Mildly exciting research published this week has revealed which football clubs sell the most
shirts around the world. You won't be surprised to find out that the list is dominated by
sportswear giantsNike and Adidas. In reverse order then...

Aaah, so that's maybe why he left Inter and Barcelona This is the moment when Ibra casually
introduced himself to teammate Rodney Strasser during a training session with his new side AC
Milan. It looks like a cross between playground bullying and dreadful karate classes as a kid.

Iker Casillas took his gal Sara Carbonero out for drinks Sunday after they caught the Atletico v
Barcelona game in Madrid. We're not even mentioning his jean cuffs. We're just not.
So, which club do you think has the biggest fan following? Some would say Manchester United,
others would say Real Madrid and a few would even say Bayern Munich. There isn't really a way to
find out the exact number of fans of a specific football club... Or is there?
Maybe Facebook can give us a good sample for our "research".

Here's Carles Puyol:
He looks like a 21st-century caveman on smack.
And here's his new girlfriend, the model Malena Costa:
Hmm. Is life fair? You decide.

10 footballers who are punching above their weight
A planned adidas PR stunt that had Lionel Messi appearing in three London locations backfired
yesterday. The idea was that Messi would land at Hackney Marshes (home to 88 football pitches) and
make a guest appearance in a game between two high school teams.
With no top flight domestic football on over the weekend as a result of the international
qualifiers/friendlies, and Cadiz playing away from home, I decided to tune into
Barcelona
B v Xerez to get my weekly fix of Spanish football. And if there's anything I learned,
it's that Barcelonas future is in safe hands.
Zlatan scored 2 goals today for AC Milan he has now scored in The Champions League for an amazing 5

Thomas Ujfalusi injured Leo Messi this weekend, when the Atletico Madrid defender's clumsy
attempt to tackle the Barcelona attacker got a lot more ankle than it did ball. It wasn't pretty,
and Messi will be out for two weeks or more.
Ujfalusi was sent off for the tackle, but Barcelona players have complained about the harshness
of the tackle, with Pique going as far as saying that Messi was "hunted" by Atletico.
Gerard Pique has spoken fondly of Sir Alex Ferguson and reflected on how the manager reacted
after being told he wanted to return to Barcelona.
"When I arrived there I was 17 and it was really hard for me to leave my family here, to
change club, to change all my friends," said Pique.
New AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri may have inherited a Rossoneri side that had
been weakened by instability in recent years.
However, it took only one week the final week of transfers, to be precise to convince Allegri
that owner Silvio Berlusconi is fully behind an initiative to restore the club's image as a
European giant.
Champions League action continues today with Real Madrid, AC Milan, Chelsea, AS Roma, Bayern
Munich and Arsenal all playing. After a surprising opening night yesterday, these giants will be
looking to avoid defeat at all costs.
One result that was thoroughly not expected was Tottenham's 2 all draw away to Weder Bremen.
First it was Cristiano Ronaldo who was going to bring the title to the capital, now it is Jose
Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo who will bring the title to the capital. Can they really stop a
star-studded Catalan army?
Professional Football Players Observatory (PFPO) and RunningBall developed a
new statistics model for football and the model helped predict the probable national champions in
Europe's top five leagues in 2011.
The summer transfer season ends and the excitement of the last day and a half sums up one of the
most active transfer windows that I can remember. The biggest movers were the usual suspects this
summer in Real Madrid (6 players in, 2 players out, and over €60 spent) and Manchester City (6
players in, 8 players out, and over €130 spent).

For 60 seconds the

Barcelona are optimistic that Lionel Messi hasn't suffered a broken ankle (as
was first thought) after being injured during their 2-1 Primera Division win over Atletico Madrid
last night.
Messi was hauled off the pitch on a stretcher after a challenge from Atletico defender
Thomas Ufjalusi (who received a fairly harsh red card for his part in the
incident) left the agonised winger in tears on the turf of the Vicente Calderon stadium.

Unsurprisingly, Ghana lead the list of nominees for the African Footballer of the
Year
The short list of nominees up for the African Footballer of the Year have been making their way
into the press this morning. Not surprising that Ghana lead the list along with some other
predictable nominations .
Martin Caceres, Victor Sanchez and Alexander Hleb all have a few things in common. They all became
a part of Barca's first team for the first time during the historic treble season of 2008-2009,
sharing the victory while not being a very significant part of it. Subsequently, all three were
dispatched on loan the following season: Sanchez to local team Xerez, Caceres to Italian powerhouse
Juventus, and Hleb to German side Stuttgart.
One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how players often hate on their former clubs soon
after transferring. It is a trend i see with most players. They normally go on and on about how
switching clubs is the best thing that ever happened to their careers and that they are ready for a
fresh start when in reality, we know its all a load of rubbish!
On this week's List of the Week, I thought I'd bring you something simple and that can be found
in multiple places, but still is asked about all of the time. Specifically, I'm talking about a
list of winners of the UEFA Champions League. I have two lists, actually. First is a list of the
clubs that have won the championship.
Barcelona technical director Andoni Zubizarreta has revealed the fee the Spanish giants were ready
to pay to secure the services of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. According to the ex-goalkeeper,

Have you ever wondered why Barcelona and Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta is so pale? Well
apparently he spends a lot of time indoors watching video of his own games, and as a result has
seen his World Cup final winning goal 1,000 times.
"I watch all my matches many times," the 26-year-old Barcelona playmaker told the Spanish daily
El Pais.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has spoken out about Javier Mascherano's impact on the club. The
Argentine left the club in controversial fashion at the end of the transfer window, and while
Barcelona fans are looking forward to seeing him at the Camp Nou, Liverpool are left figuring out
how to regroup.
Nasty face collision Barcelona defender Gerard Pique added injury to insult during his side's
embarrassing home defeat against newly-promoted Hercules. The ex-Man Utd player had an unwise
mid-air peck with Hercules keeper Juan Calatayud. Pique was left bloodied and bruised, and on the
wrong end of a 0-2 scoreline.
New Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho shrugged off the jeers from the Santiago
Bernabeu crowd who weren't impressed by a workmanlike 1-0 win over Osasuna. Real Madrid had opened
its first season under Mourinho with a scoreless tie.
"The public can jeer if they want and I can respect it," said Mourinho.
While it has been Chelsea taking the Premier League by storm during the opening few weeks of the
season, their London rivals Arsenal have gradually been gradually continuing their solid start to
the campaign.
Arsene Wenger's side have been in very impressive form so far this season.

Jose Mourinho, ready to win moreThe Champions League has begun, and while we are only at the group
stages, I still find it very interesting to see how teams are finding European competition. There
were plenty of interesting results in this group of matches, and as you'd expect, some ridiculous
thrashings.
AC Milan's new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic is no stranger to controversy, however, the Swede's
actions during a television interview that also included former Italy and Milan coach Arigo Sacchi
leaves little to be desired from the Champions League hero.
Not only were Ibra's remarks offensive, but they were also derogatory to a man who's
contributions for his club and country far eclipse the 29 year old's achievements.

It's been 10 years since the 17th of September 2000 when a 17 year old called Lionel Messi touched
down at Barcelona's El Prat airport for a trial. He scored five goals and hit the crossbar twice in
his first display and hasn't looked back since.
It has been all downhill since that 'great' Liverpool second-place Premier League finish for
Rafa Benitez, hasn't it?
And now after a sour end to Benitez's six-year reign at Anfield, he was hired as a replacement
for Jose Mourinho at Inter.
Needless to say, the appointment puts Benitez in the hottest seat possible.

Eto'o has always been known as one of the world's deadliest forwards, a player with speed,
intelligence, and pinpoint finishing. His statistics are incredible, with great goalscoring records
at club and international level. But this past season where he won the treble with Inter Milan was
a severe drop for him in goalscoring terms.
El jugador frances Thierry Henry rompe los ligamentos del portero rival, desde hace tiempo a

Barcelona star, Andres Iniesta, will be taking on a new role in his life as the 26-year old
Spanish star went on to state that "[His] future fatherhood has just been reported." Taken
advantage of his post-World Cup break to conceive the child, Iniesta will now enjoy the fruits and
labors of his first child.
