As per the new regulations all the clubs have now announced their 25 player squads along with a
long list of U-21 players who've been registered so that they are eligible to play in the Premier
League just in case. You can see complete details of the squad lists and junior players of all the
20 clubs on the official site.
Before the game I was quite anxious. In the last two seasons we've seen young teams struggle in
this competition away from home against top 6 Premier League sides. Thankfully, Arsene had learnt
his lesson and he put out a really strong starting eleven. And once I saw the Tiny Totts' starting
line-up all the anxiety was turned into anticipation of a big win.
I'm not sure I can do as good a job of analyzing this game as Tony did over at Untold . Still
I'd like to give it a shot. It gives me another chance to dwell on a fantastic win. It's difficult
to analyze this without the kind of stats that we get for the Premiership or Champions League
games. I'll just share my observations from the game.
Welcome to Wags and Stags where we pit the Barclays Premier League's perfect pairings against each
other as they represent their respective clubs in our fun-filled game.
We've trawled squads around the country to select the Premier League stars - and their better
halves - to "play" for their clubs in our contest of glitz and glamour.
In the years gone by I'd have talked about Bolton with a degree of contempt in a manner similar
to what I use for Stoke or Blackburn. This has changed somewhat since the appointment of Owen
Coyle, one of the few English managers that I respect. Even then, and with due respect, I
don't expect Bolton to be any different from the other mid-table teams that come to the
Emirates.
In his press conference after the Braga game Arsene was asked if he expected Wilshere to play a
central role so early in the season. In his usual forthright manner Arsene shared his wisdom,
Honestly, no. But football teaches you one thing be open-minded and never have a definite
opinion.
Premier League team news - Barclays Premier League - ESPN Soccernet Not much of consequence from
either Liverpool or Citeh's matches in Europa Cup on Thursday as far as injuries go. Here are the
bits of news that you should be focused on as you make the final adjustments to your rosters for
the weekend: Out Frank Lampard - Still not recovered from his groin injury/surgery.
Well this has nothing to do with Arsenal. In fact, Arsenal are conspicuous by their absence in
the names that Allardyce has mentioned. But I haven't stopped laughing since I read this so it's
worth sharing.
Speaking before the game against Fulham, Fat Sam said:
I'm not suited to Bolton or Blackburn, I would be more suited to Inter Milan or Real Madrid.
It was with great interest that I noted that England's side against Switzerland contained no
fewer than six players from Manchester City. Since the arrival of the money men at Eastlands, I
have been a huge critic of the haphazard way in which City have gone about trying to achieve
success.
It has always struck me as being like applying a cheat code in Championship Manager which allows
you to buy whoever you want.
I recently discovered the twitter profile of Fabregas, at least I think it's the real deal. I'm
not very familiar with twitter so can't claim to be sure but you can judge for yourself.
Like most of us, Cesc was quite happy with the win at Spuds,
It feels good ....Great performance!
West Brom are a team that I respect. I'd even say I like them and will support them in their
quest to avoid relegation. They are a team that deserves to do well in the Premier League. I feel
this way because the Baggies are a team that tries to play football the right way. They fight hard,
but not dirty; they try to defend well, exploit set-pieces, shoot from distance – but they don't
intentionally foul goalkeepers, or kick opposition players, and their manager is not a scumbag.
The huge gulf in class between the two teams was eventually exposed as Arsenal won the game
convincingly, albeit with a few hiccups along the way. For a while it looked much closer than it
should have been, mainly due to the endeavour of the hosts, good goalkeeping, and profligacy of the
Arsenal attackers.
While discussing the openness of the title race as predicted by Arsene, my thoughts were that
the year end table will look like United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, City, and doesn't matter
after that. But I wanted to wait till the end of the transfer window before making my predictions
for the season.
It seems every time Arshavin gives an interview in Russia he ends up making headlines back in
England. Some hacks have made an art out of translating an odd word out of context and making an
issue out of it.
The latest translation we've seen is from an interview with Sport Express. The English media has
jumped onto these words,
As for football I can say that my style has also altered it is more effective, but less
sparkling.
I'd been meaning to do the tactical analysis of the Blackburn game earlier but last week was
quite busy, and since this weekend didn't have any games I thought watching the win at Ewood Park
again would be a good way to get the Arsenal fix.
I know many articles have already been written about this game and many of you've probably moved
on.
There's not much happening in the world of Arsenal. Even a comment from Fabregas that had enough
juice to launch a thousand headlines didn't really get much attention (and I don't have words to
describe how delighted I am by that). One rag did conjure an amazing headline about how Arsenal
kept El Capitan against his wishes but it seems most other hacks are busy with the Cricket scandal
or the Rooney scoop.
I'm watching the Switzerland England game and Theo was stretchered off just after he did well to
create space for Glen Johnson who picked up an assist. It's not clear how he got the injury but it
was part of the same attack from which the goal was scored.
He was strapped around his chest and his thigh as he was stretchered off.
That was the sentiment many expressed when Walcott was injured. I hate internationals
is another common feeling that is shared by football fans across club boundaries. And I totally
relate with anyone who has gone bonkers with the news that Walcott will be out for six weeks or
so.
These are times when the polite ones go ‘WTF!
If you, like me, don't follow the Portuguese league or the early stages of the Champions League
then you probably don't know much about Braga. That's the reason I was quite interested in
listening to Arsene's opinion about our opponents on Wednesday night. These are the points I got
from the press conference,
Braga are team that is physically strong, well organized, play with quick transition from
defence to offence, and are good with shots from distance.
This was one of those rare games that falls in the category, Easier Done Than Said. Many
expected Braga to put up a stronger challenge. Given their wins over Celtic and Sevilla in the
qualifying stages it was a justified opinion. I thought the occasion, first time ever in the
Champions League, got to them.
Arguably the most awaited fixture of every Premier League season, Liverpool against Manchester
United is the most intense football rivalry in English football. The fact that neither are
currently top of the Premiership will not be lost to either team. This match comes at an opportune
time not only to stamp one's superiority over the other but also to kickstart a bit of form in the
Premier League.
I don't remember the last time I was so frustrated by an Arsenal performance. It was as bad as
any relegation threatened side plays, perhaps worse. I don't claim to have a memory that covers
every game in the Wenger era but this will certainly be amongst the worst his team have played.
As you must have gathered by now I'm not in a good mood and this post is part rant, part
discussion, and part release of the steam in my head from a boiling brain.
Yesterday, some readers thought I was too harsh or overly negative, which came as a surprise to
me. Some thought I was reacting to the result which was quite strange. I read through the post
again and couldn't quite see where I said we were appalling because we dropped two points. I know I
was in a bad mood and there was a little hyperbole involved, especially in the title.
Normally I like to look at the tactical aspects of a game while writing a preview. In this case,
I tried thinking about it but frankly, I've no clue what's going to happen. It's always difficult
to predict what Arsene is going to do, and it seems even Twitchy is feeling the pressure of the
Champions League so will not start with his first team as he did last year.
Roberto Mancini admits defensive crisis at Manchester City | Mail Online Manchester City boss
Roberto Mancini claims he is desperately short of defensive options for Saturday's Barclays Premier
League visit of Chelsea with Micah Richards a major doubt. After last night's 2-1 Carling Cup defeat
at West Bromwich Albion, City could have just three fit defenders for the clash at Eastlands.

Meanwhile, Manchester City face a defensive crisis.Arsenal v West Bromwich AlbionVermaelen and
Fabregas are out with Diaby, Rosicky, and Eboue maybes.
It won't be an exaggeration to say that this result was the shock of the season so far, at least
in the Premier League. That is if you consider the reputation of the teams and their respective
home and away form. But if you see the performance on the pitch on the day it is very difficult to
say this was a shock.
In the sixth round of fixtures in this Barclays Premier League season, things took quite a
shocking turn. Saturday's theme appeared to be upsets as the underdogs hit back at the expense of
their significantly more fancied counterparts.
The day's action began at Eastlands where Carlos Tevez inspired Manchester City to pick up a 1-0
win over defending champions Chelsea.
(Summary is not available.)
Once more, it's a tale of Manchester United shooting themselves in the foot. Such talent oozing
from the walls of Old Trafford, but thus far this season, United have failed to produce the desired
results on the road. United are uncharacteristically chucking goals (and points) left and right
and that worrying trend shows no sign of abating, given the result at Bolton.
After the loss against West Brom, I just wrote my thoughts and took a break from the internet
for a couple of days. I had no doubt the vultures would be out and there would be all sorts of
opinions about our Keeper and our title chances. I don't pretend for a minute that we've done
ourselves any favours with the kind of performances we had in the last two Premiership games.
I was watching the highlights of the Champions League games when I came across this work of art.
Let's have a look at some pictures.
Bale brings the ball into the penalty area. Nothing wrong with that, it's a clever approach.
Then he keeps it closer to his left foot and away from the defender.
Newcastle United, like all teams in the premier league have names their 25 man squad for the season
until next January. Newcastle United have submitted their squad of no more than 25 players to the
Barclays Premier League, in accordance with the new regulations affecting all Premier League
clubs this season.

Another transfer season is officially in the books.
Rio Ferdinand returned to action last night when he played 45 minutes for the Manchester United
Reserves in the Senior Cup clash Vs Oldham Athletic.
The defender who was unable to captain England in South Africa due to knee ligament damage
completed 45 minutes at Bower Fold , and showed no ill-effects of the injury that prevented him
from playing in the World Cup as well as the opening month of the Barclays Premier League.
Jay Spearing has spoken of his determination to impress Roy Hodgson after being named in
Liverpool's 21-man squad for the Barclays Premier League.
For the 2010-11 season, top-flight clubs must register a squad of up to 25 players for league
games, which must include at least eight 'home grown' players and no more than 17 'non home grown'
players.
Since the Blackburn game we've seen a great deal of debate about the goal we conceded at Ewood
Park. I've seen a number of different opinions and one that really annoyed me was the rather
dismissive opinion about Koscielny simply because he didn't get the challenge on Diouf right.
I agree that it was a mistake but, as it was pointed out by some readers in the comments of the
tactical analysis post, it was more a case of mistiming a shoulder barge rather than a case of
being lightweight and getting outmuscled.
There are claims, there is endless speculation and there is somewhat shameless begging, but I
hope Jose Mourinho is comfortable at Real Madrid, because I'm sure he will be there for some
time.
Sir Alex Ferguson is adamant that he'll be at the helm of Manchester United until his health
knocks him off his perch and when that time comes, I'm certain that the self-proclaimed "Special
One" will be at the unfortunate end of world football's biggest snub.
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson wants to see an end to "the strange times" as the club awaits a
takeover.
Owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks tried to sell up this summer but interested parties such as
Kenny Huang failed to conclude a deal. With a debt of £351.4 million, the ex-Fulham supremo has
had to operate with his hands tied behind his back in the transfer market while a fresh cash
injection is awaited.
In an interesting twist of the club vs. country saga, Ryan Giggs has
turned down the chance to manage the Welsh national team, because of his commitment to Manchester
United.
Giggs has never hid his ambition to manage one day with United and the top job in Wales on his
hit list, and it brings up the point can he be the next one of Sir Alex Ferguson's prodigies to
enter management?
