A banana-a-day, keeps Messi' growing! (FC Barcelona - The 'beautiful team!)
Whether it be their draculian off-the-field tactics, or the devilish
on-the-field one's, one thing is for sure that we now love to hate FC
Barcelona. Esp that piglet namely Xavi (and Busquests, and Pique, and Pedro, and Puyol, and.
So, I had this great idea for a post about Arsenal and Barcelona fans, and how to distinguish
them. An Arsenal fan will feel good about him or herself for entering a Starbucks and buying coffee
imported from Nicaragua or some other third world country. A Barcelona fan? He or she will turn
over the coffee package and scowl in disgust.
Barcelona have finalised an agreement for the transfer of Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal, according
to reports in Spain.
Arsene Wenger earlier revealed that he hoped the long-running saga would be resolved very soon
and later confirmed his skipper would play no part in Saturday's Premier League opener against
Newcastle at St James' Park.

A club in turmoil thanks to the loss of their best player to the Spanish giants Barcelona. Fans
split over the lack of big money signings. A defiant refusal to play anything other than the
stylish, beautiful football their philosophy dictates.

This is it, people. The final results post before summer kicks in and a Kickette staffer's
thoughts turn to tanned torsos, embarassing holiday snaps and drunken snoozling on the beach.
Revel in every glorious moment of it.

he transfer of Cesc Fabregas to FC Barcelona is all done pending an official email from Arsenal
confirming the transaction. The problem is that with all the excitement by Barcelona fans and team
personnel Arsenal got angry and is delaying their response.

The greater LA area tends to empty out on long summer weekends, which is why the Galaxy and
Chivas USA avoid scheduling home MLS games in Carson.
Editor's Note: Our "Going Suds Up" columnist, Kirsten, is all over Europe this summer and
occasionally she'll be sending back correspondence about the culture of beer and football across
the pond.
If you've got your own stories of beer and soccer from around the globe we'd love to hear
them.
What an impact an successful tournament makes, isn't it? What an impact a wonder goal makes,
isn't it?Two weeks before I was shouting at the loudest voice in another Barcelona blog about the
foolishness of letting Thiago slip away inorder to facilitate the signing of Cesc Fabregas. No one
cared.
Over 30,000 Barcelona fans flocked to the Nou Camp to welcome home Cesc
Fabregas after spending 8 years at Arsenal, before his return to his boyhood club.
The ancient Greeks were a wonderful people, whose reliance on slaves and women to do all the
actual work meant they could devote themselves to increasing the size of their brains, and then
devote those gigantic brains to the asking of brilliantly pointless questions, many of which still
entertain and irritate philosophy students today.
A lot has happened since my last post (in fact a whole a lot of things have happened since I last
posted on the blog) but you know, university and with it all the p-sets along with the exams just
kills you. Anyway, getting to the point quickly in this short post. Barcelona fans might [...]

On the eve of THE rematch, I wanted to share my experience of living in the beautiful city of
Barcelona. I moved there (permanently in my mind) 3 days after 9/11. I fell in love with the
City, Las Ramblas, the fantastic area of Gracia where we lived, and the relaxed and welcoming
Spanish/ Catalan lifestyle.
What do Beckham, Ronaldo, Tevez and Messi all have in common? The hottest women by their sides? The
top teams in the world fighting for not only their skills but also their brand? More money than the
mere mortal can ever imagine? Tick, tick and triple tick.
While there are many footballers out there who are admired, some are still yet to shine.
FC Barcelona won their 21st League title with a 1-1 draw at Levante with a bit of tricky
performance. This was not one of the usual flowing performance by the Barca side, but it was good
enough to complete a rare hat-trick of League title. The last team which did that was the dream
team of Barcelona back in the 90s.
Tomorrow evening, the center of the football world will be Wembley Stadium in London, as
Manchester United take on Barcelona in a highly-anticipated Champions League final.
Along with the tens of thousands that will fill Wembley, millions around the world will be tuned
in from their televisions and computers to catch the action.

I was at Wembley with my brother and father, two long-time United supporters, and my mother who
supports Barcelona and wore her Lionel Messi jersey proudly. We found our seats only to realize
that our tickets were in the last section of the Manchester United supporters.
Who said Barcelona fans weren't creative? This couple sure has a good sense of humor. Just one
problem, Shakira is totally blond and doesn't know anything about football.
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has called up Barcelona's Thiago Alcantara into his 22-man squad
for next Wednesday's friendly against Italy in Bari. Thiago has been impressing fans on two
continents with his play this summer and he has some Barcelona fans asking Cesc Who?
Thiago helped Spain's Under-21 team win the European championship last month, and has been
eligible to play for Brazil, with his father Mazinho being a member of the 1994 World Cup winning
team.
Barcelona threw away a two goal lead to draw 2-2 with Real Sociedad at the Estadio Anoeta whilst
Real Madrid beat Getafe 4-2. A potentially decisive week in the outcome of La Liga 2012? Certainly
that was the feeling amongst some of the rather nervous looking Barcelona fans at the Estadio
Anoeta as their side [.
John Crace, beloved author of the Guardian's digested reads, has written a book called "Vertigo:
One Football Fan's Fear of Success," which we may suppose is John Crace's delightful way of
offering a point of view into every football fan's fear of success.
From an excerpt in The Guardian, titled How football helped me to live with
depression," we learn that he writes about being a Spurs fan in an abusive relationship with a club
that promises glory and delivers heartbreak routinely.
Lionel Messi and FC Barcelona take on Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou (Photo: Getty

It's that time of year again. For the past 3 seasons, Atlético Madrid has left the Camp Nou
with a sack of goals. Will Lionel Messi terrorize Los Colchoneros defense again this
year?
There is no doubt that every Barcelona and Real Madrid fan is still reeling under the effect of
the brilliant El Cklasico night at the Bernebeu on Saturday. Can't blame anyone as it usually takes
more than a day atleast to get over these. The reactions from both Camp to the result was very much
interesting.
