Proof if proof were needed
I'm afraid the rumours are true. Wayne Rooney will undoubtedly be calling an
emergency press conference in the next few hours to announce the news that he will be playing his
football at the Bernabeu next season.

There are rumours rumours that grow by the day, like Sol Campbell's waistline that Gerard Pique
had a two-night stand with pop star Shakira, after they met at the 201o World Cup (Shakira was out
there to do the Waka Waka, Pique to win the tournament).

Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic said after his side's Champions League defeat that
Inter defender Marco Materazzi attacked team-mate Mario Balotelli in the players'
tunnel.
This is probably the best news Major League Soccer could have gotten this week. Barcelona boss
Joan Laporta told Sport that he has granted Thierry Henry permission to leave the club despite
having a season left on his contract, which doesn't expire until June 2011. (H/T to NY Post
reporter Brian Lewis for finding this out today)
"His contract with us will expire in one year.
Barcelona and Inter claimed the top prize in Spain and Italy, respectively. Chelsea edged Pompey to
nab the 2010 FA Cup. Michael Ballack is out of the World Cup due to an injury sustained in
Saturday's match. Chelsea are also reportedly lining up a mega-bid for Fernando Torres. More on
Thursday.

In which Zlatan deals with the fallout from that photo by bragging about his how much he likes
to bed the ladeez.
Methinks Zlatan doth protest too much.

If you've ever played, coached, attended or heard tell of youth soccer, then you'll know about
the angry soccer dad. The guy who comes to watch the team, but is really only interested in seeing
his son/daughter play, and will yell obscenities should the coach ever dare to bench this guy's
offspring.
First off, I don't hate the kid. I really, really feel bad for him. I don't think he's a bad guy
and I don't think his choice to play for Italy was out of any malice or that it served as any great
indictment of American soccer.
All that being said, I think Rossi being left off the team is a net plus for US Soccer.
Has Tony Parker accidentally let the cat out of the bag regarding best friend Thierry Henry's
post-World Cup plans? In an interview with SLAM Online published on Wednesday, the San Antonio

exchange took place:

What do the Super Bowl and El Clásico have in common? Well our focus of the week was at both of
them.
We were looking for a reason to have her on our site, and she gave us the perfect excuse, er, I
mean... reason.
She was in Madrid for El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Esta fotografia le esta dando la vuelta a la red, los aficionados cules hace una semana sufrían

From Mirror Football -
Thierry Henry has negotiated his exit from Barcelona this summer and is preparing to head to the
US.
Former Arsenal captain Henry, 32, failed to even make the bench for Barcelona's win at
Villarreal last weekend and that has merely confirmed his departure.
When World Cup celebrations go phlegm-y Spain defender Gerard Pique provided one of the more
disgusting moments of the World Cup victory celebrations. The very drunk Barcelona star - already
staggering around the open-top bus - decides it might be nice to spit at a member of Spain's
backroom staff. The ex-Manchester United man achieved a direct [.

Here we are again, speculating over Manchester Uniteds 2010-2011 kit. Every year United is one
of the last teams to unveil its kits. Barcelona, Celtic, and Inter Milan have all unveiled
theirs, just to name a few Nike teams. Adidas teams include Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool
who have unveiled next seasons kits.

New York Red Bulls sporting director Erik Soler has made it known that his team will not be using
their second Designated Player slot until after the World Cup comes to an end. His declaration has
added further fuel to rumors that the club will attempt to land French international Thierry Henry
at some point during the upcoming MLS season instead of waiting until his contract with Barcelona
expires in the summer of 2011.
We've heard Seattle. We've heard New York. Now it's D.C. United's turn to go on the Thierry
Henry rumor wagon. Henry is looking to leave his contract with Spanish giants Barcelona due to a
lack of playing time, making his move to Major League Soccer all the more possible.
Reports out of Europe today suggest Henry is catching interest from New York and now D.

Aaah, so that's maybe why he left Inter and Barcelona This is the moment when Ibra casually

The superb run of form that has lifted humble Real Mallorca to fourth in La Liga faces a stiff test
when Gregorio Manzano's side travel to the Bernabeu to face Real Madrid on Sunday. Undefeated
leaders Barcelona, who were held 1-1 at home by Villarreal last weekend and have a two-point
advantage over Real, will be without striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic when they play at promoted Tenerife
on Sunday.

As is the case with every weekend, there were hoards of quality goals, but Cristiano Ronaldo's
free kick in Real Madrid's 6-2 victory vs. Villarreal was arguably the best.
Ronaldo opened the scoring in the eight-goal affair, blasting a precise free kick into the top
corner of Diego Lopez's net from 25 yards out.
The world is going Messi-crazed and you can't blame them. Claiming that Messi is the best
modern day player in the world is like claiming that Michael Jordan was a great basketball player
or that the sky is blue. What Messi is currently doing is not only extraordinary for the sport of
European football, but it is extraordinary for sports in general.
After all the crazy quotes attributed to the Arsenal midfielder Andrei Arshavin, today we have the
craziest of all. Arsene Wenger said that he was "disappointed" about the Arshavin interview saying
that Barcelona were the best team in the world, and he would love to play for them, even if it was
for just one season.
Spanish national team
Barcelona and Real Madrid are the dominant teams in Spain and they proved it by being the two
teams that monopolized nearly half of the spots of La Furia's 30-man roster. Barcelona ended
up on top as seven of their players earned call ups. There were some surprises in Vicente Del
Bosque's list, but for the most part the players that were expected to be on, were.
The rumors, for once, came to fruition, as FC Barcelona will pay a transfer fee of €40 million
to Valencia for Spanish international striker David Villa. This tango (or the sardana
for a more local, Catalunyan flair) danced by the two clubs since the previous offseason will
finally end as outgoing Barça president Joan Laporta landed the player he coveted for two
years.
Last week Daryl offered up his 10 Footballers Who Defined The Decade you may remember it as the

oh-oh's and the footballers who made it what it was. They weren't all the best players of the
decade [.
Fittingly considering the last article was about lazy journalism this is the first thing I've
written in a week. And even more aptly, it's not even mine, but lifted from the Guardian. But it's
a fantastic piece by Dr Sid Lowe, who you will be familiar with from the site and from Football
Weekly, the excellent Guardian Football Podcast.
San Siro success may be muddied by some very interesting news indeed.

£50 million dump. Here's the round up...
Rumour No. 1: Manchester City are preparing to jettison £50 million worth of
players in the summer as manager Roberto Mancini begins a total rebuild of his squad.
Emmanuel Adebayor, Wayne Bridge, Shaun
Wright-Phillips and Stephen Ireland will all face the boot at Eastlands,
and the Italian boss is planning to kick start his overhaul with a £50 million bid for Liverpool
striker Fernando Torres.

Well it comes as no great surprise that the nippy little pint sized Argentine tops this list. He
would've probably won it by a canter if this was a list created a year ago and then factor in the
Barcelona attacker's phenomenal season and you have a winner by a country mile.
