Gary Cahill made his long awaited debut for
Chelsea against United last Sunday and I thought
he did well and looked calm and composed. OK there is an argument that he was part of a defence
that conceded three goals but two of them were penalties and you he is in no way at fault for the
Hernandez header.
Good morning and welcome to that most exciting of days. Tuesday.
Sorry, I mean Transfer Deadline Day. The day when all kinds of deals go down. Players are traded
like cattle, Premier League slave ships buffet about in the choppy waters scouring for a bargain
here or cast-off there, oh, the fun we'll have.
Milan transfer guru Adriano Galliani definitely knows how to work a bargain. Since 1986, when he
started his long and prosperous career at the Via Turati, the man known as Uncle Fester has been
the man behind the scenes. The one who has engineered deals that have seen so many of the world's
best players [.
Buy Belgian. Ho.
We talked yesterday about the club allegedly reentering talks with Racing Genk over the transfer
of the young Belgium international Kevin De Bruyne. Those talks (gasp) are actually true.
This according to a spokesman for Genk:
Dirk Degraen is in London and the expectation is that it (the transfer of De Bruyne) will be
finished this week.
Football at the moment is about money isn't it. All we are reading and hearing about at the moment
is either player salaries or the size of transfer fee's. Chelsea are now a club that is constantly
linked with big money moves in EVERY transfer window as AVB looks to rejuvenate our club out of the
shadows of the Mourinho era.
Everton is in dire need of attacking help, and once again turned to an American to try and help
turn things around.
The Toffees have handed Edson Buddle a week-long trial, and will be hoping to find a
goal-scoring bargain at a time the squad is struggling to generate goals.
If there was ever an award for a manager who can pick a bargain, look no further than a certain
David Moyes. Having to overcome financial obligations in the transfer market year after year,
Everton have always been widely seen ...

Mail: Harry Redknapp: Demba Ba release clause is less than £10million

Liverpool has held talks with the representatives of Jaguares striker Jackson Martinez.
The Colombia international, 25, has also attracted strong interest from Manchester City, Chelsea
and Arsenal but his club have raised the price since negotiations were opened in September.
He was originally available for a bargain £5.
News has broken this morning as the now the transfer window is open, that Alex will speak to QPR
about a possible move to Loftus Road as early as today.
Some people have questioned with all our injury problems lately, as to why Alex has been frozen out
and not called back into the squad but you have to give credit to AVB for sticking to his guns.
This right here is a shocker. Eh, not really.
The club today confirmed that it had agreed a fee with Bolton for Gary Cahill. It's not a done
deal yet, though, with personal terms still far off between the two parties.

There's not much in the way of significant news circulating in the immediate wake of our grossly
disappointing 1-1 draw in Wigan on Saturday afternoon. What we do have, though, is a few
interesting tidbits to touch on. Let's take a look shall we?

Chasing a huge goal difference swing and needing POAK to beat Rubin Kazan elsewhere, the odds
were against Tottenham making it through to the knockout phases last night, but they held up their
end of the bargain by racking up an impressive drubbing of Shamrock Rovers at the Tallaght Steven
Pienaar, Andros Townsend (a real beauty, well worth watching the highlights for), Jermain Defoe and
Harry Kane all bagging a goal apiece.
Jose Enrique has been a revelation since arriving at Anfield, and he's arguably proving to be the
summer's biggest bargain. One little known fact about the left back is that he started his playing
career as a striker, so it comes as no surprise that his favourite player is a striker.Enrique, who
has scored only one goal in his two hundred-game career, revealed:"I started off as a forward
myself,

The FFF have today announced that Lens' Venezuelan defender Gabriel Cichero will not be allowed
to play again until March 15th 2011 after being caught on CCTV assaulting Bastia director Alain
Seghi in the tunnel following a match in the French second division on October 15th.
I think it's fair to say that Andy Carroll has struggled at Liverpool since his 35m move from
Newcastle. Things just haven't gone according to plan, and lately, he's found it increasingly hard
to break into the first team. At Chelsea on Sunday, Carroll was given only three measly minutes of
pitch time, but in that short period, he delivered a mini-masterclass of footballing technique,
skill, movement, and composure on the ball, and offered a compelling reminder of why Kenny Dalglish
handed over 35m for his services.

Bayern Munich will be without their influential midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger until at least
the New Year after the German International underwent surgery on his fractured collar-bone injury
picked up last night in Bayern's 3-2 win against Napoli last night.
Schweinsteiger who has been a target for both Manchester United and Chelsea had a plate inserted
into his fractured collar-bone is said to be ok after the successful surgery and will leave
Hospital tomorrow.
News today that Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are fighting it out for Lille striker Moussa
Sow. Moussa Sow are Newcastle interested? Sow had an excellent season last season playing for the
eventual French Champions, and since Newcastle were watching Yohan Cabaye, who joined them in the
summer for a bargain €5M price tag, [.
One of the persistent (and unfair) criticisms of Charlie Adam this season is the alleged 'fact'
that he can't tackle, and that he's poor defensively. Lucas is widely accepted to be Liverpool's
best defensive midfielder, so I've compared Adam to Lucas in a bid to show that the criticism of
the Scot's defensive ability is completely unwarranted.
One think you forget about regarding these St. Louis Cardinals is that arguably their best
pitcher has missed the entire season. Adam Wainwright, who was 20-11 last year with a 2.42 ERA, has
thrown a pitch in 2011. Even without him, the Cardinals are two wins away from a World Series
championship.

You would think that the last thing that Spurs need right now is another midfielder, but that
hasn't stopped the rumour mills linking the club with a whole host of players from across
Europe.
The latest of these is 26 year old Italian international Riccardo Montolivo whose contract is up
at the end of the season.
Spurs look set to lose one Brazilian from their squad in January but the question is, how many
if any will be coming the other way.
Harry Redknapp had already stated that Heurelho Gomes would be looking for a new club ahead of
the new season in Brazil – comments that he has underlined today.
The transfer rumours over a new Spurs striker continue to hot up and as Leandro Damiao's stock
continues to rise, so does his alleged transfer fee. With figures of around £15m quoted back in
the summer, some stories have emerged suggesting that Internacional will be looking for a figure
nearer to £40m when the Brazilian season comes to an end.
'He'll be bargain of the summer'
John Aldridge believes Craig Bellamy could prove to be the bargain buy of the summer.

It was about as late as they come, but, in the end, we've added some exquisite tattoo work to

Chelsea left it late really fucking late. It hardly matters now, though, as they have pulled off
quite a coup in my mind.

Arsenal have hi-jacked Lille's deal to sign Monaco striker Park Chu-Young.
Park was due to undergo the second part of a medical with Lille after completing the first part
yesterday, the thing is during that time Arsenal seem to have had a bid accepted by Monaco and they
in turn granted Wenger permission to speak to the player.
If you watched Manchester United in the preseason or against West Brom, the one obvious
difference between this season and last season is that United have a younger, faster, more mobile
team where players easily interchange positions.
United are a yard faster all over the pitch than they were last season.

Liverpool are thought to have nudged their noses ahead in the race to sign Bolton centre-half
Gary Cahill after Kenny Dalglish gave the green-light for David N'Gog and Raheem Sterling to be
included as ballast in the deal along with a cheque for £10 million.

Attacking proficiency on the right side of our defense is not exactly something we've possessed
in recent seasons. That's hardly a secret.
Sure, Branislav Ivanovic has been outstanding as a fullback. Outstanding in the face of being
forced into the position. Applaud the man. Still, no matter how much we love him (and trust me we
do), his ability in the offensive third of the field has never been of elite quality.
With the Premier League start beginning, it's time for previews. Take it away, Amy Lawrence:
Gervinho might prove to be another classic Arsène Wenger bargain, an athletic and pacy ball player
raring to step up a level, spirited over from France for a fee that doesn't make a certain manager
with a well-documented devotion to cautious housekeeping choke as if he was asked to fix the Greek
economy before breakfast.
