Inter Milan have sacked manager Gian Piero Gasperini after just three months. The Internazionale
manager got his side off to a very poor start to the 2011-12 Serie A season after losing to
Palermo, drawing Roma at home but then losing 3-1 away against Novara.
While the 0-0 result against Roma on Saturday may not have looked so bad on paper, it was a game
that Roma dictated for large portions of the match.

Last week that fine gent and upstanding journo, Martin Samuel, claimed that Arsenal can no
longer attract genuine world stars, is this right?
For a start lets be honest have we actually ever signed someone at the top of their game?
Bergkamp was a truly world class player, but when we signed him, he was in a massive dip, the
top teams at the time AC Milan, Madrid just were not interested.
As the official start of another transfer window draws near (for those unaware, in Italy it doesn't
officially until July 1) the time has come to examine Inter's summer 2011 calciomercato. The first
and most important move of the close season has been announcing Gian Piero Gasperini as the new
head coach.
As my readers know, I am more of an AC Milan fan than an Inter one. Lately however, the
Rossoneri seem to be on a parallel path to their owner, Berlusconi. AC Milan is synonymous amongst
football fans with fuoriclasse. The most titled club in the past 20 years has always had
an image of style, class, elegance, think Maldini, Van Basten, Sacchi, Baresi, Shevchenko, etc
here.
Well done Arsenal. I am aware that it is only half-time in the tie, but it is a result that
should generate some confidence to take to the Nou Camp. Barca will still be the favourites, but
there is plenty to play for.
At times Barca were their usual impressive self, but for large parts of the match Arsenal were
creating the real chances.
