For the second time in a row, Atletico Madrid's visit to Camp NOu turned out to be a nightmare. But
it was better than last time, I mean they score one more and conceded one less too this time
around. With this heavy defeat Atletico's start to the season has gone from bad to worse. First
half goals from Ibrahmovic, Messi, Alves and Keita, and an injury time strike from Messi condemned
Atletico's to their heaviest defeat this season.
FC Barcelona - 4, Bilbao - 1
FC Barcelona ended their two year droght of silverware with an emphatic win against Athletic Bilbao
at the Mestalla. Yesterday's triump also ends a eleven year wait for the "Copa Del Rey" title. The
last time FC Barcelona won the cup Guardiola was a team member and it might be destiny that this
has to be his first title as FC Barcelona coach.
FC Barcelona produced another lacklustre display but still were successful in booking a place in
the final against Athletic Bilbao. Strangely Bilbao is their next opponent in the league. The final
will be held on the 13th of May at Valencia. FC Barcelona went to this game with a 2 goal advantage
but Castro's stunnig goal in the first half saw that reduced to a single goal lead.
In one of the most sensational displays away from home, FC Barcelona humiliated Real Madrid by
scoring half a dozen goal against the. With the 2-6 victory FC Barcelona has extracted some revenge
for the humiliation at the same ground last season. In a match billed to be the "Title Decider"
this season, Barca showed their technical superiority to emerge comfortable winners.
In a sensational display, FC Barcelona defeated defending champions Manchester United to lift this
year's UEFA Champions League Trophy with goals from Eto and Messi. By doing so, FC Barcelona became
the first Spanish side to achieve the historic Treble in the history. I doubt whether any Barca fan
could have scripted a better game; apart from the early ten minutes, this was "The Perfect Script".
An under strength FC Barcelona side was held to a 1-1 draw by Totenham in their first pre-season
friendly in the Wembley Cup. Bojan Krikic gave FC Barcelona the lead in the 32nd minute but
Totenham equalised in the 82nd minute through Livermore's header. Guardiola decided to rest
majority of stars from the squad who made it to London.
FC Bracelona - 1, Shaktar Donetsk - 0
FC Barcelona won the UEFA Super cup for the third time in history with a 1-0 victory over Shaktar
at the Louis II stadium in Monaco. A late Pedro Rodriguez strike in the second half o the extra
time was the difference between the two sides.
Racing coach to the build up to the game stated that "Without his teammates, Messi would not
be the player he is". I wasn't upset with that statement but can't say the same of Lionel
Messi. Messi came off the substitute bench with half an hour left, scored twice to over turn a 1-0
deficit and forced everyone to take notice of the fact that FC Barcelona is a different team with
him in the pitch.
FC Barcelona was condemned to a second successive league defeat by Atletico Madrid at the Vicente
Caledron. In a match which was played at frantic pace, which saw frequent see-sawing and which saw
some of the worst defending ever, Atletico was the better team by a far margin and they deserved
their 4-3 victory.
Real Mallorca - 2, Barca - 1
Guardiola decided to rest majority of first team players against Real Mallorca. The makeshift side
had three Barca B team members - Xavi Torres, Oier Olazabal and Pedro. Barca went ahead with a goal
from Eto in the tenth minute but wasted a flurry of chances to end the game, especially Eto.
FC Barcelona has essentially put their Champions League qualification at risk by drawing against
the Russian champions. With this draw we stand at second in standing and have a chance to end the
night at third in overall standing if there is anything other than a draw in the match against
Inter and Kiev.
Osasuna would curse their fate not to have won against the league leaders on yesterday's cold,
foggy night. It took two late goals from Xavi and Messi for FC Barcelona to overcome the bottom
placed Osasuna after their side carelessly squandered the first half lead from a stunning Eto
strike. The attitude shown by the team after the winter break is a cause of worry; I may be
pressing the panicking button a tad early.
FC Barcelona kept their dream of an unprecedented treble well alive with a 3-2 victory against
Espanyol, not before being scared out of their skin by a resurgent Espanyol side. FC Barcelona put
themselves in the spot of trouble with reckless defending and time wasting which affected their
tempo. Bojan struk in either half and Pique added the the third to give Barca a comfortable three
goal lead.
FC Barcelona completed their tenth consecutive victory with a 3-1 drubbing of Sporting Gijon on
Camp Nou. Two goals from Eto and one from Alves saw Barca again extending the lead at the top to
twelve points. FC Barcelona's recent victories weren't that convincing when compared to Barca's
standard; they are more than convincing when compared to any other team in Europe.
FC Barcelona will consider themselves lucky after coming out of first leg of knock out stage of
Champions League unhurt. The irony is that not only they weren't hurt but also managed to hold the
upper hand into the return leg with a precious away goal. Many of Barca's supporters were hoping
for a improved performance after two lacklustre displays against Betis and Espanyol.
FC Barcelona secured a last eight place in this season's Champions League with a sensational 5-2
rout of Lyon at Camp Nou. FC Barcelona produced a display which would have put their recent blip in
form to distant memory. Two first half goals from Henry in the span of two minutes , a wonder goal
from Messi and another from Eto gave Barcelona the early lead; but Lyon pulled down the lead with
goals in end of first half and start of second half.

In a sensational display which could be sending shivers across Europe, FC Barcelona destroyed the
visiting Malaga team by half a dozen goals. The display was so phenomenol that a 6-0 final
scoreline was indeed injustice to Barca. Barca was also helped with the Malaga team's attitude and
plans which saw them defending deep and trying to crowd Barca out of the box.
FC Barcelona set up a semi final show down with Chelsea in this year's Champions League with a 1-1
draw against Bayern Munich. Frank Ribery put Bayern in the lead early in the second half but a
stunning strike from Keita kept Barca's unbeaten streak intact. Barca already had the match in bag
after a 4-0 crushing of Bayern at home but they still need to see off this leg and they did it
brilliantly.
A goal from Lionel Messi in the first half was enough for Barca to register a win against Getafe.
Getafe was always a tough place for Barca to visit, but a 1-0 goal line was an injustice to FC
Barcelona. FC Barcelona was denied by some poor finishing, excellent goal keeping by Stojkovic and
some poor refereeing.
FC Barcelona restored their lead on top with an emphatic victory over the Andulucian side, Sevilla
at home. Barca scored 4 goals within an hour mark to completely rout a sorry looking Sevilla side,
who were condemned to their third straight league defeat. Real Madrid player Marcelo has last week
claimed that we will draw against Sevilla and Valencia and also will lose against Real Madrid and
Deportivo.
FC Barcelona grabbed a point from the match against Valencia with a late goal from Thierry Henry.
FC Barcelona now moves seven point clear of Real Madrid, but Madrid can cut that lead back to four
points tonight. The pressing and quick counter attack from a very talented and in-form Valencia
side troubled throughout the match.
For the first time in this season, FC Barcelona were unable to score a goal at the Camp Nou. A
boring but disciplined Chelsea held FC Barcelona to a goal less draw, now they have the advantage
of playing the next match at their home. Both the coaches had earlier promised an open encounter
but Hiddink realised early that attacking against Barca at Camp Nou can be of dangerous proportion.
Andres Iniesta's 93rd minute stunner send FC Barcelona from the verge of packing their bags to
their dream Champions League Final at Rome. Chelsea went ahead in the 9th minute courtesy of a
stunning volley from the most unlikeliest of source - Michael Essien. They held on to the lead for
a precious 93 minutes but Iniesta had the last laugh slotting the ball past Cech from outside the
box, incidently that was FC Barcelona's only shot on target.
An injury time goal from has postponed FC Barcelona's League title victory for atleast one week. FC
Barcelona needs now only one point from their last three matches to conquer the La Liga. They may
not even need that if Real Madrid fails to win their next game. Guardiola has to be dissappointed
after being held 3-3 at home against Villareal, especially considering that we led 3-1 before
relinquishing our lead.
FC Barcelona - 0, Osasuna - 1
A second consecutive defeat and a red card to debutant Muniesa spoiled the night in which Fc
Barcelona was handed the La Liga Trophy. The Red Card more than the defeat spoiled the mood as a
defeat was expected with team Guardiola lined up. In my preview to the match, I emphasised on the
importance of having some of our main players on the pitch, especially the defense.
FC Barcelona eased past the challenge post by Al Ahly in their second match of the Wembley cup. The
4-1 victory but wasn't enough for them to grab the inaugral Wembley Cup. Celtic later defeated
Totenham 2-0 to claim the first edition of this friendly cup. Like the last match Guardiola put in
another young but talented side ofr this encounter.
FC Barcelona started their tour of the North Americas with a tough 2-1 victory against Los Angeles
Galaxy. Again as expected Guardiola experimeneted with the team giving ample amount of
oppurtunities to the young players. And to Guardiola's credit it was two of the younger players who
scored for Barca - Pedro and Jeffren.
FC Barcelona looks like they will be al set to add their first silverware of this season at Camp
Nou next week after securing a 2-1 away victory at Sam Mames. With two away goals and a goal lead,
it looks pretty unlikely that Barca will falter in winning the title. Athletic Bilbao went ahead
towards the end of the first half but second half strikes from Xavi and Pedro secured Barca a
deserving victory.
FC Barcalona continued with their excellent start to the season with a 2-0 victory away at the
Coliseum Alfonso stadium in Getafe. Goals from Ibrahmovic and Messi took Barca to a not so
convincing victory against a tough Getafe side. This victory has taken us to the top of the table
and we will be looking to hold onto that top spot no matter what.
FC Barcelona continued their excellent run in the league with a 4-1 demolition of Racing Santander
at El Sardinero stadium. Two goals from Messi and one each from Ibrahmovic and Pique was enough to
see Barca comfortably past Racing. Like the weekend it was a sensational first half display which
put Barca in command.
FC Barcelona's winning streak came to a hold at the Mestella, when they were held to a goal less
draw by Valencia. Actually Barca was lucky not to have lost the match, a combination of great goal
keeping by Valdes and some poor finishing by Valencia players prevented a Valencia win. Valencia
were the better team in both the halfs, especially in the first half.
I have been on road for last two days and missed the Champions league match against Rubin Kazan. So
this one resulted in the first defeat officially this season. Now if we take the last three matches
into presective, there could be some alarm bells ringing. The 1-0 victory against Almeria was far
from convincing, the draw at Valencia was aided by some heavy fortune and the 2-1 defeat can be
attributed to lack of the same.
FC Barcelona extended their lead at the top of the league to three points with a marvelous 6-1
thrashing of Zaragoza. It was quite a night with Keita scoring a hat-trick. Not many times you will
see Keita outscoring the likes of Messi and Ibrahmovic. There were serious doubts about Barca's
form, but the players put them into rest with a sensational display.
FC Barcelona retained their lead at top of five points with a 3-1 comfortable victory against
Deportivo at the Riazor. Messi gave Barca a deserving lead in the 27th minute but Deportivo
equalised in the 39th minute. Secons half goals from Messi and Ibrahmovic then gave Barca a truly
deserving victory.
Once again FC Barcelona struggled at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic. FC Barcelona were held for a
goal less draw by Espanyol in the first leg of Copa Del Rey Quarter Final. Guardiola earlier have
suggested that he would field the best available side but he dissappointed so does the team.
Guardiola brought in nine changes to the team which started last week against Deportivo.
FC Barcelona broke the record for most points by a La Liga outfit in the first half os any season
by a commanding demolition of Deportivo La Coruna at the Camp Nou. With the 5-0 destruction of
Deportivo Fc Barcelona has amassed 50 points by the half stage of league. Three of FC barcelona's
front men all got into the score sheet with Henry and Eto scoring twice and Messi opening the
scoring.
FC Barcelona made another come-back from behind victory to oversome a determined Atletico Madrid
side and coast comfortably into the Quarter Finals of the Copa Del Rey. Gudjohnsen's second half
strike won Barca the match after Bojan's header cancelled out Sinama Pongolle early goal. It is
good to see FC Barcelona coming from behind, but the regularity with which this is occuring is
alarming and this shows a lack of intent early on in the match.
FC Barcelona took a firm step forward in moving to the next round of Copa Del Rey with a 3-1
victory at Vicente Calderon against Athletico Madrid. It was the astonishing talent of Lionel
Messi, who scored all goals Barca of the night which became the difference between the two sides.
The crowd who was expecting their side seek revenge for the 6-1 drubbing by Barca the last time
when the sides met was very hostile from the word go, but then you can't blame them for that.
FC Barcelona extended their winning streak with a not so convincing 3-1 victory against Real
Mallorca. On a night when tempers where running pretty high on the pitch, Goals from Henry, Iniesta
and Toure saw Barca overcome a determined Mallorca side who took the lead from an Aritz Aduriz goal
early on.
