Liverpool legend Alan Hansen has warned Rafael Benitez that signing wide players is more important
than bringing Gareth Barry or Robbie Keane to Anfield.
Benitez has made no secret of his attempts to sign midfielder Barry and striker Keane - but neither
would add much of the width Hansen feels Liverpool need if they are to challenge Manchester United
or Chelsea for the Barclays Premier League title.
Robbie Keane is relishing the prospect of teaming up with Fernando Torres after completing his
£20.3million move from Tottenham to Liverpool.
Keane, the 28-year-old Republic of Ireland captain, agreed a four-year deal at Anfield after
undergoing a medical at Liverpool's Melwood training ground and could now establish a
mouth-watering partnership in attack with Spain striker Torres.

With today's signing of 28-year-old Danish defender Martin Albrechtsen, manager Paul
Jewell has now brought in 8 players this off season. The list includes: 22-year-old
Australian right midfielder/right back Ruben Zadkovich, 24-year-old winger
Kris Commons, and 20-year-old winger/forward Steve Davies.
Rafa Benitez is convinced the arrival of Philipp Degen and Andrea Dossena can give Liverpool the
added dimension needed to make a sustained challenge for the Barclays Premier League title next
season.
The Reds boss - who was speaking at an afternoon press conference held to unveil the duo to the
members of the media - believes the full-backs will give his side more attacking verve in the wide
areas.
The Premier League new boys had looked favourites to sign the goalkeeper at the beginning of the
week, after having had a reported £4m offer accepted by Liverpool, but evidently negotiations
with the player did not have the desired results.
"We can announce that we are no longer pursuing Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson," read
an official Stoke statement.
Gareth Barry would consider pulling the plug on his prospective move to Liverpool from Aston Villa
if the transfer is not resolved come the start of the Barclays Premier League season in eight days'
time.
Barry is eager to join Liverpool, but the England midfield player is becoming increasingly
concerned about the amount of time the deal is taking, after Villa paved the way for the move last
weekend, and he is not willing to wait much longer.
Fabio Aurelio hopes to give Rafael Benitez a selection headache by declaring himself available for
