20 Best Eleven... It's that "in between" period in the holiday season, and we all have family / extracurricular / etc. obligations so let's go brief for these midweek fixtures. Click to continue reading...

Arabs Play Hot-Potato with Pompey: Club Sold Again

Never Captain Nicky Butt 07 October @ 08:32 AM EDT
Pompey picked up some Saudi Oil money today as Saudi tycoon Ali al-Faraj bought 90% of the financially stricken club from Sulaiman al-Fahim.
Al-Fahim, of Abu Dhabi, bought the club just 44 days ago - but he's out and the 40-year-old al-Faraj is in.
So, what does this mean? Well - for starters, not much on the pitch: Pompey may have a large arsenal of cash to use in the January transfer window - but they'll have to stick with their hodgepodge of new signings and on-loan stars (O'Hara 4. Click to continue reading...

He Can't Be Worse than Bobby Zamora: Altidore to Fulham?

Never Captain Nicky Butt 24 June @ 01:29 PM EDT

Jozy Altidore Highlight Reel from The Offside Rules on Vimeo.

Just a summer transfer rumor for you to consume alongside your Confederations Cup consumption this week - Fulham are considering bringing in US striker Jozy Altidore on loan.
Though I've never seen Altidore live, he was born in the same city (Livingston, NJ) that I attended a few years of high school. Click to continue reading...

EPL Gameweek 35 Fantasy Preview: Pinch Me, I'm Better than George Best

Never Captain Nicky Butt 30 April @ 10:26 PM EDT
Flying back to LAX yesterday, I had a layover in Chicago. I got off the plane and walked into the United Airlines terminal - and was immediately surrounded by hundreds of travelers wearing those goofy respiratory masks. I mean, hundreds. Women and men, young and old, all pretending to be surgeons. Click to continue reading...

EPL Gameweek 34 Fantasy Preview

Never Captain Nicky Butt 23 April @ 09:09 PM EDT
Why waste 10M (Arshavin) on a brilliant midfielder classified as a striker when you can spend just 6.6M (Walcott) for one? Will the cheap Amr Zaki return to Wigan's starting lineup and get in on the goals? Will the even cheaper Nicklas Bendtner put two in the back of the net to send down Boro?
A week of major fantasy question marks due to injuries, rest and rotation news is upon us. Click to continue reading...

Cisse Attacks a Stripper; Set to Play for Tennessee Titans Next Year

Never Captain Nicky Butt 01 April @ 11:00 AM EDT
Mid-priced fantasy footie bargain striker Djibril Cisse was arrested early this morning after attacking a woman outside of a strip club. The striker was arrested for assault, questioned, and bailed pending further inquiries.
The on loan striker - who already has claim to fame as possessing one of the weakest tibias in human anatomy history - was uncertain about his future with Sunderland despite hitting for 9 Premier League goals this term. Click to continue reading...

EPL Gameweek 27 Fantasy Preview: I'm an Idiot

Never Captain Nicky Butt 26 February @ 02:36 PM EDT
Before we jump into our weekend preview and look at (I) the best match (II) the most fantasy footie friendly encounter (III) a prediction of Premier League stud and dud performers and (IV) a weekly best eleven, I want to make a quick mathematical point about this dreaded fantasy footie gameweek.
Most of you are very knowledgeable fantasy Premier League managers, so you don't need me to preach to you the importance of limiting the number of - 4 point hits you take during the course of a fantasy season. Click to continue reading...

Some Manchester United news for those of you who are a) United fans b) fantasy footie managers with United ownership or c) former Wall Street employees without jobs due to the economic meltdown.

Inventor of Dyslexia Martin Škrtel Returns as Agger moves to Milan

Never Captain Nicky Butt 15 January @ 11:55 AM EDT
According to reports, Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is set for a move to AC Milan. The Danish stud has made just nine appearances for Liverpool this campaign.
If the transfer goes through (and this looks more and more likely judging by my first-hand translation of Danish media reports), Liverpool fans will surely question the mid-season move to leave them with only three top class central defenders. Click to continue reading...
