It seems one of the things that may have prompted MLS to consider major changes to the schedule
might have been the words of ex-LA Galaxy boss, Ruud Gullit. In this interview with Britain's Daily
Mail he give MLS some constructive criticism that many readers here likely agree with.

The Arab invasion of the Barclays Premier League seems certain to continue, with Liverpool's
American owners weakening in their resistance to selling the club to Sheikh Mohammed, the ruler of
Dubai. Tom Hicks vetoed an attempted sale by George Gillett Jr, his co-chairman at Anfield, this
year, but the American tycoons are expected to return to the negotiating table as an unforgiving
financial climate takes a toll on their ambitions for the club.
Liverpool have today finally beaten Manchester United at Anfield today after seven years without a
victory against the Premier League Champions. The Merseyside giants came into today's game unbeaten
in the Premier League along with their rivals, but were desperate to secure three points after
several years without a victory over Sir Alex Ferguson's men.
Today's big game in the Premier League saw Chelsea and Manchester draw 1-1. In truth both Luis
Filipe Scolari and Sir Alex Ferguson will be reasonably happy with the point although with Chelsea
being at home, Scolari may feel a little upset.
Man United's Ji-Sung Park put the visitors in front after Chelsea keeper Peter Cech parried Dimitar
Berbatov's straight into the path of the on-rushing Park.

The Apparent Return of Gerry Francis to Football is being noted:

atmosphere to send shivers down the spines of any side visiting Anfield this season.
The Reds boss believes the introduction of the Barclays Premier League anthem has curbed the impact
of the club's anthem 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and feels that asking fans to sing the famous song
just prior to kick-off will help give his side a psychological edge.
Former Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle believes current boss Juande Ramos has "a mammoth
task" on his hands to turn around the club's faltering start to the Barclays Premier League
season. Ramos has picked up just a solitary point from his opening four league games this season to
leave Spurs floundering at the foot of the table [.
The Fulham midfield player is widely regarded as the Barclays Premier League's court jester, a
likeable individual whose infectious sense of fun is best demonstrated by the occasion when he
treated the Real Madrid squad to an impromptu performance of Old MacDonald Had a Farm during
a chance encounter in the bar of an Austrian hotel during a pre-season tour.

Rafael Benítez interrupted his preparation for today's match against Stoke City — in
which victory would send his Liverpool side to the top of the Barclays Premier League — to
spend four hours with a delegation of fans from the Spirit of Shankly (SOS) supporters' union on
Thursday. The Liverpool manager covered a wide range of subjects during the discussions but
reassured the fans that his future lies at Anfield.
He could be one of the greatest players in the history of the club, he's that good.

the trend spectacularly by minting the first £50 ticket for football outside the Barclays
Premier League.
Tottenham remain bottom of the Barclays Premier League table after only picking up a point at home
to Wigan Athletic today. At the start of the season, many fans and pundits felt they could break
into that elusive top four, but that looks a distant memory now.

34 years.
A consortium of wealthy Nigerians are planning to take over Newcastle United, according to a report

The Guardian/Matt Scott- Fans pay for takeover
Queens Park Rangers might be the richest club in the land - at least until Sheikh Mansour Al
Nahyan's takeover of Manchester City is completed - but fans should be careful what they wish for.
Loftus Road is a billionaires' playground, with Bernie Ecclestone, Flavio Briatore, left, and
Lakshmi Mittal on the board.
Arsenal started the day in top spot and were expected to crush Hull City at The Emirates. Football
though has a habit of bringing you back to Earth, the visitors doing so by winning 2 - 1. It did
not seem that it would be the case when Cesc Fabregas forced McShane to put through [...]
Liverpool have managed their best start to a league campaign for 11 years - and Fernando Torres has
only just got his act together.
Captain Steven Gerrard believes the Spaniard is back to his "deadly" best after Liverpool
"made a statement of intent" in the title race with their Merseyside derby victory.
Rafael Benitez suffered a torrent of abuse and saw his Liverpool side miss out on the chance to go

Liverpool made the sort of statement of intent that Rafa Benitez had been praying for on Saturday -
but he insists his team can still improve.
Five successive defeats by Manchester United in the league and a succession of hard-luck stories
against the Old Trafford men had meant that Benitez has never experienced league victory over Sir
Alex Ferguson.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez paid tribute to much-criticised Premier League new-boys Stoke but
warned: "We have the best midfield player in the world."
Benitez's unbeaten Reds face Tony Pulis' promoted Potters at Anfield intent on strengthening their

Arsenal (£96), Chelsea (£65), Tottenham (£75), West Ham (£63) and Fulham
(£70) charging more for top-priced tickets to category A games.
Liverpool's players responded to manager Rafael Benitez's pre-match challenge to earn themselves a
place in his plans for Saturday's Merseyside derby with a comfortable 2-1 victory over Crewe in the
third round of the Carling Cup.
Jermaine Pennant was a constant menace on the right flank while Lucas and Daniel Agger produced
assured performances to give the Spaniard a selection poser for the game against Everton.
Carlos Tevez was widely tipped to be remembered for his silky skills when he burst onto the scene
in his native Argentina. Sadly for the player, unless he achieves the greatness of Pele or Maradona
or their ilk, the abiding memory of his time in England will be that of his transfer to West Ham.
